Is it possible to remove duplicates, i.e. when I have "tidied up" Outlook and moved emails to different folders they are archived a second time by MailStore.

MailStore always checks every email during the archiving process. Identical messages and attachments are only stored once in the archive as it uses single-instance-technology.

Does this mean you archived from different sources like Outlook and the file system?

I have been using MailStore Home for a while now. I can safely say...MailStore DOES INDEED save duplicates. I have MANY...and I mean MANY ... duplicates. Anyway to clean this up. I have even done a clean install...accessed the archive...and new duplicates are still happening. So it is not even an old problem...it is still occurring.

If you archive an identical message from several sources, the message will be listed within the MailStore archive once for each source (so a duplicate might appear in your inbox, in another user's "sent" folder, etc)

However, at the storage system, MailStore includes a single-instance-storage-system which detects duplicates at the MIME part level, so this includes individual attachments, or entire messages. Each duplicated MIME part will only be stored once, so in the above example, there will be one set of headers for the message in your Inbox, another set of headers for the other source as headers vary from instance to instance of a message, but the message body will only be stored once.

As another example, if you receive a message with an attachment, forward the message to a colleague with new comments in the message body (but the same attachment), MailStore will recognize the attachment is duplicated even though the message is not, and will only store the attachment once.

I have Microsoft Live Mail and the server is ATT.net.  They made a change and suggested that we stop setting up POP3 to Yahoo and instead use inbound.att.net.  When we did that, all the emails on the server downloaded and created duplicates.  If I make an archive from Mail store, will it remove the duplicates?  If it does, how do I wipe out the total inbox and restore from Mail store?

MailStore cannot delete messages from Windows Live Mail. This option does not exist in the Live Mail profile because there's no Live Mail API available. For the same reason you cannot directly export archived messages back to Live Mail.  You would need to export the messages to the file system first and import them via drag 'n drop.
