When I go to upload a new 'shot' (with a regular alphanumeric filename) this error comes back:

Rails Application Failed to Start

Quite confused.

Hi Anthony,

Hmm, strange. Not sure what the problem is. Site (and Rails application) are up and running. I just published a shot and that worked as well. Even if we were having errors, that's not the type of message I'd expect to see. Shot in the dark - do you run Rails locally? If so, wondering if somehow the form is getting posted there.

Anyway, let me know if you're still seeing the problem. If so, I can try to do some debugging if you are able/willing to send us the image you're trying to upload. You can send it to contact at dribbble dot com.

Sorry you're having trouble with the site. Thanks for reporting the problem.

I'll e-mail the image along in a moment.

I don't run rails locally, I've never seen this error before either or even heard of it which makes it strange. It's been kicking back the same error for me now for over 12 hours.

I'm sure it's something minor, I really cant wait for it to be working for me again so I can carry on using it :)

Email on its way :)

Just wanted to update with the little I know - I tried uploading your image locally (just to rule out anything strange about the file or name itself) with no issues.

The other strange thing is that I don't see the error you're referring to in our logs. As I mentioned, it's sort of a surprising message - the evidence suggests that the request to upload isn't even coming to Dribbble. Though I have no explanation as to why that would be or where it *is* going.

Do you have any new or unusual browser plugins or extensions that might impact the upload form? I'm admittedly grasping for straws at this point since I haven't seen (in the logs) or heard from other users about an issue like this.

The only other things I can suggest is deleting the dribbble cookie and restarting the browser. (Which browser is it btw?) Would also be curious if you experience the same problem in another browser.

Sorry about the problem, good luck.

Hi Rich,

I've tried everything you've suggested and I'm still getting the same error strangely. I've tried both Firefox and Internet Explorer and nothing is changing.

I have disabled all plugins, cleared all cookies and shut down all other applications that interface with the internet while attempting to upload but to no avail.

Hi Rich,

I tried uploading a different image of something I'm working on and it went down fine with no issues. That's mega strange!

Just wanted to thank you for all of your help, it's much appreciated!

Long live Dribbble!

Glad you were able to hoist a different shot. BTW, I just uploaded the image you sent us in production (I had tried it locally before) and it worked from my account. (I quickly deleted it.) So I continue to be flummoxed.

I'd be curious to know what happens if you try that image again. Anyway, glad you're back.

I'll let you know if it happens again, I'll try resave the same image and see if it actually works, very strange, just my luck!!

Random question, how does one earn more "shots" ?

Cheers!

We issue more shots on the first of each month. I expect that we'll eventually have reward systems to earn shots, but that's still on the drawing board.
