I have all of my .dat files from a backup but seem to be missing the xml and fdb files. Is there any way to restore without these files??

Hello,

Unfortunately not, the FDB files are needed to decrypt and understand the content within the DAT files. Is there any chance you have an older version of your FDB files from a previous backup?

Hello

I have the same situation, but I have an older copy with all files (inlcuding FDB). How can I add .dat files to mailstore? Can I just copy newer dat files to the old copy?

Hello Michael,

with MailStore Home, you can only have one database attached. So if you are actually running and using a database and have an old one you want to import, you can only do so by:

  • start MailStore Home (MSH) from start menu with [MailSoter Home - Configuration].
  • Choose an existing database (the old one you want to import).
  • Start MSH and setup an export of all Archives to files (eml). Define a destination folder. Let the export finish.
  • Close MSH and start it again with Configuration.
  • Choose your recent database location where you want to continue working with.
  • When MSH is started, define a new import profile, choose to import files.
  • Select the folder you defined when backing up the older database
  • Allow all subfolders to be imported, too
  • When finished, you have all the old archived emails in your current database
  • If you wish, you can make a backup of your database and then delete the working folder you ex/imported.
Let me know if this worked out for you.
