eBay texting

You should be able to use ebay from your phone using text messages, if you don't have a phone with app compatibility. Example: if im bidding on a book and my highest bid is 5.00, when it goes past 5.00 I will get a text letting me know everytime the item recieves a new bid. I can increase my bid by texting bid 6.00 or something similar. When the item has ended it sends me message of whether I won, and how much the item went for either way. It may be difficult to pay this way, but at least you can keep track of your items and bids if you have an older phone or no internet access or data plan on it.

Hi Holly,

eBay once offered a similar feature that was not well received due to complaints about text message charges. I can't speak for all of eBay, but for eBay Mobile we cannot provide such a feature to phones that do not have an app platform. We are only able to send notifications to phones that have an eBay app installed via their app platform..

I would love a feature like this, too, especially when I've been outbid on an item! So, messaging & data rates always apply - people can opt out!!

Yeh, I would definately like and OUTBID or YOU WON txt message. The txt fee is insignifcant compared to the "outbid blues"!!
