Sussed out that its signing in that causes it to crash, its stable until until then, crashes within seconds of signing in, if i have auto sign in enabled (which is the default) it crashes every time i open it, turned that off and i can use it until i sign in.

Hi Paul Steel-

Sorry to hear that it is crashing after you login. That is really a problem. With your help we may be able to find the problem and help you and others.

Can you tell me on what site (US, UK, DE, etc) you are trying to use the app?

Do you have any saved searches on eBay?

Please let us know.

Thanks,
-Rolf, eBay for iPad product owner.

Thanks for your info Paul. This is helpful to understand what's going on.

How many (total) Buying/Watching/Selling items do you have?

I cleaned it up a bit, reduced saved searches to 20, watch list to 5, saved sellers is 16.

Will check tomorrow for a reply.

Thanks, Paul.

Did it work after you reduced your saved searches and sellers?

There should be no problem with that many (I have 40 or 50 searches), but if that did fix the problem, it'd be great to know.

Cannot find my "sold" items with the new eBay for iPad app update may 3, 2012. I hear the "ca-ching" sound when I make a sale but when I open the eBay app., it is no where to be found. This was a no brainer on the previous version.

Hi Kenr96-

There are two places that you can find your sold items:

1) if you haven't configured your home screen yet, the furthest stack on the top right should be your "selling". Tap that stack to reveal your sold and unsold items.

2) you can always access your sold items by activating the navigation by tapping the green gripper at the top left of the screen and selecting "Selling"

I hope this is what you were looking for. If not, let us know and we'll work with you to make it right.

Thanks,
-Rolf, eBay for iPad product owner

Rolf, i have it working :-)
I deleted all my lists (about 10 of them, not needed anyway), worked straight away after that.

Hope you can use this to resolve the issue.

Thanks, Paul.

Ah, LISTS! That is an interesting one I hadn't thought of.

I will pass that along to our engineers as a possible culprit. We're really glad you got it working.

BTW, are you on an iPad 1, perhaps? Also, cellular or wifi connection?

And, roughly, how many items do you think you had in those lists, on average?

Thanks again, every bit of info you give us, the closer we get to solving it for everybody.

If the App cannot handle lists etc, the development of the App is a real AMATEUR job!!! And obviously QUality Assuarance is a foreign concept.

Can you get professional developers to work on eBay products?

Hi Reef-

No need to be abusive, we're here to help.

The app doesn't currently support lists, though we are looking at that feature in the future. However, lists shouldn't cause crashes and we didn't see any problems like that in our testing.

We are currently actively researching what is causing this, and additional information helps us track down what may be common threads. I had thought it may be related to lists due to Paul's success, but it may not be.

It is interesting that Paul's app stopped crashing after he deleted his lists, and yours didn't. I'm sorry, by the way, that your app is crashing.

The crashing is likely related to something specific to your account, as it only affects some people. After the login, the app loads various information to populate the homescreen. It's likely that something in that data is causing the app to crash.

Can you think of anything in particular that may be unusual about your account? (Many saved searches, lists, watched items, heavy buying/selling?)

Your info may help us get further in understanding why the app is crashing for some people and not others.

Regards,
-Rolf

Hi Rolf, I didn't have anything in the lists, just had the lists setup from a previous thing I was doing, about 10 lists in total, so after my clean up I had 5 watched items, 2 purchased items, 20 saved searches and 16 saved sellers, it was after deleting the lists that it worked, but may be that was just luck.
BTW, I really don't like this new interface.

Hi Paul-

What about the new interface is your least favorite aspect?

Thanks,
-Rolf

Rolf, i don't like the general layout, while it is probably a more popular "modern" flashy style, i prefer plain simplicity and ease of use, but i will get used to it.

The main concern for me is searching, if i get a large search result, like 1000+ and i start going through them, i can't tell where i am in the list (that sidebar is missing), if i look at an item and then back out of it, it puts me back at the top of the search list :-( these things together are annoying.
