Could it be possible to edit the track of a workout on the map?

The tracked route of my workout seems to be wrong, how can I edit it?

I'd also like to be able to edit the route.
Some time ago I used Endomondo going out for a walk, but according to the regitered route, in place to walk straight along the street I randomly got inside some buildings which resulted in a longer distance than the actual one.

Before to use Endomondo I used another app for this, it had the same GPS accuracy problem, but once the workout was uploaded on their website, it was possible to edit the route to adjust it and they also used Google Maps, so that's something possible to implement.

I really hope to see this feature soon on Endomondo as well and not having to do strange workarounds listed in this discussion... some of which can't be applied anymore.

Can I just add my vote for this as the main missing feature in Endomondo?

At least add the ablility to trim workouts on those occasions when you forget to stop the app at the end of the workout...

Implementer denne funktion, eller gør GPS mere præcis... Det er vanvittigt frusterende at være nød til at ekskludere en ellers god træning fra ens resultate, fordi gps'en registret at man har løbet 200 på under et minut...

I really want to continue to use this app. Really love it. Except for the lack of the ability to edit or trim tracks after a workout. Mapmyride and Strava both allow users to edit tracks. When will this feature be added? The workaround is a PITA!

Editing the map of a workout would be great also because sometimes it takes up to 10 minutes for the GPS to find a signal and I don't have time to wait for it (because the others will leave without me), so I have to start the workout with no GPS signal. Later I'd like to add to the map the section which is missing from the beginning of the workout because there was no GPS signal.

I have fixed a few workouts route by using the workaround suggested above, by saving the route, editing, and then assign it to the original workout.
The big problem with this approach is that you lose all time information along the route, and no longer have the changing pace along the route, just the final average over the whole route.
This is very frustrating, and almost negates the effort of fixing a route.

What we really need is a way to make pinpoint fixes to the recorded GPS route, without losing any timing data.
I understand that this may easily lead to people cheating their routes, but hey... you can fool everyone but yourself...

    Thanks,

  • I’m so happy I repaired my track
    1
I think we've all forgotten to turn off Endo at one time or another and ended up with a long car ride home as part of our track. I stumbled around with 3 or 4 other programs before finally finding this one. It's easy to split your track with this free program, and it works.

    http://www.routeconverter.com/home/en

It displays the map along with the corresponding data points. All you have to do is find the end of your workout, select "split", resave it under a different name, re-import it into Endo as a new workout, and delete the original wrong one.

  • I’m frustrated when my PRs are olympic but I am not
    1
I regularly run through streets of tall glass buildings which throws my GPS out considerably, typically it will have me running a zig zag route across very wide streets meaning I have to discard the timings of these runs or be left with unbeatable PRs.
Some ability to smooth paths between two points and have the system average out the data along this section would be great.
Also as others have stated the ability to trim starts and ends from runs would be excellent and I would have thought easy to implement. I'd like to discard both the warm up/down and unintentional car journeys from my workouts.
I'd be happy for edited workouts to be automatically discounted from challenges; I'm far more interested in tracking my progress over time.
I know some of this may seem a bit OTT but honestly you have an entire community of OTT users - we all track our routes by GPS for crissake!
I love your app and pay for premium usage but this constantly frustrates me - I'll try the third party app suggestions above but really i would have thought the trim at least would be easy to implement in Endomondo itself?

I am a new free user of Endomondo, but have allready dicided NOT to pay for Premium untill a few "problems" are solved. 1) The ability to edit your route. According to Endomondo, I didn't get to work today, but has been somwhere in a field for the last 3 hours. I do not bike on the field going to work... I understand that the GPS can have problems, and if we could edit the route, it would be ok by me.
    2) Endomondo is not at all accurate, and I always edit the time at distance to match my bike-computer - and this is ok by me... But very often, the original incorrect data is back on the work-out the next time I log on to Endomondo.. I am not ok with that..
Please make it possible to edit the route
    AND
    Keep the editing !!!

Endomondo, please, for heaven's sake, implement this! It happens so very frequently that after a workout you jump in the car and forget to stop the workout. And then it all goes to waste. At least make it possible to trim the end of the track. So many people crave for this. Now is not soon enough. Thanks!

NO shit, that work around is like a 15KM solution around the pot , please this should not be so hard to implement and I think every single complain in here is right, Most of the time I want to run 6 km and dont give a damn about the last 100 meters where I dry off my head, Please make it so that you can just delete the last lap, should not be that hard at all....otherwise for me its useless and will get another tool for running

Any updates on this? As someone suggested (hilarious BTW) sometimes it looks like you're "teleporting" as it's virtually impossible to be that "fast".

So I understand that changing the GPS detection could be somewhat tricky, but having the possibility to fine-tune the route as a workaround (like you do when you enter your own route manually, dragging points around) could be great, as not everybody may be interested in creating a new route just to edit the last workout, as we'd lose other data from the workout...

I ran my 1st 'official' 10K this weekend and was disappointed to find afterwards that my GPS lock disappeared about 5K in and only came back towards the end of the run. The timing was pretty accurate (though I didn't turn it straight off so would be nice to trim) but obviously the distance and route are wrecked. I'd love to be able to fix these issues using the map in-browser for future reference. Thanks, Adam

My phone died (out of battery) when i was running in one of my training plan's sessions. It only registered 17 min but i did the complete track that i was supposed to do.

