Any update yet?

I can't use the tool as a history teacher if there is no BC possibility. I really think this has a lot of potential and we would love to use it in our school in history classes, but a BC option is pretty much necessary for us.

I think xtimeline is not as usefull as dipity, but they do have BC dates integrated in their system. Could you please let me know if there will be an update before the end of august? Thanks in advance.

I teach theatre and would love to be able to add BC dates to my timeline. Dipity has been an awesome addition to my class.

kind of absurd, timelines without b.C!?!?!??!!
I mean, Dipity is seriously a good tool for history teacher, but without B.C. I just simply can not conceive you didn't consider b.C dates.
I'll also be waiting for the b.C

For all you looking for BC dating, we've got an update: We've been hard at work on some core changes to the back-end and front-end that will make BC dating on Dipity possible. Look for these changes to be ready in the next 90 days or so, for real!

Hello Dipsters,

Just a quick update on BC dating. We haven't not been ignoring your comments or feedback and we want to make BC dating a part of Dipity as much as you do. It may not seem like a complex feature to develop, but the way computers approach time makes it quite a challenge to work with.

Although, BC dating is a high priority for Dipity, it has not nbeen the highest. We needed to redevelop the back-end technology here at Dipity and as a start-up we have pretty limited resources. Now that we have a better, faster Dipity we are making a serious pledge to our customers to implement BC dating by the end of 2010. Yes, sigh... another 90 days.

To prove how serious we are, we would like to extend the offer of a free upgraded account to anyone previously involved in this thread. The free upgrade will last until we fully implement the BC dating feature. In addition, we would also like to offer you a free, custom-made Dipity BC dating T-shirt. To redeem your Dipity schwag and free account, email me at steve@dipity.com.

Thank you for you for your patience,

Steve

The FAQ on Digity says "Do you support dates before 100 A.D. or dates B.C.?
We're working on this and expect it to come out in the first part of 2009, but we currently don't support dates before the year 100 A.D."

Since its 2010 are there BC dates available now

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled
Has BC been updated yet?.

Hello Andrew,

Please read the above thread and check the current FAQs on the site:

Do you support dates before 100 A.D. or dates B.C.?

The switch to the new Dipity widget has made pre 100 A.D. dating possible. However, we have yet to fully implement this important tool. BC dating, including specific BC dating, should be available soon. Stay tuned.

Thank you for your patience and stay tuned!

We're nearly there David. We pretty much have it set up, but at this point it's just a question of upgrading the servers to support it. I will follow up with you soon and let you know.

I too am hoping this feature comes out very soon. Hopefully within a week or so. This feature plus printing capability plus duration bars would make this many times better than TimeRime.

28,800 minutes have passed. I have two projects 3 weeks behind schedule. Can we have an accurate time table of when the servers will be updated?

Nother dissatisfied customer here decamping to xtimeline. What a really unsatisfactory way to string people along.

Hey Kate and Everyone else,

Sorry. = (

We're definitely not trying to string anyone along. We built BC dating and then suddenly realized that almost half of our servers were unable to calculate BC dates!

As a result, we either have to upgrade our servers or figure out a way to offload these date calculations to just the servers that can do it.

It's unfortunate that we ran into this problem, and as a bootstrapped startup it makes quick, costly changes hard to implement.

We hope that those of you waiting on BC dating will come back to Dipity once we solve the problem. Until then, please accept our humblest apologies.

We are educators that want to use timelines for online courses. As a developer, I have deadlines - courses need to run. Could you offer to host the EDUCATIONAL customers on the servers that work?

I suspect that would be a subset your users, and thus would not require all your resources.

Wow, it is sure going to feel good to mark this thread as finished! After our awesome engineering team was able to work their magic, we now officially offer BC dating to our users.

It's been a while, and we thank those of you who have hung in there. We really appreciate your concern and patience and hope you will test out the new dating and provide your feedback.

We now offer a timescale ranging from 9999BC to 9999AD. That is 20 whole Millennia!
