Cannot add Eycon-10 to iTools OPC

I want to monitor some variables using the iTools OPC Server. I have a PAC2500 which i have connected without problems. But i can't add an Eycon-10 to the TCP Port List, the message it gives me is "connection time out attempting to connect".

I can do a ping to this device without problems. Is some other thing i should check?
I have my PC, the PAC2500 and the Eycon connected to a Ethernet switch using straight RJ-45 cables, could this be the problem? In which case should i use crossover cables?

Thank you.

  • The Eycon uses the LINOPC server and uses LINTools for configuration. You will not be able to use iTools with the Eycon. Please can you explain your requirement. so that I can help you further. If you want to monitor data from the Eycon with , for example, OPC Scope then you need to reference the LINOPC server and enter the correct item data.

  • I want to use the Archestra FS Gateway to read/write variables from the PAC2500 and Eycon-10 via OPC.

I have already added the PAC2500 to the OPC Server, and monitor successfully its variables, but i can't add the Eycon-10.

Is there a tutorial where i could learn to do this?
Do i need to purchase a license for the OPC Server?

  • I have checked the info available. Correct me if im wrong:

I can communicate withthe PAC2500 via Modbus using the iTools OPC component. And the Eycon-10 uses a LIN protocol, so i wouldn't be able to connect it.

Apparently i need an address space file in the iTools OPC Server for the Eycon, but i don't know the procedure to do this.

Could you help me with this?

    Thank you.

  • I presume you have referenced the Eurotherm Modbus OPC server somehow in the Archestra FS Gateway. You can use the same method to reference the LINOPC server and therefore communicate to the Eycon. The default licence you have will allow 20 LIN Blocks to be read via OPC. If you need more blocks then you can purchase a licence.
The Eycon is not configured via iTools, it is configured via LINTools. The Eycon does support OPC, via the LINOPC.exe server. Send me a screen shot to penny.parker@schneider-electric.com of your Archestra FS gateway configuration file and I will show you what to add for the Eycon.

Thanks a lot for your reply, Penny. I've already solved this.

My original problem was that i haven't made a project, My client had sended me the Eycon-10 files without one.

Once i made it, i could deploy the tag database into the LinOPC. I was doing everything like you told me, but without a project (and no database) is immposible to use the LinOPC server.

I think i will need a license anyway, because i have 3 eycons and i think it will be more than 400 tags in total. Thanks a lot for your help.
