I'm struggling to eat normal soft food. I realize that it has only been one week, but Jell-O and broth is just not cutting it. I've lost about 8 pounds so far, and really can't afford to lose much more. I tried using some adhesive powder today to see if that helps limit the movement of the dentures so I could attempt to chew properly. No such luck! Any advice other than eat more soup?

Hi sum thing my husband made me for few days after was browned ground beef chopped up really fine and mixed in mashed potatoes. U can add gravy too. Was really good and could pretty much just sell low it. I know it sucks not being able to eat but u will get there. Oatmeal is really good too. Scrambled eggs also. Hope this helps sum. I know soups and broth get old REALLY fast.

I ate a lot of spaghetti with pasta shells, and another good thing is to suck on hard candy it helps you to create suction.

I will be 2 weeks post extraction on Tuesday and still struggling to eat big time. Not sure if it's it my head that I can't. I feel like I can't feel what I'm chewing. So sick of soup, hello and eggs. I'm sure it gets better. Good luck!

Four days after my extractions, I tired one of those greasy rotisserie chickens from the grocery store. Small strips placed on right and left sides and very little real chewing (more like gumming it). Not pretty and I wouldn't attempt it with an audience, but I was able to eat it. Also yogurt, cottage cheese, scrambled eggs, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese and Hamburger Helper (ugh). I was even able to eat frozen Texas toast made in the oven. I tore it into small pieces and placed it on right and left sides to chew.

Anything chopped small and soft is good for the first few weeks. Although I ate pasta, ice cream, baked potato, mashed, vegetables & yes more soups!!! I did lose weight more than I thought I would even eating tons of ice cream but it will get better over time. Good luck!!