So i think i would be an excelent idea be able to edit the workout and draw in the map all the track.

Just had this problem. Did a 10k but the GPS chopped off a corner towards the end, leaving me with an 8.5k and a personal best 1k (which is completely wrong). I'd delete the workout, as I don't want it messing up my PB stats, but I'm otherwise quite pleased with the workout and would like to keep it. I don't want to do the export-as-route option, because that'd lose all of the other information, like pace and heart rate, about the workout.

For over two years people ask this and you have not implemented an effective solution. Either you have no resources to allocate for this (witch I seriously doubt) or you don't give a sh** to your user's requests, witch I try to not think is the case.

Its this kind of attitude that makes me not purchase this kind of apps that you need to pay for full use in a period, why pay for something that is roughly incomplete or has not all the features other software - cheaper - has?

It is hard to imagine that an "edit track" feature is that hard to implement. I will probably just delete the run where I left endomondo running in my car. Tracking improvement with the "personal bests" is futile if a run is contaminated with bad data. While this is a "user error", a good program can compensate for such things.

I use Endomondo Pro to track, with heart rate, all my workouts. Road bike/mountain bike/walking/hiking/indoor cycling classes/weight training. Nice that there is a category for each, and I do edit the stats to eliminate distance and altitude changes on my indoor workouts as needed. However, it would be nice, as Runkeeper has, to be able to at least delete the map portion of stationary workouts. Maybe have it, so it does not track a map for certain workouts or be able to toggle mapping off/on as needed would be my suggestion. Kinda silly looking when I post the workouts and I attempt to tout the advantages of the Endomondo app.

The only thing I can find wrong with endomondo is the fact you can't edit the workout afterwards. Often time's I fail to end the workout (skiing and I'm covered in snow and want to get in my car... or biking and soaking wet and want to dry off at home before taking out my phone... the list goes on and on) and it screws up the data of the workout to be unusable. If anything, just allow the end of the workout to be trimmed back and re-calculated to the true end of workout. (thanks scott for the text)

I had a similar problem today, where GPS locked (on my Garmin watch) on to a location about a 1/4 mile away at start of run that threw everything off by about a tenth of a mile. I tried the RunKeeper fix described above (export .gpx file from Endomondo, import to RunKeeper, edit, export/import) and it worked fine. Some of the points are still a little off for the first half-mile (running a 3.38 min/mile at one point, woo-hoo!), but the major checkpoints and lap times are fine (and I could make it just right if I really wanted to). It would be nice if Endomondo had this feature, but I'm not losing any sleep over it (even though I must admit I was irritated until I found a solution).

If the import/export/import shuffle doesn't work for you, or seems like too much of a hassle, but you are bummed about having to delete the workout (so it doesn't screw up your PR's), here is the fix:

    Go to the workout
    Click on "Edit"
Uncheck the "Include in Statistics" box

Hope this helps someone, and thanks to everyone else for the good advice (especially Terje Gustavson).

Thank you very much for your patience and your cooperation into making Endomondo better every day.

Any news on the above please?, more people keep adding themselves to this request but the only 'solutions' still appear to involve 3rd party apps? If you don't intend to implement this after all please just be honest?

I'd also like this feature please. Tonight I lost GPS part way round and then it got GPS back and the route shows a straight line from the point it lost connection to regaining it, which is completely wrong. My distance is now incorrect. There is no way I would consider upgrading to Premium unless the Endomondo team start listening to users and implementing a feature which is wanted by many.
    Thanks
    John
    • Yes, John, you are right. Same for me. I thought about upgrading to Premium several times, but I always decided not to, because of the attitude towards the requests of the users. Absolutely huge amounts of time pass before they even consider giving an answer or explanation to our demands. Not so long ago a large part of the community was begging Endomondo to implement Bluetooth low energy for months and moths. It took ages for them to do it. And then there's this workout editing feature missing. We're all missing it, they don't care.

Endomondo is a very nice app, but it has a few serious flaws, like the missing of the workout editing feature. Overall it's the best workout app in my opinion, but let's face it, the Premium is not cheap. For that kind of money they should start listening to the users a lot more.

This is such a common problem. I'm losing at least 2 workouts per week because I forget to stop Endomondo when I get in the car. So, because I can't cut off the end of the workout, I have to delete the whole thing.

Almost a year has passed since I suggested to Endomondo to allow at least cutting off all workout data after a given time of the workout. For example, I run for 60 minutes, then I get in the car, forget to stop the workout and drive for 20 minutes. What I want is at least to be able to tell Endomondo to delete all the workout data after 60:00 and that way I could fix it.

Why hasn't been anything done about this for such a long time?! This is a very common problem for many of the users of Endomondo. And it's not that hard to implement. Please do this soon. We REALLY do need it.

I wish people would stop having a go at Endomondo staff on this topic. Don't they realise how hard these people work. OK - so it is three years since they have replied to this topic. But they have to get in to work, make a coffee, have a chat with each other, and browse facebook. By then it is nearly lunch. Doesn't time fly.

After their lunch break they then have to have a rest (meals make you sleepy you know), and everyone is less productive in the afternoon. And soon it's home time.

So stop having a go and give them a break. It's not like many people want to be able to edit workouts, and it isn't like other apps allow you to do it. :-)
