I had 17 teeth pulled out last Thursday and my dentures were put in at the same time. they knocked me out completely and used novacane. I was in so much pain wearing the dentures that after 3 days I had to take them out. they had left 8 blisters in my mouth 3 of them were the size of a dime. well its been a week now and iam still in ALOT of pain. been rinsing with warm salt water 3 times a day and rinsing with the mouthwash the dentist gave me to use for the blisters. im taking antibiotics. and STILL  having to take the prescribed pain pills the dentist gave me percaset 10mg. when the wear off im in a lot of pain. how long before this ends. and I can be pain free and start wearing my dentures. I still have stitches in my mouth and I also have pyria. which someone said when they pulled the teeth it released the poison. need advice please....

Cathy, I would suggest that you see your dentist. I had terrible pain and mouth sores in the beginning and my dentist did adjustments and alleviated the pain. I have had several. My dentist also told me to leave them out for a few hours at a time to help the sores heal. I also used Orajel to help with the pain. I had both uppers and lowers done at the same time. It has been a little over two months and I'm doing great. Please call your dentist and ask for an adjustment. My dentist told me there is no reason to be in that much pain when a minor adjustment can alleviate it. The cost for my adjustments was included with my dentures. I feel your pain. Please contact your dentist.

Hi Cathy, sounds like the pain is awful. I have been lucky that the pain is not so bad. It's been a month, all my uppers yelled. So now the challenge is learning to eat with them in.
I did things a bit differently than most people. I only wore my dentures 2 to 4 hours a day. I preferred to let my gums heal so after 4 weeks I am mostly ain free. I think it is important not to rush, concentrate on healing first!! All the best, Nancy

Hi Cathy, I am so sorry that you are going through this.  It should not be this painful.  I felt soreness and it hurt when the dentures rubbed.  Call your Dentist.  I had 27 teeth pulled and immediate dentures put in.  After the first 24 hours they told me to wear them as long as I could and when they hurt to take them out.  Be sure to soak them in something that is antibacterial.  I had stitches from one ear to the other on upper and lower.  Salt water rinses helped a lot.  As warm as you can stand the water to be with lots of salt and as many times as you want.  Like I said see your Dentist and tell him where and how much it hurts.  They can adjust them and help with the pain.  Also I don't think it will hurt to leave them out for a while and let your gums heal.  Good Luck!

I was told to wear mine for 24 hours, then after a day or 2 to take them out at night so the gums could get air. I think most were given the same advice. It has been a little over 4 weeks since I had 27 teeth extracted and got my immediate dentures. I go without mine a lot on the weekends.

Good luck on your journey
