It's going on 5 months that I had my teeth pulled and immediate dentures. I still can't eat crap. I live on pasta, scrambled eggs and mashed potatoes. I can chew anything. I've tried but I think the teeth are crap. In about 5 weeks I go in to get my permanent ones. And they are suppose to be the top of the line. I just hope and pray that I will be able to eat again. I've lost over 30 lbs so far. It is so depressing. Went to county fairs and couldn't eat. My birthday is coming up in October. Sure would be nice to go out for a nice dinner with my man. Just really regretting all this. I wish I would of had a second opinion. I wonder if there was something that could have been done besides pulling them all. Grrr. Very frustrated and depressed.

my dentist has made 2 sets of horrible temporary dentures Ive gone 5 months with no teeth and she stitched my gums so tight my tongue is hurting really bad, her and her assistant dont listen and the assitant is mean. I cancelled my appt yesterday I told them I have a cold and today I went to another dentist for help, I read great reviews about him and the whole office, they have a lab right there so I am switching to him and praying for a great result. Ive had enough horrible treatent. I'm out $1000 so far and probably have to borrow another $1000 to get the upgraded denture I want , But I refuse to let the other dentist and her nasty assistant near me, even if it cost me money. After feeling like I was mentally going to lose it, to having a little faith that I might have tetth again someday soon, Maybe I will sleep tonite.

It's been 8 months since I had all my teeth extracted and had bone grafts. I barely wore my temporary dentures as they were too big and had baby teeth. Besides not having the right bite, the top made me gag most times and the bottom made me look like I had my lower lip stuffed with cotton. Now I've healed enough and got my permanent set yesterday and they are still wrong! Add to that, I got a chemical burn from the soft lining on my lowers and full of blisters. My dentist and staff are all great, but I'm thinking the lab they are using is horrible! Have to see him tomorrow to discuss. I'm so frustrated, disappointed, and depressed! My whole life has changed and so has my self-esteem. Spent $35k ($8k loan, rest paid by insurance) and I guess I expected it to be like those people in a commercial. You know, nice smile, eating food, and happy. Praying for a miracle.

Now for the rest of the story. If you recall the dentist that made my initial denture and was in a hurry to charge me for a permanent set. He had also agreed to refund any money spent on the permanent set. What follows is my appeal letter to the insurance company and the Smiles Generation Credit Card has already credited my account and has opened an investigation into Foothills Smiles.
On 02/23/18 I had my teeth removed and an immediate denture placed at Foothills Smiles LLP. The denture was partially paid for with my last years (2017) insurance plan at Met Life. The remainder was billed to Delta Dental on 02/23/18.
The denture has never fit my mouth and has been 100% unusable by me. I have gone in 5 times for adjustments with no change in the outcome. Dr. Jarvis explained to me that these initial dentures were “healing” dentures and were only to be used until “permanent” dentures were made. He told me how they were far more detailed and would fit my mouth better. This was his solution after the 5th attempt to correct the denture had failed. Since this was all new to me, I trusted what the Dentist was telling me.
I was then presented with a bill for the “permanent” denture that I was surprised to see; I thought I had already paid for all of this. I was again assured that this was the correct next step. Since I was not prepared to pay for a second denture, Foothills Smiles opened an account for me with Smile Generations. They were billed 1999.20 for a denture. I have since found out that Delta Dental was billed that same day for an upper and lower denture.
It was not until I started doing some research and talking to others with dentures on a forum site, Denture Living that I started to question what was happening next. I went back to see the Dentist and explained my concerns about a second denture. Why would I have him make a second one when he could not get the first one to fit? He understood explaining that he would refund any monies spent on the second denture thus far. That was 04/06/2018.
I have since found out that all adjustments associated with the first denture were to be included in the initial cost for up to 6 months. It seems that between my out of pocket payment and the payment made by Delta Dental for these adjustments that a refund is in order. It was not until I received an EOB from Delta Dental explaining why the claim was denied because adjustments were included in the initial charge, and have been wrongly charged.
I am requesting that all money paid to Foothills Smiles be fully investigated and refunded where possible

