Do Not ignore the importance of Roster Requirements!

When creating a league in the DraftAnalyzer APP many users (Especially those importing their leagues) ignore the importance of their Roster requirements. DO NOT BE ONE OF THEM!!!

The Roster requirements is one of the most important settings in the DA app and are a main key in how well our software recommends your picks. Many users simply set the max number of players at a given position very high so to not limit how many can be chosen.

However, when it comes to the DraftAnalyzer these Max totals tell our software exactly how many players at that position you want to draft and will base its recommendations off of that. So, if you have your max values all set at 8, our software will think this is a 40 round draft and recommend picks accordingly! The App will attempt to draft you 8 players at each of those positions!

The MAX Numbers of players at a given position when combined should all add up to the amount of rounds in your draft. These Max totals should also reflect the exact number of players you want to draft at a given position. So if you want 1 kicker then the Max is 1.

Here are a few sample roster settings.

No Flex

If you play in a standard league that DOES NOT play a flex roster and has 16 rounds which starts 1QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1TE,1K, 1D.

              Start            Max

QB             1                 2     (I usually only draft 1 Qb and will add another to my RB max.)

RB             2                 5

WR            3                 6

*Note*     (Unless your league requires you to draft 2 of each we recommend only drafting 1 at the below positions.)
TE             1                 1

K               1                 1

DT             1                 1

Flex option
If you play in a league that does allow a Flex option. (16rnds, 1QB, 2RB, 2 or 3WR, 1TE, 1K, 1D)

              Start             Max

Qbs           1                  2      (I only usually draft 1 Qb and will add another to my RB max. )

RBs           2                  5

WRs          3                  6      (If you start only 2 WR's we still recommend leaving your max at 6)

TE             1                  1      (We do not suggest you take 2 TEs. Just add 1 during the Bye week.)

K               1                  1      (NEVER DRAFT 2 KICKERS!!!)

DT            1                  1      (Add a 2nd during your bye.)

RB/WR     1                  1      (Your Flex Max's will lock at whatever your starters are set at)

Targeting a specific position for your Flex
If you do play in a Flex league and feel strongly that you want that player to be certain position, (Say RB) I recommend that you add a starter to your RBs (or WRs if preferred) and set the flex starters at 0! This way the software targets this player many rounds earlier. This year more than ever we do not see much value in the late round RB/WR. This will now target you 3 big BULL RBs that will pound you to a championship!!
These are the setting I personally find best!

             Start             Max

Qbs          1                  1    ( I never draft 2 Qbs. Every year a top 5 guys come off the wire.)

RBs          3                  6

WRs         3                  6

TEs           1                  1

DT            1                  1

K               1                  1

(Unless a league requires that you draft Kicker Do not!! Add one right before season and save the slot for an extra RB or even a 2nd QB if you want)
All Others flex options get set at 0!

Draft Only or Draft Masters
If you play in a Draft Only style format league with a Flex option. (20rnds, 1QB, 2RB, 2 or 3WR, 1TE, 1K, 1D)

               Start           Max

Qbs          1                  3

RBs          2                  5

WRs         2                  5

TE             1                 2

K               1                 2

DT             1                 2

RB/WR      1                 1

(Your Flex Max's will lock to whatever total your starters are set for)

If you play in a Draft Only style format league with a Flex option. (24rnds, 1QB, 2RB, 2 or 3WR, 1TE, 1K, 1D)

             Start              Max

Qbs          1                  3

RBs          2                  6

WRs         2                  7

TE             1                 3

K               1                 2

DT             1                 2

RB/WR      1                 1     (Your Flex Max's will lock to whatever total your starters are set for)

We have really gotten some sweet teams form the DraftAnalyzer this year with these exact settings.

Hi, 4for4 has a rb heavy setting in their mock draft that has been churning out results that are pretty accurate to what I expect my draft to look like.  Is their any way this can be added?

