Hey everyone, I'm 33 years old and was having a lot of problems with my teeth up until the 16th(four days ago) when I went and had all my bottom teeth removed and got dentures. I've been following all the instructions they gave me, stopped smoking, soft foods etc. I have a follow up in three days and am thinking all will be good, my stitches are healing nicely(i think but I'm not a doctor) and the pain is becoming less and less every day. I don't have questions, I simply want to encourage anyone who is not able to eat because of teeth problems, or self-conscious about your smile, this is something I should have done long ago. And even though I can't eat solid foods yet, I definitely think I should have gone and gotten this taken care of long ago. So to anyone wondering if this is the right choice, Take my advice and do it, you will not regret it when you look in the mirror and see a real happy smile for the first time in years!!!!!!!

Thank you so much for this post! This is truly what I needed to hear. I'm turning 33 soon & have had a lot of issues with my teeth for the longest time as well. It's gotten to the point recently where I'm on an all liquid diet because I simply cannot bite or chew food anymore. Not to mention being so self conscious about smiling or even talking to people that I've pretty much been a hermit for a few years. I keep psyching myself out about going to get it taken care of, but you're right, the benefits far outweigh anything else. This was really encouraging to hear. I'm so happy for you! :-)

vanessa, don't get me wrong it's scary and hurts, but I'm thinking about the big juicy steak at the end of this road.  I have been on a liquid diet as well so i feel your pain. Best of luck in whatever you decide!! I'll be thinking of you :)

Due to chemo my teeth are awful! I'm set to have what's left of the uppers (7) and lowers (10) extracted on the 30th. I'm SO nervous

I had Chemo too and radiation . My teeth a mess. However, I only pulled my top teeth due to lack of money. My dentist was very honest. He said 30% of people never get used to dentures. I never dreamed I would be one. If you can get a loan, do anything you can do to keep your teeth regardless of cost. I have not eaten with another human or been out for dinner in 2 years. For me , this is worse than what I went through beating cancer. Worst decision I have made in my whole life! I’m thrilled some people adjust but please be aware that some people never do. Hope it works out for you. Good luck.

I am 73 and had to get full dentures a month ago. Have been eating only soft foods and soups as my dentures are too big. My dentist doesn’t listen to me in that fact and I am getting very frustrated. I can’t afford implants as I’ve taken out a loan for these and can’t wear them at all. I have another appointment this week and am hoping they help with the problem. I don’t understand why it’s so hard to have proper dentures made and do what they are supposed to do for the money spent. It is very depressing and seem to thrive off of the elderly!!
