Hi Support,

First time user for MailStore here, I've been using Thunderbird vers 45.3.0 with Mdir mode for my daily email client.

In Thunderbird I have manually created folder structure to backup emails from my online email accounts. The folder structure can be 3 to 4 level deep from the root Local Folder. Screenshot as attached.

I would like to get MailStore to backup these emails inside the Thunderbird Local Folders, however MailStore vers 9.8.2 fails to read the folder structure, as shown in the "Effective folder dialog"

I have tried to run it anyway, however no emails has been archived.

Please advise.

Hi Andre, Thunderbird's new new maildir format is not yet handled by MailStore, at this time MailStore only supports the older mbox style Thunderbird data structure. I'll bring this to the attention of the engineering team to investigate the feasibility of adding this functionality in the future. While this won't help for your Local Folders, note that for any account using IMAP, it's significantly more reliable to archive directly from the IMAP server rather than through a local mail client. This doesn't apply to Local Folders or POP3 based accounts.

Hi Dave, thank you for the prompt reply, unfortunately in my case, most of the emails already stored in those Local Folders, so not much emails left in the IMAP server. Hope the developer can consider adding the functionality soon.

Understood. If you want, you could create a new set of Local Folders which use the older mbox format, but, we are looking into supporting Thunderbird's new maildir folder storage type for a future release. Please be aware that I cannot make any specific commitments to when any particular feature will be added.
