Problem on Foxboro Pac 6.1 installation

Hi team! One of our customer has a problem with Foxboro PAC 6.1.
He installed a new PC with Windows 7 italian language and then foxboro pac 6.1;
When he create a new instrument and a new database in the network, he cannot see any tag in the project organizer even after an entire build process; all the modifications he make on the dbf are not visible in the project organizer. We tested it here in office with an XP PC and we can see the problem also with that operating system.
What is going on on this Foxboro Pac installation?
Can someone help me?
Thank you

  • Firstly PAC6.0 with workarounds and PAC 6.1 are the same. However – a installer bug means that if you install 6.1 over 6.0
it will remove some of the registry keys preventing a successful build. To fix it create a string key at the following location:-

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\LIN.Database\USHELL\BUILD\COMMAND]

The key required depends on the operating system 32/64 bit.

    32bit
    ------
    C:\Progra~1\Invensys\Foxbor~1\PSW\Builddbf.exe "%1"

    64bit
    -----
    C:\Progra~2\Invensys\Foxbor~1\PSW\Builddbf.exe "%1"

    OR

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Invensys\FoxboroPAC\PSW\Builddbf.exe "%1"

  • Thank you Paul,
in that windows 7 SP1 PC I cannot find the key HKEY_CLSSES_ROOT\LIN.Database\USHELL\BUILD\COMMAND.
I cannot evn find the USHELL key.
Do I have to create the path and then insert the line you are suggesting?

    Hi Gino,
You should be able to find HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\LIN.Database

The rest you need to add.

    USHELL is a Key.
BUILD is a Key (make this under USHELL key)
Command is a Key (make this under BUILD key).
Then double click the default entry (right hand pane of the registry editor)
Then copy and paste in the relevant value for your Operating System variant (you can check this by looking for the location of the builddbf.exe)

I wanted to attach the 64bit registry fix for this, but I can't so if you copy and paste the following into notepad then save it as fix.reg you can easily apply this change:

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\LIN.Database\USHELL\BUILD\Command]
    @="C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Invensys\\FoxboroPAC\\PSW\\Builddbf.exe \"%1\" "

    Manual Registry Entry:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Invensys\FoxboroPAC\PSW\Builddbf.exe "%1"

For those following this thread the 32bit registry fix would look like this:

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\LIN.Database\USHELL\BUILD\Command]
    @="C:\\Program Files\\Invensys\\FoxboroPAC\\PSW\\Builddbf.exe \"%1\" "

    Manual Registry Entry:
    C:\Program Files\Invensys\FoxboroPAC\PSW\Builddbf.exe "%1"
