One of the less demanding ideas that a lot of people seem to suggest and agree with, is an option to ignore attacks on Age I.
This option already exists on Age II, and is very effective there.
I doubt it would take an incredible amount of time/effort to implement such a thing?

Problem: People using alt accounts to send an attack of 1 or a couple slow moving mechs to make your bird flash for days in a row. These attacks go against what evony planned (I hope) and arent with the spirit of the game the the players envision.
Solution: Put a mask or ignore button on the view page which would inturn disable the birdie flashing from that particular attack.
Why it makes sense: Besides making a community of players happy (you would get a huge amount of positive feedback by adding this feature) it goes in line with the theme. If a commander in a city knows an attack wont have any effect on his city he would push it to the side so he could concentrate on the more important incoming attacks.
How the code would work: Put in a on/off relay prior to the attacking message that is sent to the bird. Tie this to a button inside the view page on the enemy attacks screen.
I hope to get a positive response from this or at least a reason why this wont be implemented.

Long range attacks only meant to keep your bird flashing. -
Still a huge problem on age 1 is the people that make several new accounts and get their town hall to 5 and leave them sitting there as basically dead accounts until one person or an alliance hits their main account or their alliance and angers them.
Then ofcourse each one of their little accounts sends long marches of 1 worker or 1 transport as an attack to the person or alliance that made them angry.
This is completely ridiculous as far as war goes, if your out fighting a lot of people you never know who this little account belongs to, and several other people get mad at the long march and do the same thing, but they do it to EVERYBODY because they do not know who started this.
I heard there is something on Age2 where you can ignore certain attacks, so if there is a long march you can just click on it and click ignore, so your bird doesnt flash for 40 hours.
This is something much needed on age 1 as many people are childish and will do this over and over until the end of eternity.

Yes yes yes. Many times I have been stuck with the blinky bird for no reason (and no follow up attack). "Spam waves" would be good to sort out as well to see when the real attack is landing.
-

I totally agree. I have quit age 1 a while back but understand how annoying it can be to see the flashing bird all the time. It is such a hassle to use a post it note to cover up the bird when playing evony since you need to take it off when doing other things on your computer.

Awesome idea - Their are some who like to send non threatening attks that are sent simply to light your bird -and as most know seeing that red flashing for long becomes annoying - an ignore attk option would neutralize this

I see the mods merged the topic but not the replies. Is there anyway to have the replies from the topic i started merged over here as well?

Please, please, for the love of all that is good and Evony-y, get this implemented, and implemented SOON.
Wait, did that come off rather desperate? >_> -

i was getting hit but waves of one scout that toke 15-20 sec to hit me than they sent one real wave so i couldn't see it i think that there should be a ignore all attacks from one player.

simple enough look at the time to travel and only look at the attacks that are taking longer than scouts then.

I don't know if I like this being implemented. That's kinda the strategy behind sending spam waves is to hide the legit waves. It's just another important strategy of the game that would be taken away.
-
Good point. I did not think about that. Ok, scrap the ignore attack option idea.
-
-
Good point, but essentially lazy, and not to be objectionable... wrong.
All it means is that people would need to come up with different ways to hide their attacks... I currently know of much better ways, that are completely legit without making yourself into a complete shower-nozzle with a BS attack that was originally designed as a marker to stop people teleporting.
The Ignore Attack option is a very good way to negate an action that Evony reps have consistently said was never part of the game idea/design. -
-
-
-
-
If you are within a close range to attack from however the spam still works bc of the time it takes for them to go through it and the short time for attacks to hit.
The ignore option would only eliminate spam from farther off...... and cheating It wouldn't mess up your attack strategy Jade if you are doing it properly. -
-
i spam alot, whenever i go to war if someone needs spam i send from all my cities (usually a few hours out) then i use the city next to them to send 1 scout attacks non stop. doing this keeps the bird flashing and moves the incoming reports around so that the cant see they are getting hit for real by myself or someone else. so the ignore attack would only work on the long ones but if implemented right, they would still be in the enemy tab just not make your bird flash, and the one scout attacks would keep the bird flashing and reports moving around. making it really hard to find any real attack.
-
-
Whilst I appreciate the different viewpoints here to some extents it would be nice if people read through the whole idea instead of just how it will affect them. If you want a real understanding of what this will negate send me your coords and what server you play on. I can build an acct in less than a day that will be able to just make your birdie flash rendering it useless. As for the other stuff you are correct it will limit 3 hour attacks spam value agreed. But the purpose of that spam isnt to hide attacks (at least it wont work to a seasoned player). If you want to hide an attack by reshuffle just send and recall attacks over and over. What this is supposed to negate is the birdie just being useless by some small alt account sending 1 trans at your from 3 days away. If a real player played that way then they could actually be dealt with properly. Again though try and read the whole idea not just omg this is gonna hurt my playstyle because honestly there are better ways to do what you have explained.
-
Yes I agree the 8 1/2 hour bs attack is just that...bull. I've been the "victim" of it for two days now. Those would be nice to ignore. So if I am understanding you correctly then you would ignore the spam attacks but just in the sense that birdie is flashing but then it flashes for a newly added attack which you either ignore again or if it's a real hit leave the bird flashing but then you still have to filter through all the hits to find out what time the legit attack will hit? Yeah I do like that idea.