The APP has mostly been producing RB heavy teams but that depends on your slot I guess.
If you wish to target an RB heavy draft, there are a few settings options that will help. First adjust your Roster requirements adding a few extra to your RB max. If you play in a flex league and know you want an RB, you can also set the flex starters at 0 and add an extra starter to the RB totals. This will target that RB much earlier in your draft knowing it has fewer options.
If you have a general idea of who you want to target and where, You can also Use the DRAFT PLAN. There you can target specific positions in any specific rounds thus catering for draft to your own likes.
If you wish, we do offer free live walk throughs of the APp to best help acclimate the users to all its settings and features. You can schedule this most anytime of the day or not whatever is most convenient.

So, if I'm understanding this correctly, in a league with a super flex position, it would make more sense to mark that position as zero and increase the number of starting quarterbacks? If that's the case, will changing these settings affect the program when entering the live draft since a QB does not equal  QB/RB/WR/TE? I guess what I'm asking is: will the program get confused when it's set to 2 QB's but the actual draft shows 1 QB and 1 QB/RB/WR/TE?

Thanks! The app looks great so far!

Hello Brian,
In your case yes, I would add the extra starter to my QB's for sure but would also bear in a few things in mind and make a few other adjustments when using this strategy.
Please be aware that QB's are falling further and further down the draft order every day. Far to many over value the top QB's drafting them much to early and paying a price on the rest of the roster. The top Qb's do not separate themselves from the pack near enough to make it worth the value. In a standard scoring system, a Qb like Wilson is only projected for 20 to 25 more points than a Qb like Tannenhill. But there is a 6 round difference in where they are going. 20 points does not make up for 4 to 6 rounds.
By taking a QB early and passing on the RB you are giving up as much as 50 to 75 points per RB compare to the ones you will end up with.
Let the others draft their QB's early and gobble up as many of those top 12 RBs as you can before even thinking about a QB.
With 2 QB's set as the starters, I would then make sure to set my Draft Plan within the APP to not even rec a QB for the first 4 or 5 rounds.
That way they will not interfere with the rest of your team.
You will know when it is time to pull the trigger to grab yours.
Target Tannenhill and Stafford in that range and you will be golden with those top RBs.
Please remember. You can also create and redraft for as many leagues as desired. We do not limit the number of leagues.
You can create as many as you wish to test out the various settings and Draft Plans. If you have more than one projections source, even play with the weight on those to see what the APP does.
One of the settings will stand out to you personally.

Thanks for the quick and lengthy response! Great customer service is always appreciated. Yeah, the team is 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 2 TE, 1 super flex in a 12 team PPR league. And just so you know how it's working with those settings, my experience is as follows with default standards and not messing with targets or positional avoidances at certain rounds. The program works perfectly. It's not until round 4 it even suggests a QB. Even if I manually enter in the first few picks and let Luck and Rodgers fall to me in the first, it will coldly pass on them for better value. Which, of course, is hard to pass on when you see such shiny things fall to you. I'll keep your suggestions in mind, and thank you for the assistance.

Great Brain and thanks so much for the update and info. It is much appreciated.
I know it is hard to pass on those QBs but try taking them in a few mocks just to see what the rest of your team looks like and if you are happy with the results. The beauty of the APP is that it will recalculate looking as many as 16 rounds ahead.
We always tell our customers that the APP recommends 5 players for a reason. Your gut should tell you which is right.
I do think you will be happier with the huge RB in the first rather than waiting and selecting him later.
The best of luck in your coming drafts and let us know if you have any other questions.

I would set the maxes like this personally.
Qb  1/2
RB  2/5
WR 1/5
TE   0/0
D     1/1
K     1/1
WR/TE flex 2/2

Make sure that both TE settings are 0.
This is the best way to get the players you want on your bench and get the starters you want.
I removed 1 of the flexes and added the starter to the WR so we could target WR's as the bench there.
