I’m frustrated and angry!

eBay site no longer let's you go to classic web site using an iPhone. Please fix.

I use the iPhone 4. I do ALL my Internet and expecially eBay on my phone. I rarely have time to use a pc. Before I could open safari , google, then go to eBay classic site. Occasionally I would get the mobile site ( which I absolutely detest!). But I could click on a link for classic site and be ok. Now I can't see my messages, lists, saved sellers, contact seller if i have a question about item. If I can ask a ? Then I'm not going to buy it. I can't refine search for north America only. Not everyone has all day to find an item that is not coming from hong kong. Can not see my feedback left fir me. How much feedback I have or my %. To leave feedback on items won I can't go to leave feedback and have a list that shows me who is waiting for feedback. If I want to leave feedback now I have to click on a won item to see if I've left feedback or can. One item at a time. Who has that kind of time to waste???!! The classic site was sook much better in so nanyang other ways. To many to list. Also I do not have access to saved messages or messages already in my inbox. What gouda is that feature if I can't access it? Dors not show eBay bucks earned. Dors not show total amount of money spent so far. No statement on summary page letting you know how Many items ate waiting for pmt. Or how many sellers waiting for feedback. Don't see where I can save a search or a list of recently viewed items. You get the picture. PLEASE. add a link to go to classic site when iPhone users go to eBay sites. If this isn't changed I'm afraid I'll have to take business elsewhere. I can't be the only one that feels this way. My email is mmg005042@gmail.com. Misty Henderson. Tsusmmh. Contact # is 318-470-7742. Can someone email, text or call and let me know if this ever get changed. If so when. If not why?

Thank you

  • I’m super angry
I also am so angry about this issue!! The iphone app is really crappy, even worse than this mobile site actually... it's far too simplistic. Now the forced mobile site is outrageous! It doesn't allow me to do what I need to do! Unlike the OP's issue I have to be able to specify "Worldwide" in my search otherwise it's completely pointless for me!!! The worst part is that I have these searches set up on the classic site but the preferences don't carry over to this ridiculous mobile site... eBay I am not impressed at all!! Do I have to download a different browser just to be able to specify that my device isn't an iphone?? I have no problem with you guys forcing us to a mobile site if you didn't cripple the functions that we use... eBay gets a huge FAIL on this one!!! I can't even use ebay on my phone now so this move is definitely counter productive... give us the choice eBay don't force us... we are the ones buying and selling and keeping eBay going so don't choose for us what platform we can or cannot use when utilizing your site!

  • I’m slightly irritated
There's a link at the bottom of the page "ebay.com" that allows you to go to the full site... ebay keeps changing things and it makes it hard to adjust but at least I can still get to my full saves searches! I wish the mobile app would allow full access to saved searches like the full site and in particular the "worldwide" search option...

  • Hello All,

We created a new Mobile Web version of eBay (streamlined, easier to use and fits on the screen of your chosen smartphone). We are doing a slow launch starting with iPhones in the US.

When someone launches the browser on their iPhone (in this scenario) and types in eBay.com they will be auto directed to mobileweb.ebay.com. They can still go back to the familiar eBay.com page, just scroll to the bottom right-hand corner and tap eBay.com. You will then be directed back to the regular site. You will need to do this every time you launch your browser to access eBay as the redirect will continue.

Mobile Web streamlines eBay for your phone for faster performance. We will continue to work on enhancing Mobile Web to meet more of your buying and selling needs. This is the first launch.

With Mobile Web you can -
    - View listings and monitor sales
    - Leave Feedback
    - Relist ended items
    - Create saved searches
    - Bid, Buy and Pay from your phone

    Thanks,

    Ginger
    eBay Mobile Team

    • GREAT IDEA....I am joking!!! You "streamlined " it so that you can not look up COMPLETED ITEMS. I need to know what something has sold for in order to make an educated dicision as to buy or not. I bought my iPhone specifically for this purpose. If you don't change the redirect I have no use for my iPhone. AT&T won't be happy....I won't be happy and the amount of items I list will go down. I am quite capable of deciding if I wish to use mobile web or not. Stop forcing me, Apple does enough of that for me with this phone!!!!

