Try dentures first without adhesive, some people don't need it at all and then the best thing to do is to watch different  YouTube videos for fittings, biting and adhesives, depending on the denture ( top/bottom)

I have had dentures since 1997, have tried many different adhesives and find that 1 product will work well and then it will stop working, the FB page sounds like a good idea, I will check it out later ..back to work ! :)

Melanie I'm so happy for u that u will b getting ur perms soon!!!! Yay!!!! I know u have been ready for it!!! If u need adhesive the best by far I've found is secure and poligrip powder. I use secure when I'm going sum where and KNOW I don't want any slips but the poligrip powder works really really good too.

Use the sea bond wafers. They are the best and you don't have messy paste to try and get off of your gums! They hold all day and peel right off when you take your dentures out.

My denture dude told me to buy a small package of every denture adhesive I ran across. I use the Fixodent superior hold and so far like it so much I haven't felt I needed to try anything else, yet. He said it's all personal preference.

Secure and most of the poligrip is zinc free

maybe that's why they don't work as well as when they had Zinc, I have had dentures for 20 yrs and I would say for the past 8-10 yrs the formulas don't work as effectively.

I have found that the zinc free formulas do not hold as well as the ones with zinc.

I agree, there must of been a reason they took the zinc out , but it effected the effectiveness .

I use secure both the adhesive and their strips. Everything else gives out in a few hours. Hopefully, you won't need it.

I must try the olivafix. The SECURE is excellent, but as the day goes on, there is a slightly gritty residue in my mouth. But if I want to go out for a really nice meal........first time I used it, my comment was, "oh, my gosh, I can actually chew food!

However, Secure works so well that it is sometimes difficult to get it off your gums. I have the best success with a baking soda in fairly hot water rinse...... switch it around in your mouth. Then a baby (soft) toothbrush to scrub the gums clean. I'm an old timer here. Have had dentures about three years. And they don't get any better. Worse, maybe.

I would say the entire denture situation, because I have had them for 20 yrs now, and I don't think dentistry has mastered the art of making dentures or new technology to make them. Why not make them soft like kids fake fangs :) ...................

I totally agree Dentures have not kept up with advances in new materials.
However, that being said, check out this:
Karadent by TCS
I want to try it on my next set.

I think as far as the look of dentures, they are much better. I really don't think any one can tell. As far as comfort they have a long way to go. With adhesive it really is a matter of preference. I have tried them all and none of them work great but I think Secure is probably best. I also think that some people especially those of our grandmas were just so happy to have teeth that they may have complained less than I do. Good luck!!!

I'm so happy for you!

I'm one month out and had my first reline today and what a difference a month makes! I still don't like how the dentures push my lips out (kinda looks like a have chewing tobacco in my bottom lip) but I'm able to eat!

ThAnks Tim! That pic is without the bottoms, still trying to get used to them wore them again today! Need to get an adjustment I have a lot of running on my gums! To be expected but DM dentist said she can adjust! Worst case I nees my bone shaved down!!' I hope not! I'm getting more and more hopeful and a little less panicked every time I wear them and reading stories on here about how it truly takes some time especially if you didn't have temps to adjust!!! But ty again for the sweet compliment!

Usually they do the alveoloplasty (bone shaving/gum contouring) when they do the extractions?

Haha I'll check that out! I was concerned about one spot at my last oral surgeon visit in July to have a tiny piece of tooth removed that got left in there. He said if it becomes a problem the dentist will send you back. I have it on both sides one side I felt right away when dentires weee put in by dentist. So she made a minor adjustment, now the other side after 2-3 days become extremely irritated and wen I use the secure it almost burns. Bit for a second, anyway the box on the secure said this may happen and if it effects u wait 30 sexonds after you apply it to dentires to put it on! Anyway I got sidetracked lol o will ask her to make adjustments and if it still an issue I will finback to surgeon! Going to check out that link now thanks TRF you've been amazing like a dentire angel sent from the denture living gods lol