My extractions were done on 05/09/19 and the temporary upper and lower dentures were put in. I had to go back first thing the next morning because the frontal gum and teeth were protruding so badly that I couldn't drink anything. The tech was able to shave the gum area down enough to allow me to drink, I can still barely close my lips over the overbite that I now have that I never had before. If they rest my upper and lower plates on a counter, everything aligns perfectly. Once they are in my mouth, however, that goes to hell, I have the overbite and nothing aligns properly. Any attempt to 'chew' anything causes extreme pain, especially from the lower plate. I have been back for 3 adjustments already and with all of them, no sooner do I get home than I have to take it out because it won't even stay in my mouth when I'm talking. There is a bulge on one side that constantly makes it look like I have a small wad of chewing tobacco tucked in there but they just say that my gum protrudes out further on that side. I call BS, there is an actual 'shelf' of denture standing out off of my gum pushing my face out of shape and making my entire mouth look deformed. Back Wednesday morning, I think they owe me a set of temporary dentures that don't give me an overbite that I never had before and don't make my face look deformed.
Have you went for a 2nd opinion? May be worth a try. I also agree something doesn’t sound right.

Tell them You want a denture you can wear and not this defective one.
If they do not remedy it and agree that they must give you what you paid for go home and compose a short demand letter (look it up on the internet)
Tell them you have done everything they have asked you to do and this denture is defective and you want a refund
This ought to bring some results
Perhaps you can ask them to have you go directly to the denturist lab ( where the denture is made) and have the head denturist look at it in your mouth to make the appropriate new denture for you/
Dentists are the middle man when it comes to making dentures and not as good as the denturist that makes the dentures.

Oh, I so know this runaround. You pay a pretty penny for these healing dentures that are a joke. I had asked my dentist where he got my teeth, off the shelf or something? He said pretty much. Those never fit or even came close to fitting, but he got his money. Feb 2019 was a year since I had my teeth removed. April 2019 I had a new upper made by a different dentist and now after a year of having no teeth to wear I finally have an upper. They say it becomes second nature and you don't even know you have it in. I never see that happening. Still no lower denture.
My schedule didn't allow me to get in today but I have an appointment at 9 tomorrow morning, let's see how this goes. I wore upper and lower partials for years, these 'healing dentures' are causing me pain in places where nothing was done this time, places that are used to having this hard plastic on them.
All it takes is one little spot or a little movement.

Beth, my dentist had to have her lab make 3 sets of dentures before I got a set that fit so be demanding when you go, I had to tell them I was going to the local news if she didnt remedy the situation
Well! What I thought was a copy of the treatment plan wasn't that at all, I don't believe they actually gave me a copy of it! None of this is helped by me being 900 miles from home with my husband who suffered a traumatic brain injury in an accident on 12/29/18. I'm in a constant fog trying to keep up with everything for him, much less myself right now, no home of our own....my only norms are my job and my truck!

So, things started off really badly yesterday. I was the 3rd person in the door, at 8:53, with a 9:00 appt. At 9:55, I was still sitting in the waiting room, knowing I had to have my husband at an appt at 11. I calmly voiced my displeasure and had to reschedule the appointment for yesterday afternoon. Once I got in, and the dentist really looked in my mouth, she was very understanding and not too happy when she found numerous open sores, even on the bottom (which I have barely worn). She immediately had the tech start grinding away, trying to make it better. I told her of the jaw pain and headaches/migraines that I am experiencing when trying to wear the bottom, especially. She now agrees that this can't continue. She has asked me to try to make-do until next week so new impressions can be taken once she is sure that all swelling from the extractions has gone down. Hopefully, the additional adjustments will make it a little more bearable. The bottom is now so loose that I will have to firmly 'glue it in place' when trying to wear it, but at least some of the pain is lessened. I'll keep you updated but thank you so much for the support and advice!