I tried the link at the bottom right like Ginger said and it did work to get me to the regular home page but as soon as I sign in or search the site switches to ebay mobile. I am loosing money and very frustrated, I need to be able to search completed auctions. I was happy the way it was. I am paying $130 a month for a phone for the express purpose of searching completed auctions.

    • We're looking into why you're not staying on eBay.com when you login. You should be able to use the classic site if you click on the ebay.com link from mobile web. Could you tell us which phone you're using so we can fix the problem?

Also you can search completed auctions on the mobile websites if you click on the refine option in search and select completed listings. You can also save the completed auction searches you've created on the mobile websites as well.

Hi, I just agree so much with all of you, frustrated users. I am buying stuff on eBay and am looking into becoming a seller.
This only makes sense for me if I can do it on the go, meaning: from my cellphone. What's the purpose of redirecting us to that Mobile app that doesn't work, is full of glitches? Is it to justify someone's stupid, no: outdated project of creating a Mobile app for eBay? Come on, get up to date, the modern (so-called: "intelligent"), phone doesn't need a mobile app, it's processor is as powerful as many computer's!
Please, please, make that Mobile app optional, for those who like it, or need its simplifications. I don't want to be victim to a programmer's need to justify his job. And tell him to do his homework and make the thing work properly: it is not stable at all.
By the way, I was able to access eBay.ca on the normal site today. The problem with that pesky Mobile application only began when I went to Ebay.com.
There is no way I am going to be able to conduct business with this :-( Mobile app. I just had a chat with one of your attendants on that matter. He made it sound as if it was a privilege to access eBay from my cellphone and that the counterpart was to have reduced access options. How incredibly ludicrous!
Wake up, eBay! WE are the people making you happen! Don't make it difficult for us, don't make us turn our back!

Clicking on the eBay.com sign at the bottom right of the Mobile app's page does bring me back to the normal eBay.com site... Only to shift me back to the Mobile version the moment I search for any item! This is going in circles! It doesn't work!

  • Also, there is no way to check calculated shipping rates on Mobile eBay via iPhone's Safari. I was wondering why I am getting so many questions about how much shipping is... even if the customer wants to check the rates, it is not possible for the customer. I just talked to my FedEx guy. He says he's been shipping A LOT of phones from AT&T. There is also tech news stating that smartphones have already exceeded sales of computers.

If you even want a remote chance of competing with Amazon, you better get your act together.

Obviously, it'll bring u to the mobile version... Contain frustration & locate the eBay.com in grey color font, located @ very bottom, right hand corner... Click on that & cross your fingers that it works just like it did with me a few minutes ago... Happy Holidays ;-)

  • My phone is a Sony Ericsson X10a, with an Android operating system. I did get back to the regular site by clicking on the eBay.com tab at the bottom right of the Mobile page, as you suggest doing, but the moment I tried to search for any item, the system repeatedly sent me back to the Mobile version. This is a kind of running around in circles. There seems to be no way to use the regular site from an Android phone.

And each time I have to sign in again. 8 out of 10 times. When I get to classic site and do a search or change anything I'm back on mobile site again! Very mad about this.

Hi Oliver and Ginger. In theory you are right and that is how it "SHOULD" work however this is not the case. It does redirect you to the mobile view. I noticed though that once I am in the main full site home page (yes while being signed on) if I let the drop down appear on the "my ebay" I can see my messages in the regular full site view...but that is all. I cannot view my summary or anything else without it kicking me back to mobile view. I am not sure as to why this "update" was done as many people are very unhappy about it. If I (and many others) wanted the mobile view, we would have uploaded the free application for our phones.
Recently EBay was campaigning about "customer satisfaction" and a letter from the president of your company was featured on the main page for quite some time. Resolving this issue or reverting the settings to how it was is one was that you can fulfill this promise.

  • Hi All, I had my partner call Griff's show yesterday and it appears from their chat and an email Griff shared with us is that the team responsible for resolving the problem is aware of what is going on. They have been able to recreate a droid that keeps gpoing to mobile. Of course I want classic just like everyone here and hope that customer support tech a few days ago was wrong that this is a low priority? Ginger and Oliver can you help clarify this for us? Any time frame, other information?

