Very bad combination.....

Earlier today I decided that I was going to try to eat real food for dinner and so I went in to put adhesives on my teeth (I am disabled and don't really go out except for the doctors and the dentist ). I don't wear it all the time (not sure if that is good or bad) because my uppers stay in quite well andy lowers are only an issue if I'm trying to eat.

So anyway I came in and, following lots of advice in here, I applied the powder (adding water since that has helped) and put my teeth in, holding them in place, etc. After about 20 minutes my lowers were completely loose again. So I went back and brushed my gums (I just use an ULTRA SOFT TOOTHBRUSH and regular toothpaste to remove any adhesive from my mouth and to clean my gums) I then decided to put some of the sample poligrip on just the bottoms.

Within 15 minutes I was out cold. I should probably tell you that I have TMJ along with numerous other health problems. So when I wake up I'm in a full blown panic attack because my teeth won't open and they were FINALLY sticking to my gums! Lol

Once I settled down I got hot water in my mouth, teeth separated and off.

I ate yogurt for dinner!

I know that this is not what the forum is for, but I had to share with all of you since no too many others would fully appreciate it!

After thinking about it, I decided that you should all know that I wasn't "out cold" because of anything to do with dentures or adhesives! I have several pain issues, one being Rheumatoid arthritis and I also have Fibromyalgia. My meds tend to make me very sleepy!!!!!!

I have been without molars for so long that I forgot how bad my TMJ is lol

I'm glad you're okay. I have Fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis, amongst other things so I feel your pain. I've noticed that my teeth clenching has gotten worse as well as snoring since I've gotten dentures.

I totally agree Annie! I find myself clenching during the day now too. And the snoring part - I have a cpap machine that I'm supposed to be wearing at night but can't seem to get used to the combination of cpap + a mouth full of plastic or cpap + absolutely nothing in my mouth. I think I'll have to get a new nose piece.

Wow I can only imagine how that went. On a side note when you put powder on your lowers I use more than they recomend. I just played around with it until I found what worked for me. I've had my lowers for a few years though so I've had a little practice finding what works. Once you figure it out you'll be amazed at how well they stay in and the different things you can eat again

For sure I literally fill the lower plate to TRY to keep it in place, soft foods & tiny baby bites is no way to eat. I'm hoping my reline in a wk does the trick cause 6 months of struggling sucks.