Barbara, I found a group on line, and NO Im not going to do it but they are, MAKING THEIR OWN DENTURES. Its a group of people who are buying supplies on line for about $300 and litterally making their own dentures, and they look great and they work, its called Do Your Own Dentures, anyone can join but you must answer the questions or the moderator will NOT approve you, she is a very nice lady though so answer the questions if you want to join. The people are all very nice and its just amazing ( at least to me ) that they are actually doing it. I dont know if I could, I do my adjustments and as you know Ive done my horseshoe and thats working, so maybe?? But I encourage people to check it out someone who is inclined to be handy or crafty or thrifty just may be able to make their own and save thousands and not have to go to mexico or anywhere else.

Strike 2, and I don't know that I am going to give them the chance for strike 3!!! The dentist agreed to have a new set of 'temps' made to replace the first set that fit so incredibly bad. New impressions and wow, that resulted in a set that was identical to the first! The lab tech came in for a chair side and she, the dentist and the office manager all promised that I would be so happy! She commented that when she looked at my impressions she saw nothing like my actual bone structure. Several weeks later, I was given my new set that were supposed to be able to be the permanent set, as they were made so well. Well? My front teeth are a good 1/4" outside of where they are supposed to be! Molars? Same thing! I can look at the inside of the acrylic and clearly see where my teeth are supposed to be and this is so wrong, still! I can't chew anything but the softest foods, I have raw spots in my mouth from the rubbing and after being out of the state for a week and a half after taking delivery and having 1 adjustment, the dentist wouldn't give me an appointment until the 20th, for another adjustment attempt, even, and I called on the 6th!
My Denture teeth are not inline with where my "previous " teeth are either ( I believe at the very least the front ones are supposed to be that way , in order to appear "normal" and still attach properly to the denture they are slightly in front of where they originally sat) I had some of the same issues as you have , they made a second set only 10 days after the extractions and first set , With mine it looked like the original bottom denture was twisted and bent , one side higher than the other and I could not even stand to wear it . I have found relief from the pain by using benzodent cream ( has a not so pleasant clove taste and had to get it online but it works so much better than anything else and lasts ) I only had to use it for a few days after each "reline" ( I have had 2) to get past the sore areas . I still feel like my dentures are very bulky and think they look odd like I have a lip full of tobacco or something , As far as eating just continuing to work on it , small bites chewing on both sides at once takes a lot of getting used to , I'm still on mostly soft foods , if I want something like steak I break out the ninja food processor and blend it until I can "deal with it" , it isn't pretty but at least it tastes good , hope your adjustment wasn't too bad I hate the taste of the reline... kind of like minty nail polish remover and takes forever for that taste to go away or at least become tolerable , Dentures definitely are not like getting a pair of shoes, much more like getting a new arm or leg and having to figure out how to relearn basics is definitely not fun