Yes, I actually emailed Griff to share what we know about the issue.

This is our teams highest priority right now and they are working hard to give everyone the opportunity to use the full classic site when they want.

While we work on rolling out the fix, everyone can use this link http://www.ebay.com?redirect=mobile to stay on the main site.

I had to completely uninstall the new ebay app completely on one phone before this would work, even after clearing history and cache. THIS LINK WORKED http://www.ebay.com?redirect=mobile . Looking forward...... Acess to classic ebay should be available to all that need this tool for selling and buying, at least I hope that is what happens... I check all messgaes on this board and will report my status in a few days. I hope all get a working solution soon

  • For iPhone users - we do have the new eBay iPhone 2.0 app that integrates buying and selling into one app. You can also research items either by typing in your search or barcode scanning. This includes ability to do Completed Listings. You may find research with the eBay iPhone app to be quicker than using the classic eBay.com site from your mobile phones.

You can also do Completed Item searches with the eBay on Android app.

  • Thank you. It's very important to be able to use Classic eBay. Recently eBay has made some presumptuous decisions. When you log in, there's usually an extra screen selling you something, you have to click to get past it and it takes up my time and you see it repeatedly, too. I would at least like to have to only see it once. You call support and are on hold for an hour or more and you don't get the help you need. I was transferred three times, and never got the help I wanted on the phone after an hour and a half of my time being destroyed. In regard to the application which Ginger referenced, I'd like to be able to set it up for two accounts. It notifies when Best Offers are made (very useful) and now I have two accounts that take Best Offers but the app only tells me about one account. I love the app and those notifications but I need to have it set up to watch both my accounts. Thanks for your help, Oliver and Ginger.

The PayPal Security Key is something you sign up for and typically receive a physical "key card". More info from PayPal on this -https://www.paypal.com/helpcenter/mai...

Sounds like this isn't your issue though.

Can you email me direct at gleishman@ebay.com

    Confirm -

Are you using an eBay app?
Or going to eBay.com on your smartphone's browser?
What type of phone do you have?
If you are using an eBay app, which app and version?
Which eBay site do you use? (eBay.com, eBay.co.uk, etc...)
Any special characters in your password?
    Alpha numeric password?

  • I’m Furious
So let me get this straight, eBay creates mobile app which is limited and fast. Then instead of puting mobile option in full browser they hijack it and force mobile site! I don't see the logic in this. If I want fast I open the app, if I want functionality I open the browser. How hard is this to make happen?
Who came up with this twisted idea of killing easy access to any of the options??? Two mobile access options is just small-minded or sneaky to see how much they can screw with peoples patience.
If eBay cared they would develop mobile app and leave the browser alone.
The action eBay is taking and staying with it regardles of the outcry of public only shows they are upto something.
    Another super annoyed eBayer.

Your link to the full site is obscure and it is obvious you are trying to trick the less savvy Internet users into trying out your LAME mobile site. When will companies realize people HATE BEING REDIRECTED. Give me the choice as to how I want to view the website. Make the link to the full site BOLD and would it be that difficult to make it look like the other links instead of graying out the text in an effort to TRICK PEOPLE? Try what amazon does and use the wording "RETURN TO FULL SITE". It's not that difficult and the duplicitous nature of your actions disgusts me. You are a actively trying to fool people into remaining on your lame mobile version. And BTW, 99% of mobile sites suck hardcore. Stop wasting development dollars! There is a reason I did most of my Xmas shopping on amazon this year instead of on eBay like in the past. So frustrating!!! If eBay has a user experience QA department (Good god, they NEED one if they don't) they aren't doing their job properly if they think the crappy grayed out tiny link (that they purposefully change the appearance of so that it doesn't look like any if the other links) is user intuitive. Does eBay even know the meaning of the word intuitive??? Utterly disgusted with eBay right now.

