Many of us who have lived with bad/missing teeth have a list of foods that are simply off limit and impossible to eat...nuts, corn on the cob, apples, etc.

What was the first food from your "off-limits" list you attempted to eat and were you successful?

For me it was a raw baby carrot the minute I got home from the dentist and I did surprisingly well. I'm on day three with my permanents (I didn't go with immediates) and so far I've successfully managed tortilla chips, corn (not on the cob) and baked chicken, but eating that carrot was a life changing experience. I haven't had a raw carrot in at least 5 years.

Yeah, it was the first thing I could eat that I hadn't in a long time.  Pretty much anything really cold had to be consumed through a straw.  Not a problem any more!  Yay!

I got humbled by my dinner last night.  Ive been craving a juicy steak for weeks, so grilled a ribeye.  Normal size bites are out, at least for now.  Finally got the right size, but by then my adhesive had quit on me and my jaws were spent.  Good learning experience (and what I managed to get down tasted goooooood!)

That is exactly what I ate the day before I had my surgery I had a juicy rib-eye so thick and so large it was wonderful the day before that I had Lobster and the day before that I had pizza so I got my favorite rings in and a hamburger homemade sirloin I got in all my favorite foods before I knew I was not going to be able to touch any of them for at least a month or more so I can I'm feeling you on the steak but that is so out of my realm of possibility right now I hate you for even mentioning it because now all I can think about is a wonderful medium-rare ribeye smothered with mushrooms or a big six slice of prime rib I will be drooling for the rest of the day thank you so much

I've been gunning for a burger since day 1, but just havent had the chance yet.  I did pick up some patties and buns at the store, so I'm going to test run at home before I hit the magical In-n-Out.  I've also been craving all you can eat Korean food (there's an awesome one near me) but holding off on until I'm dead bang positive I can do it.

This weekend was a lot of food experimenting to gauge where I'm at in that department.  Bacon is still a challenge right now (either too chewy or too crisp), but poached eggs on toast worked well.  Steamed broccoli is awesome, until you get that one stem that isnt completely soft and breaks your upper loose.  Klondike bar? Nailed it!  I even had a couple pieces of my wife's popcorn the other day - as long as I went slow and didnt cram a handful in at once, its was good.

I'm kind of a goal oriented person, so setting food landmarks seems to be working for me.  Right now, its a burger.  Once I've hit that mark, its korean food.  After that, I'm going to revisit the steak again.  Everyone has to find their pace and their timeline - you'll get your steak soon, Diane!  Its rough going at first, but once you find the right combination of adhesive, healing and time - you'll be hitting all that good grub again.
