Eurotherm 2704 Output Modules?
Recently I bought a Eurotherm 2704. In Module IO, there are only three options: Module 1A (Hi Res Out, when its channel type reads Volts, channel status reads CH1 Short CCT), Module 1C (24V PSU, status is Ch1 Short CCT) and Module 3A for PV input which works fine. The problem is I can read the input, but I can't give an output because it seems to me that the only module I can use for output is Module 1A and when I try to use 0-10 V DC option from that module it says Ch1 Short CCT. How can I get through this? I need a DC Control module, do I have to buy that as well? Or am I doing something wrong with Hi Res Output?

Hello Ozer,
The Hi Res Output cannot be used for DC control you will required the DC Control module D4.
Order code: -SUB27\D4. -

Hello Bob, thank you for your quick answer. I will just ask one more question: What output does the Hi Res Output channel gives? 0-10 V, 4-20 mA? Or is it just a constant source that doesn't change with neither proportional or on-off control?

Hello Ozer,
The Hi Res output can give you a High Resolution 15 bit 4 -20mA Retransmission signal (to follow the PV or SP)and and the second provides a fixed 24Vdc supply (20 -30Vdc) transmitter supply. -

Thanks a lot, I was doubtful about getting a second Eurotherm 2704 but the customer service is really nice, I think I will get a second one from this firm. Thank you again for your time.
I already ordered the DC control part but while waiting for it to arrive, I'm designing a temperature controller, can I use the 4-20 mA signal from Hi Res Output to heat something? I mean can I change it into voltage with a certain setup that I will build? Or since it's a signal, is it impossible?
Sorry for this question, but I don't really know what is the difference between a signal and a normal current. Thank you that was the last question :). -

Hello Ozer,
Unfortunately you cannot use it for heating in this way.
If you require a DC output it will be the D4 module.
The Hi Res is mainly used to connect to another device and use the signal (which is 4 - 20mA) to monitor the temperature, say in a Chart recorder or perhaps provide a setpoint signal to another controller which can then follow the 2704 setpoint.
The other output is a 24Vdc supply, can be used to power up a tranducer.
Hope this helps you. -

Hi, I got a quotation for SUB27/D4, but in the explanation it says "Eurotherm Analogue output board for 2704 controller/programmer". Is this the DC Control module that gives 0-10 V, and 4-20 mA output for sure?
-
-
Hello Ozer,
Yes this is the correct module and you will be able to select 0- 10V or 4-20mA. -

Hello Bob, today I got the SUB27/D4 module, when I put it into the Eurotherm 2704, it says in module ident tri-logic input. Is it the correct module for sure?
-
-
Hello Ozer,
I am sorry but it appears you have been sent the incorrect module.
It should say "DC O/P ISOL".
Please can you contact our Sales dept to send you the correct type tel:- 01903 695888.
Many thanks and apologies for the inconvenienced caused. -

Hello Bob,
I opened inside of the Eurotherm 2704 again and checked the readings on the module, it is indeed written "DC O/P ISOL" on it. So I put the module in the 6th slot but when I open the Eurotherm, go to the "Module Ident" from the keypad, it says "Tri Logic Input" for some reason. Do you know what should I do to make it actually work? Should I do something specific from the keypad? -

Hello Ozer,
It appears you have been given the wrong hardware and the module case is printed incorrectly.
I suggest contacting Sales to change this for the correct part.
Details in previous comment.
Also, if possible, I would like to be able to see the module, can you take pictures of different angles and send to support@eurotherm.co.uk.
If so I can identify what this is.
The other check you may be able to see is on the top side of the module at the gold leaf contact end there is a number this should be 025728.
If it is this number you certainly have the correct hardware and something else may be wrong. -

Thankyou for the pictures Ozer.
It appears thank you have been sent the correct module and the 2704 may be faulty.
I would suggest removing module 1 and fit inserting the D4 module to see if slot one will indicate the correct type. -

I've tried that as well, but it still says "Tri Logic Input". At this point, I don't know what to do with this, it has been more than 4 months, it still doesn't work.

Is it possible to send me your 2704 including the new module for me to check for you?
