05 - auth declined 12001

Please help me, I am a new customer to ELF and really wanted to try out the products. So I got everything in my cart and proceeded to the check out, but then it says "Please correct the following errors: Sorry, we were unable to process your transaction. The reason given was: "05 - AUTH DECLINED 12001 "Please check your information email us at elf@eyeslipsface.com"! What am I supposed to do, all of my information is correct? Does elf accept Chase Gift Cards that are VISA? Because I have this one and I really want to use it for the elf makeup, because I don't have a credit card. :(

We apologize for any confusion or inconvenience . . . our system does not accept these gift cards, unfortunately. We do accept regular VISA, MasterCard, AMEX, Google, PayPal, and money orders.

Are you sure? Because I went back and checked everything and realized my expiration date was incorrect, I fixed it and it said that my order was being processed. The gift card is VISA so I don't know if that makes a difference?

Yeah, I'm using a Chase Visa gift card which is listed as a debit card too and I'm getting the same error message. All my info is correct, including the expiration date. E.l.f claims that it accepted Visa, Chase, and Debit cards so I'm slightly confused.

I'm having the same problem, except I'm using a Bank of America debit card, which can also run as credit, so I don't understand why it isn't going through.

We are sorry to hear that you are having difficulties placing an e.l.f. cosmetics order. The following may assist you so that your order can be processed. Please make sure that there are no spaces or dashes before or between the digits in your credit card number. There may also be an issue with the auto-fill feature, so please try to fill out the credit card manually, rather than use the auto-fill feature. We do not currently accept pre-paid credit card gift cards. Re-check that your expiration date is correct. Also, please check that you are registered on our site.