Why does SEEFA (Small Evony Enthusiast Forum Army) call it the "Bird"? It is the Report page, not the bird page. I've always been lost on that.
Now, as Jade already commented in a previous comment, sending waves to keep the defender distracted is part of strategy. But adding a ignore attack option players can negate that tactic. I say it is far as it is today. Yes, I have changed my position on this matter. Woe is me, woe is me...- view 1 more comment

i hope something along these lines gets implemented soon. Some people are so ridiculous it is outrageous. Flashing an entire alliance with 1 city newby accounts for months on end... non stop.

As for wishing for the system that exist on Age 2, it should be known that the Age 2 system has some flaws. For starters, if the number of incoming attacks exceeds 1 page (I believe over 11 attacks) the birdie keeps flashing regardless of whether you have checked 'ignore' on all of them. In addition, when this is occurring (12+ attacks, constant flashing birdie), your Reports button does not show recent reports (no green flag with number indicating recent event). You will have no idea you have been scouted, or attacked or your attacks have landed without opening the Reports Tab and constantly checking.
Besides these glitches/problems, I think there should be a separate choice to 'ignore permanently' as refershing currently unchecks all of your ignored attacks (and I need frequent refreshing due to lag). -
-
This is truly an idea that should be put in. Regarding the spam wave tactic... The vast majority of the time, there is no hidden wave behind the spam. It has turned into a way that people are usig to just plain annoy others.
-

In concert with this, reinstate unlimited camp times, to the limit of food needed to do so. If an alliance wants to actually use a ridiculously long attack as a starting point to sync up attacks on a target, let them. I suspect the 24 hour time limit in Age I was because some were just using it to annoy. If you can shut off the little red bird on a specific attack, it doesn't matter anymore, and if we want to use a 200 hour time for whatever the reason, that should be allowed. That said, if you NEED 200 hours to gather an attack, you probably don't know what you're doing anyway, but like many things in this game, we shouldn't be prohibited from making mistakes...and, hopefully, learning from them.

Well I hope this gets put into practice soon, and also hope it doesnt come bugged like the age 2 version does. This is something very small that would make a massive amount of players happy... there is 0 downside to this
-
-
I know this is about age 1, but age 2 can be annoying since it randomly un-ignore attacks
-
-
There is alot of small things in Age 2 that they haven't put into Age 1 such as the un-ignore attacks and my suggestion (if the guy who posted a comment is right) http://feedback.evony.com/evony/topic...

A player , who has multiple accounts, uses one account to constantly send an attack of 1 transport only which takes more than 24 hours to march to my city. the effect is my bird flashes red constantly, not allowing me to be able to know if there is a serious threat or not. he has kept this up for several months and is just really annoying. what can I do about this?

