Mock Draft not drafting full team for other managers

No matter what settings I try, it seems that the auto mock draft won't draft kickers and defense for the other managers? Any ideas why?

I adjusted your Max Roster settings you should be good to go.  Let me know if this problem persist

Thanks,
Jay

Yeah, the Max roster settings were a touch high so each mock owner was drafting backup RBs/WRs before the Ks and DTs.

Ted, Can you check on "League ID: 330533"? I'm also having this same problem. 16-man rosters, 1QB/2RB/2WR/2FLEX/1K/1DST. Must draft complete team but draft analyzer isn't picking K or DST for most of the other teams. All of my Max settings are equal to the roster values. Thanks, Chad

I am using Fantrax and am having the same issues as the guy who started this string. I am wondering if you ever discovered and fixed his issue and would mind sharing it with me.

I have all the settings correct... requiring 1QB, 1RB, 1WR, 1TE, 1D, and 2FLEX(RB/WR/TE).  Must field a complete starting lineup.  16 man roster.  My MAX totals 16 players.

The software doesn't make my "competitors" draft a defense or kicker, even though a couple of the robots actually DO draft either a defense or kicker, but not all.

Thanks, Jeff

Hi Jeff,

I am having the development team look at this.  It is an error being caused by selecting under the Roster Requirements Tab 'Bench Any Position'  if you put that max number under one of the positions it should draft DT and Ks for each team.  I will keep you updated on this.

Ok. That worked.
Thanks

Btw... Do you have a date when the defenses will be updated to this years projections? They appear to still be running off of last years data.
Thanks

Just updated the Def for FG.  They don't have the ranges for Points Against or Yards Against projected, so I added those projections from ProFootballFocus.  If your scoring rules don't include any of those ranges, it won't matter.

Clear your browsers cache and see if the projected points look better.  They should.  Thank you Jeff.

I'm having the same problem in a Yahoo league. If I set "Bench: Any position" to 6 spots, a majority of CPU teams fails to draft K and DEF in a mock draft. I can sort of fix this by setting Bench to 0 and upping the max for RB and WR. But this isn't great either, because then *every* team drafts the exact same number of RBs, WRs, TEs, Ks, etc.

This issue - identified over a year ago - still persists. The "work around" produces unrealistic mock drafts, which is comically in direct conflict with your post on here stating the "importance of mock drafts."

If mock drafts were important, this issue would be resolved so that realistic mock drafts can be produced and practiced.

I definitely feel you on this mock draft for Any Bench settings.  We have tweaked the algorithms a lot to make them as realistic as possible.  The challenge with Any Bench is getting the proper amount of players at different positions without getting too many or zero.  If 3 defenses were drafted, it would be inaccurate just like zero.  But we will keep improving the mock draft engine.  The other challenge we run into is some drafts are 15 rounds, some are 16 rounds, some are 20 rounds or longer...with varying roster settings and league sizes, so it makes it very difficult to get it right in every scenario.  We have and will continue to improve the mock draft engine and your posts and feedback are VERY important, so we greatly appreciate the gold hard truth!!

I will dive into this for the league IDs you posted and see what we can tweak.  Thank you!

I have the same issue with other teams not drafting defenses or kickers. Any suggestions on how to address effectively without throwing off picks at other positions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. JC

Hi John - I will try to tweak our mock draft engine to better support your league settings.  16 teams and 13 rounds with those roster settings is slightly out of the norm 12 team/16 rounds, but should definitely be doable.  Hope to have the tweak live by end of day today.  Thank you for posting your League ID.

Ted, are those tweaks being rolled out more generally? I'm seeing this issue across two different leagues. One is a 12-team, 15-round draft, another is a 12-team 14-round draft. I just ran two quickie drafts and this is what the rosters ended up looking like:

In the first example, CPU1 has no DEF or K, while CPU12 has two DEFs and no K. Only two CPU teams picked a K.

In the second example, you have teams with three QBs, two DEFs (though at least they took a K), etc.

It doesn't seem like this should be that hard... just have the CPU do what a human owner would do and, in each round, check their roster requirements vs. remaining picks available. The fact that this is still happening is making it impossible to do useful mocks in the tool, and more importantly making me doubt whether I can rely on this tool in the actual drafts.

Could it be that what is throwing off the CPU is that my leagues have one keeper that gets taken in the final round?

League IDs are 99528 and 90577.

PS: what is up with the Yahoo ADP source? Saquon Barkley available in the 5th round? Jerick McKinnon in the 8th?

wow I'm seeing the same problem in my 8 team league with 16 rounds.  Most of my teams in mock drafts don't select a def or kicker.  Even though the Roster positions say starters should be 1 DEF and 1 Kicker.  I write code for a living and this seems like a no brainer.  If you have the code to recognize the madatory starters columns, then you should draft that position.  Why isn't it that simple?
