The echoecho inbox is very simple.

Android inbox

Echo messages have some very simple properties.

Name - i.e which friend of yours they belong to
Type - incoming, outgoing or paired
Age - how recent the location information is.

Remember that echoecho is not a form of a realtime tracking - but rather a permission based method of sharing location amongst friends.

There are three main buttons that correspond to the three primary pieces of functionality - Reply, Map, and Echo.

Reply - this functionality is only available for incoming echo messages (i.e. an echo that you have received from a friend but have not yet responded to). Clicking on the Reply button shares your location (at that moment) with the original sender of the echo.
Once you reply to an incoming echo it becomes paired

Map - this functionality is only available for paired echo messages (i.e. an echo where both sender and recipient have shared each others location). Clicking on the Map button flips into Map view - showing both your and your friends location on a map.

In Map view you can also see the distance to your friend (click on the distance information bar to toggle units between miles and kilometers.

Echo - this functionality is available for outgoing and paired echo messages. Clicking on the button RE-sends an echo messages to your friend. Essentially it asks your friend for their location again.
We like to use this button as a shortcut that saves us clicking New Echo and scrolling to our friends every time we want to know where they are.

On an Android phone you can also perfom basic inbox actions by using the context menu.

Reply, Map and Echo functions are available and functions as described above. Additional functions are deleting echoes (by clicking Delete), and sending new ones (by clicking New Echo).
When you click New Echo you can select a friend from your entire address book.