Player constantly sending only 1 transport becoming very annoying.... -

At first I was in favor of ignoring incoming attacks. After thinking about it more, I am opposed.
Here is why: It is just another tool defenders will use to make their life easier. It will make capturing cities from rivals (specifically Historical Cities) even MORE difficult. By adding an ignore attack option Evony would be taking away the ability for players to send "fake" attacks.
Keeping an enemy on their toes by sending fake attacks is one of the oldest war tactics known. If the enemy had the ability to only be alerted of attacks that were serious threats (while making the fake attacks "disappear") then that would take huge advantage away from attackers. Like most suggestions, this is just another suggestion that gives more power to defenders.-
Fine, get rid of the alts that are doing it. the few day attacks that have 1 scout....
O wait, it doesnt look like they can.......
its just easyer to add an ignore button....
But on the idea of not adding a ignore incoming attacks how about this:
Allow the ignore button to ignore LONG attacks at a a certain range, Just say i am sending a 25hour attack at u, u can ignore up to 2 hours from hitting ur city. Any thing further out then 2 hours u can ignore, but once it reaches 2hours incoming ur bird starts to flash and from that point on u cant ignore? -
-
-
-
-
@ Sham: Excellent idea.
I think the ability to ignore attacks that are "x" hours out and not be able to ignore attacks that are soon to land is totally fair and reasonable. -
-
the way to go about this... and i suggested this in another similar thread..
is not to ignore separate attacks.. this takes away a valuable attack tactic.. say a huge player ports into your patch and he starts attacking smaller player and theres not a lot you can do.. hes going to start cleaning out your cities.. you start sending 10scout 10cav spam to annoy him.. he gets sick of it.. moves on.. crisis averted.. if he could just click off the spam your sending..then he can just carry on about his business.. same goes for if youre trying to take some one out, these small spam waves can mask bigger attacks.. out foxing your opponent
i think the real issue here is players that make noob accs with low prestige and no army, just to send long range 80 hour 1worker attacks just to make your birdy flash for months on end.. never sending any real attacks
this could easily be fixed with a 'player ignore' button.. like the block feature.. but you could have a separate option to also ignore any attacks he sends.. knowing he isnt going to send anything of substance from 500miles away. and incase he opens a snr batt and does.. you could have a seperate window for 'ignored attacks' that shows the ignored attacks incoming.. you could then choose to un ignore a certain attack if you wanted..- view 7 more comments

That's the thing, I can't fix his problem and I can't make a difference. I'm just a simple player like EVERYONE ELSE.
Does he care? No, he wants to make as many people unhappy as possible. -

I do support your idea. The fact is, that ain't gonna do diddly squat in the long run. I could be the president of the world and my opinion wouldn't matter anymore than yours.

The Essence of Evony is a spirit of sportsmanship and fair play in waging battles, forging alliances and conducting the affairs of your cities. Any unfair, unreasonable or immoral tactics or behaviors are strictly forbidden. Game play is what Evony is all about, and the Evony Team strictly enforces the rules that govern game play, to keep Evony enjoyable for everyone. The Evony Team considers most conduct to be part of the Game. Evony is a "player vs. player" game, and players should always remember to defend themselves in areas where the members of hostile alliances can attack. That said, if you feel an opponent is using a strategy or tactic that breaks the game rules, we suggest you contact the Evony Team's in-game customer service representatives to report the abuse. We hope our players can be build a civilized and friendly spirit of competition in the Evony world!
i feel whats being done to me isnt about attack tactics at all.. and id say it goes against everything this statement projects..
im sure others would agree?
evony should be doing the right thing and deleting that noob acc i made on your server, Jason.. it would be the proper thing to do.. altho.. i am not breaking the multi account rule.. it IS harassment..
have you filed a help spot ticket? -

Ignore should not carry over to the next login as that could be fatal - put up with the blinky bird :P

Just to bump this it really needs addressing a 69 hours attack with1 ballista and I transporter from an alt account 300 miles away is ridiculous! Its done to harass and plague a player, it has no game value.
And yes I am at the wrong end of this a lot !! -
-
I've had to make my own solution, wrote a little program that keeps a sizeable moveable box always on top of the window.... thus hiding the flashing bird... not ideal but its stops the blinking... the reports button is still clickable... but the bird is gone!!!
Took me 90 seconds to write so come on Evony devs...!!!!
PS if anyone wants the code its written in VB 6 and I can paste it here if needs be!- view 1 more comment

nope doesn't interfere with evony client :) its an electronic post it note :)
and I would suggest more legitimate that running a 69 hour one worker attack from an Alt Account :) -

Hello Dave. I am interested in getting this. Did you have any problems with it since you started using it? Paste the info here where I can get it

it works for age 2, but there are flaws. when a new attack is generated or a previous on the way attack lands then all the attacks that were previously ignored have to be re-clicked to be ignored again. instead of getting one attack, you get several attacks making the red light flash.
-
-
I think we should be able to set attacks to ignore like you can set attack setting for farming..example you could set your reports to only tell you when an attack larger then say 5k troops is heading at your city, which would really help a defender out and let him/her sort through hundreds of incoming waves and identify only the real attacks.
-
-
The Ignore Attack option on Age II needs some work too, admidtly its a great option when you are being spammed for days at a time- but commonly you go through the menu and select every incoming attack for 5 minutes later something queues, like a returning farm wave- or a scout on you, that triggers you to start flashing again- then you have to go back again and again select all 4 pages of incoming over the next 2-25 hours and ignore them again.
waste of time like this i just left it flash -