So! This took a really crazy turn! After returning to FL from VA, I called for an appointment. The receptionist would not give me an appointment until Wednesday (21st), a week and a half out. I went to my appointment and was forced to wait for more than an hour past my appointment time (11:30) before I was even called back. Once they had the place emptied out for lunch, they doctor and her son, who is her office manager (and a very large man), came in. She defensively asked me what was wrong. I tried to explain the issues to her and she immediately went into a tirade on me, with her son piping in. They accused me of being a customer that can't be satisfied, told me to get another dentist and tried to take the poor fitting dentures from me then and there! I refused to hand them over, made them give me a letter, in writing stating that when I got new dentures made from somewhere else and returned both bad sets to them, they will refund me $1800.00. When I mentioned laws around prosthetic devices, the dentist started yelling that she was calling the police to have me removed from her office. She never did listen to 1 issue I have, nor would they do any kind of adjusting to get rid of the sores in my mouth. So...here's where I am now! I managed to get the lab info from them and reached out via Facebook. The local office for the lab ended up being less than 2 miles from my address, and a national manager was visiting for the day. I was there, in FL, in less than 10 minutes after talking with someone in Chicago. The lab staff listened to every concern I have and validated every concern I have as being correct. These still don't fit right and there is no functionality at all (food falls out of my mouth if I don't hold my head back when trying to eat). The real winner? After all of my complaining through the first set, and now the second set, having this overbite that I never had? THE DENTIST told the lab tech to replace my normal Class 1 frontal bite with a default Class 3, which gives the overlapping bite!!! That (bitch) lied, she and her son attacked me, and then I learn this!! I am now in a bad spot of having to find another local dentist to do impressions for me so I can then work directly with the lab to get a proper set made. I can't go back to the first dentist. I hope that whoever I find will do this for me at a minimal charge, I have been through so much and put out so much $ already, but I am back at square 1. Oh, and Amazon is delivering my Dremel today that I will use to try to get some of the bad spots out of this set!
I do believe that the dentist couldn't accept the fact that she was totally wrong about the 'new bite' she wanted me to have that I never asked for and didn't want myself. She had already had to 'eat crow' when she had to admit that every complaint I had about the first set was valid, and now every complaint, primarily her fault, about the second set, is also valid. Oh, did I mention that along with food falling out of my mouth uncontrollably, I also sometimes whistle when I talk? THAT's so much fun, when speaking on a conference call with 200+ attendees, and they know exactly who you are....and you whistle when you say specific words and cannot control it. These people have caused me so much personal heartache, pain and embarrassment. They tried to make me think I am such a horrible person. I don't care how many happy customers they have, they treated me like dirt.

My insurance company is now involved as I have now discovered that they overcharged a Care Credit account, basing costs on their method of balancing out the insurance versus what is excessive over the insurance payouts. I have filed an official grievance with the insurance company and I will have information on my personal representative in 5 business days. The doctor's son is her office manager. She is very small, he is a very large (muscular) man. He only wears black spandex-type t-shirts, which bring attention to his size. When I was in the chair on Wednesday, she was in front of me, yelling at me about how 'this is just the way it has to be' while he was beside me, leaning in, yelling at me about how I was so ungrateful, look at all of the discounts he gave me! LMAO! His discounted rate for what he determined would be extractions not covered by my insurance was $200 each, but the agreed-upon amount with my insurance is only $131 and I should only have to pay that amount for anything in excess of my insurance benefits. His 'discount' for the dentures, already charged yet a satisfactory set have not yet been provided, was $38 more for each than the agreed-upon rate with my insurance. They are majorly cooking the books and defrauding people. I am contacting Care Credit next and letting my insurance company defend me to them for now.
I had to demand (3 times) an itemized statement of what was charged to the Care Credit account before it was provided to me. He, the office manager, didn't want to give it to me. He also advised that if they feel that they owe someone a refund, they never reverse the credit charges, they only cut a check. This is getting more and more fun!

They have at least 3 to 4 dentists that are each in the office 1-2 days a week, it seems in an overlapping schedule. I think there may be a few offices that are connected and they rotate around, or something like that, but I'm not sure. The office manager mentioned that they have been in business for more than 10 yrs. I'm wondering how many people they have stolen how much money from over those 10 years!
Care Credit has put the entire originally charged amount into a disputed status. Delta Dental has a grievance filed by me to investigate them as well. Based on some other things that were said to me, in response to my 'reminding' them that there are laws around prosthetics and some things are illegal, it is viable to say that I was threatened, intimidated and bullied. That behavior has been reported as well. A HUGE 'kicker' is my passing the info on to Care Credit that they are overcharging Care Credit accounts and then, 'if they feel that the person is due a refund', they only cut a check to issue the refund, they never reverse the credit account charges. Anti-money laundering rules do not allow that to happen, goods purchased by credit card must be refunded to the credit card, no cash refunds or 3rd party transfers are allowed.