  • I more than agree with Pissy. I can't find the classic site on my iPhone. When I log in I'm automatically taken to the mobile site. I have no functionality in mobile eBay. I have two seller and buyer IDs and when I need to edit a listing or respond to an offer I can't do it in mobile. I can't see what I need to know in Mobile and can't do with ati need to do in Mobile. I loved my iPhone because it had full functionality as if I were on a computer everywhere. eBay mobile has KILLED MY IPHONE. I'm going to complain to Apple about this. I have complained to eBay till I'm blue in the face. I was told it was fixed and that I can go to Classic but when I log in to eBay on my iPhone I'm hijacked into eBay Mobile no matter what I do. I have a few more complaints about hijacking by eBay while I'm complaining. Now whenever I log in there's an extra screen with an advertisement which I am forced to click through to get to where I'm going on eBay. EVERY TIME I log INTO eBay I have an extra sales screen and it's not passive, either. I am forced to find the ring place to click to go on through it. This STEALS MY TIME. And a third complaint where eBay is stealing MY TIME, MY LIFE! I ask a question on a listing and I have to type a number, which again steals my time. EVERY TIME I ASK A QUESTION ON a LISTING I have to type in a number. This usurps my time. How many blasted times does eBay have to identify me? And how much of my time stealing has to happen before eBay loses members? Learn to respect us. We are YOUR life and if you keep stealing MY LIFE I won't come to eBay any more.

  • I have another complaint, while I'm complaining: Too much advertising email. I don't read it, but when I get eBay mail I'm alerted so it still takes some of my time and attention. So here are the complaints:
    1. The ads that intervene when I log on, requiring me to click through the page to get where I'm going.
    2. The demand that we type in numbers every time we email to a seller about a listing.
    3. The incessant advertising email.
    4. eBay Mobile hijacking me on my iPhone and preventing me from accessing eBay Classic.

  • eBay needs to leave the browser alone, why are they trying to make two of the same things? I tried to use the app but found it useless, so it got deleted only to find out that the browser was hijacked at the same time and is the same as the app!!!!
Why cant you leave the so called faster browsing with the app and leave browser alone???
I'd understand if you didn't have the app, but this way It seems like you are testing the patience to see how far you can push people!
Those who didn't like the app deleted it, get over it...
    So once again,
[eBay free! app = faster simple browsing / browser = full browsing]
    It is that simple...

  • Hello,

If you'd prefer to not use the eBay Mobile Website from the browser on your smartphone, you can bookmark this link and it may be easier for you to use the bookmark instead of choosing "eBay.com" at the bottom of the Mobile Website to opt back to the full site.

Type in the full URL and bookmark it for a quick launch -http://www.ebay.com/?redirect=mobile

Linda - your comment about ads, those are ads you are seeing when you visit eBay.com on a computer? You can set your preferences for eBay ads and communications in your account.

My eBay -> Account -> Site Preferences and Communication Preferences.

    Thanks,

    Ginger

  • eBay already has wap.eBay.com -- use that instead. It has a lot more functionality and is actually usable versus the crippled mobile.eBay.com . Who thought to make a mobile.ebay.com when wap.ebay.com is perfectly good and you could have just renamed it.

  • I’m tired of decisions being made for me
eBay mobile will by definition never be fully featured. Forced-mobile means I won't be using eBay on my iPhone, which is where I do more and more of my browsing.

  • I’m always amazed how ebay sets low standards and then consistently fails to achieve them.

  • I’m Very angry stopped buying on eBay.
Who ever this Ginger person is from eBay can kiss my u know what. Every answer is nothing but B.S. All we want is the ability to use the classic site and not be bothered with the stupid F&$$!? mobile worthless site we do not like. I personally REFUSE to use the mobile and lately have been doing a lit of my buying directly from wholesalers instead of eBay. B/c I am suck and tired of constantly being rerouted to a mobile site that does not work good and tons of people hate.
    Ginger get a f!'&@?! Life!

  • I’m dissatisfied
So annoying! I thought the smartphone's purpose is to provide mobile convenience. Lately I'm finding a lot of functions that only work using my laptop! Developers need to fix this eBay issue, especially with the number of mobile eBay users.
