  • Hello Oskar. Unfortunately none of the 32xx series controllers are currently SIL approved. We have no discrete controller Products that are SIL approved however if required we can supply MTBF and MTTR data which is sometimes sufficient for Customer needs.

  • Hi Oskar, I'm the product manager for the controller and indicator range.

SIL ratings strictly speaking apply to an entire system rather than individual components, and it is possible to create a SIL 2 rated system using 3000 series alarm units as components - we can provide MTBF data which can help with system design on a "proven in use" basis.

However in the normally accepted use of the term, 3000 series is not SIL 2 approved as a temperature or process measure trip unit and there are no plans at this point to change that. There are various design points around the way the alarm relays are operated and the form they take which would be difficult to resolve for SIL 2 without a large scale rework of the product.

This is an area which is under current review - in fact high on my list - but as yet no Eurotherm solution I'm afraid.
