LINtools execution and build issues

When I execute LINtools (FoxboroPAC 6.2), I get the following dialog box appearring:
Can't change directory to Default\TACTv72
Inital install of FoxboroPAC was to a D: drive with Project on C:. This all worked and I did not get this message and builds were successful. I had to change the InTouch FactorySuite Network account from a local accoun to a Domain account. After doing that couldn't run ESuite anymore. Ran a Repair on FoxboroPAC and that allowed me to run ESuite. That was a few weeks ago. Now, trying to make a strategy change I get the above message. If click OK, does allow me to proceed, and LINtools opens, after making strategy changes and selecting Build, get following in Build dialog
messages:
Folder "c:\europs\ems\networks\elin1\dl02_t20" appears to be read-only.
...
Error: Unable to update aaLINOPCClient_DL02_T20.csv - couldn't find defaultrecordedfields.ini.

Can you advise how to correct?

    I have not personally seen this error before, but then I have never run a Repair before either! It was an interesting idea to use Repair to fix a security issue, and perhaps when you ran the Repair that did not cope with the install path properly, but that is to worry about later.

    Looking at the last error (not usually a good idea) I can say that the DefaultRecordedFields.ini is a LINtools setup file that defines which fb fields of an fb type are added by default to a recording group for a fb when first adding it to a group.

    I am not sure what OS you have, but on my Win7 64-bit you should find DefaultRecordedFields.ini in the folder: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Invensys\FoxboroPAC\Lintools\libs".

    Can you find DefaultRecordedFields.ini on your system? If so, does it open in notepad ok and where is it? In that way we can see if it is the file itself or locating the file that is the problem.

    How many LIN Instruments are there in your project? Do they all have the problem?
    Also, can you make a very simple test project and add a LIN instrument. Does that have the same problem?

    It may be useful to look at some environment variables: TPATH, CPATH and HPATH. There are several ways of doing that, exact route can depend upon OS, the one below is normally ok for all.

  • Thanks Ian. Same customer you helped me with and cross subnetting on Win 2008 server.
    DefaultrecordedFields.ini is in D: with same rest of path as you state.

    I can open with notepad and looks ok.

    10 t2550/10 eycon10 - all exhibit same problem when openning LT except the library/template name changes from Tactv72 to Eycxxx

    Starts to create a new test project, but errors out at build windows with
    ERROR - Failed to attach to db

    set results below

    CPATH=D:\Program Files (x86)\Invensys\FoxboroPAC\LINtools

    LTDIR=C:\Program Files (x86)\Invensys\FoxboroPAC\LINtools

    Path=D:\Program Files (x86)\WANdisco\Subversion;D:\Program Files (x86)\Invensys\
    FoxboroPAC\ESCheck\;C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Invensys Shared\FoxboroP
    AC;C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\ArchestrA\;C:\Windows\system32;C:\Windows
    ;C:\Windows\System32\Wbem;C:\Windows\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\;D:\Program
    Files (x86)\IBM\ITM\bin;D:\Program Files (x86)\IBM\ITM\InstallITM;D:\Program Fi
    les (x86)\IBM\ITM\TMAITM6;D:\Program Files (x86)\Wonderware\InTouch\;C:\Program
    Files\Common Files\Invensys Shared\FoxboroPAC;C:\PROGRA~2\COMMON~1\INVENS~1\FOXB
    OR~1;C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Eurotherm Shared;D:\Program Files\Torto
    iseSVN\bin

    TPATH=D:\Program Files (x86)\Invensys\FoxboroPAC\LINtools\libs
    ULauncherPath=D:\Program Files (x86)\Invensys\FoxboroPAC\PSW

    obviously, LTDIR path above is not correct as apps are installed on D:, but if I change LTDIR to be correct path, when I attempt to open a dbf file, I get a blank dialog box asking for the target but can't do anything except click cancel. If click cancel, LT exits with an error message about an empty document.

    been working with Paul Wharton on this as well - just don't wont duplicity of work.
