What do I do with my mouth and tongue

I've been meaning to ask this, but keep forgetting. What should I be doing with my mouth and tongue when at rest. I mean not eating or talking.
Where should my tongue be? Roof of my mouth, at the bottom with my partial? Teeth closed, slightly open? These are things I've never noticed in the past. Now I'm not sure what to do. I notice it more now that it hurts when my back teeth touch.

It doesn’t know what to do. It’s kinda in a panic and nothing feels natural. Does that make sense?

Yes it makes sense. Don't worry. You're not going Loco. It's a common thing. Try Tic Tacs. That will hopefully eventually make you forget the dentures are in there with time.

Now it makes sense. I’m kinda sick, so I got a cough drop. Really helps. Although, I could see it would be pretty easy to choke

Omg don't choke!!! Yea it's a mind thing too. So if you try and keep your tongue occupied for a bit over time hopefully your tongue will chillax. lol. Like we tell severe gaggers during impressions to lift up one leg and they concentrate on that and don't gag. :)

Btw hope you're feeling better. Did you continue with cough drops or did you get a chance to get some Tic Tacs? Not sure if you're still stuck at work.

Hey Charlie! Sorry to hear you are a bit under the weather! My tongue never stops!!! Lol maybe it does when I am sleeping, but while awake without dentures in, it is in non stop motion along with my lips!! I try to be conscious of it and hold it still, but that does not last for long :(

Sorry I meant if you were in pain with your naturals in the past. Please don't give up. You've been a trooper and on here as well and I'm sure people on here agree. Rinse with salt water and take what you need if it helps and don't forget it may feel like the end of the world but the world isnt done with you yet! if you want to give your gums a rest just take them out of there. If you're chilling at home and you or the family don't mind then do it. Give your gums a few hrs rest.

I took the bottom out. Tops don't want start in. No suction left, and it doesn't seem like there's enough adhesive out there to keep them secure. It's just depressing today. I'm sure I'll be fine tomorrow. Today I'm pretty miserable.

Don't forget this experience you're having is one of the 1st things I mentioned you will go through. It's great that you didn't experience it sooner but the time has come. Demand the Relines on Monday and you will feel better but may need an adjustment after that. It's common. After the Relines through time you may feel them getting loose again. After 6 mths you should be Golden :)

I am so upset. They really don’t want to do a soft reline. They said maybe 5 months??? Really?? Right before I get my permanents???
I said I want to see a manager, and now they say they will only do it if it’s necessary. I literally had to hold my top in place with my finger in order to do a bite test. Everything I have ever read says a soft reline is done around the month mark. What the heck did I get myself into here. I have to live with these things.

I’m a calm fellow, but that made my blood boil. Why try and tell me it’s too soon for a reline when my chompers are falling out of my face?? Really, I can tell. It’s no secret. They spent all that time trying to not do it, and argue about why it isn’t necessary, just to finally see there was no other way. An appointment like mine should not have taken 3 flipping hours

I have no idea what their problem is. Each place/individual is different. Hard to say. I don't blame that you feel they got your money and extracted your teeth and now...see ya later. Def not the right attitude to have but I read this crap on here all the time. Sometimes I hear it at work too from our patients about their Dental experiences.

Question Josie. I know I’m not supposed to cover the tissue conditioner in water. What about the outside of it? Is it ok to sit out dry all night? They said dry it off and just put it down for the night. No water. I still feel like at least some of it needs to be wet. Maybe just past the teeth??

One night should be fine sitting dry. I'm not sure what material they used. We use Visco-gel and you are allowed to soak it in water the first night.

You don't want to leave it dry every day as it can eventually change it's shape and become brittle. They love saliva so when it's out of your mouth it should be in water. Hydrophilic is a characteristic of the acrylic and needs water.

Great really. But I can see how quickly they he changes happen. Still no adhesive (and they absolutely refused to do my partial). I can tell they aren’t as snug as they were yesterday already. They were challenging to get out, but today they aren’t. I’m figuring at this rate, I’ll need something to help hold them in a week or so.
They made another appt for next Thursday, wanted me back in 10 days.

Yes you will need adhesive again eventually. Glad to hear the fit is better and you have experienced it which is a step closer to getting your permanent one. We don't make permanent ones. I mean we can but to save costs for people we use the best quality acrylic and good quality teeth for the immediates, Tissue Conditioner then a Reline at 6mths.  So basically the immediate is their permanent. Do you know why they want you back in? Good thing they made that appt. Maybe it's for a follow up and at least you don't need to call them one day and they can't see you for a mth or something.

I was professional, but I explained to the owner that they aren’t living up to their promises. He told me he had faith I could make it through it his. I assured him I will make it through, but i was not sure I would make it with his practice. The owner did seem a little surprised that it took two weeks to get in, especially when I told them I was in pain. Was assured that won’t happen again. Maybe that’s why he said 10 days??

There isn't really one better then the next. You shouldn't have any issues using adhesive but don't use it while it's still soft. It can take approx 3 weeks for the liner to harden.

It’s on the entire thing, all the way to the back. I’m really uncomfortable with leaving the denture dry. I’m afraid it will ruin in. I’d rather put them in water and risk the temp liner than risk the temp denture.

If it helps, the liner they used was pink and tastes like a nail salon smells.

Also, I called my dentist back for better instructions. I told them I was told to not cover my denture in water.
The tech said I absolutely have to put them in plain water every night, if not they will dry out and damage.

Tell them to break them off and add wrought wire clasps or roach clasps. Those are two kinds of clasps and it all depends where they are on the denture they can choose the right one to replace with.

I’ll ask if they can replace with wire when I go back next week. They don’t seem thin, it just looks like they have bent them too many times.
I have all of my bottom fronts, so the partial is really only for molars and the like.

I'd have to see a pic of the denture but if its just acrylic then most likely. If it was a metal Casting and the clasp broke off and couldn't be replaced in house then it would go out to a lab to have a "cast" clasp welded on to replace it but you're all acrylic. Ask the Tech.

They may want to charge you to change the clasps. They would have to take impressions, 2 clasps. It's probably going to cost you a but. It's considered a Repair- with impressions, 2 clasps. At our place its approx $152 plus $60 per clasp. Yea it's CAD but I'm sure the Dentistt will charge more. It's up to you but maybe you can put up with it and if they break them do it? I hope your perms are made well too. Don't forget to get them to make you a Partial Lower Casting and not go in and they have a Partial acrylic for you.
