Add link to Discovery page from homepage

Please provide a link from the FamilySearch home page to the discovery experiences page. (www.familysearch.org/discovery). Right now, this discovery page is hidden except to those who happen to know it is there. Very few people know about it.

  • Yes, but maybe better to wait til they finish more of the "Coming Soon" buttons.

    Only one out of the 4 buttons are actually implemented. And I wish there was a more concise way to print that, (in a "List" mode) like replacing all the "View Relationship" links with actual relationship titles. As is, it takes 13 pages to print out my 12 months of events.

  • Looking at that "Discovery" page, I believe it is not linked anywhere entirely on purpose. The page is not ready yet.

    I agree with 'Jon' and 'Juli', that "Discovery" Activities functionality is, not finished, not quite ready, just yet.

    =====

    Jon

    I see Six (x6) 'Buttons', not just Four (x4)1?

    I just selected all the 'Buttons" being,

    (1) Compare-a-Face;
    (2) Missionaries;
    (3) Occupations;
    (4) Ancestor's Headstones;
    (5) Family Obituaries;
    (6) Ancestor Challenge.

    Five (x5) went to activities and worked.

    The only activity that did not go anywhere or work was (5) 'Family Obituaries'.

    Curious, why we see different features!?

    I personally wish you would add the "Church" Pioneers (ie. Early Utah Mormon Pioneers) to the "Discovery" page/screen.

    I am certain that there are many more that could be added.

    'Thank You' in advance.

    ( ps: 'Yes', I am a Member of the Church; but, I am not from North America )

  • I cleared out all my Chrome on Windows 10:
    1) All browsing history, 2) All download history, 3) All Cookies & other site data, 4) All Cached images & files.

    I also tried the link on Firefox on Windows 10. Still get:

    So what OS and browser are you using?

  • Jon & Juli

    Sorry for my delayed response, I was 'out and about'.

    My "Image", above, was using the "Latest" version of 'Google' "Chrome" with "Windows 10".

    I think that I had not accessed the "Discovery" page/screen since previously clearing my "Cache" etc.

    I tried the same thing using the "Latest" version of 'Modzilla' "FireFox" with "Windows 10"; but, "Cleared" my "Cache" etc, before trying to access the "Discovery" page/screen; and, got the same as my "Image" above, with the Six (x6) options as previously indicated.

    This is interesting.

    Curiouser and Curiouser.

  • Found the issue --- You have to be signed into FamilySearch on another tab, before clicking the link.

    Would be better if the page prompted for a sign-in, since that's obviously what it requires to function.

    So back to putting a link for it somewhere.....
    As for my FHC, I will add it to my 20 PC's bookmarks.

    THANKS

      'Yes' ... you appear be correct.

      I just logged in with my non-member account; and, got the same "Discovery" page/screen with the same "Image" added by 'Jon' with only the Four (x4) options; NOT, Six (x6) options.

      Not to worry ... still a "Working in Progress".

      Anyway ... if I recall, I did not think that you appreciated all those "Campaigns"...

      Most, do not; and, "Turn Off" the 'Notifications'.

      Brett
    • Yeah, even if they get all of those toys working, I doubt I'll be using them. (The face-matching thing found a grand total of eight pictures of my ancestors on Family Tree, and three of those are of the same great-grandfather. Putting photos up is not high on my priority list.)

    I was confused.

    I wondered, how you could access the "FamilySearch" ( "GetSatisfaction" ) 'Feedback' Forum without being signed into "FamilySearch", in the first place!

    Took me a second or two!

    Then, 'hey, presto':

    'Whoa' ... I have never tried that before.

    I have always been signed into "FamilySearch" before accessing the Forum.

    Brett

    ps:

    'Jon' ... 'Wow' ... 20 PCs in your FHC ... I know that you are in Utah.
    "Down Under", the one I am Staffing now only has x5.
    And, the one before that was only x4.
    But, the first two, I ever Staffed, only had x2.

  • The ads you get are dependent on your account. There's 4 generic ones (not logged in). And I have 5 when logged in showing recent campaigns (occupations, headstones, obits...). So that page is dependent who's logged in and info relevant to that user.
    • Joe

      'Thank You' for joining in on this post; and, for the information.

      Hey ... question: Is there anywhere that we can go to get a list of ALL?

      Irrelevant as to, who, is logged in; and, their account - I gather it would also have something to do with whether or not the User/Patron was a Member of the Church; and/or, the "Notifications" that are 'Set' in a User's/Patron's "Settings".

      I think that I have seen most or just about all.

      But, I would just like to have a look at them all, together in their entirety.

  • There is no list of ALL. Even if there were any particular user (doesn't matter if LDS or not) may not have any hits relevant to their relatives.

    Most campaigns are generated by traversing a user's tree so many generation up and down (scope of interest) and seeing if they have any relevant hits (like an obit, headstone) for any of their tree's scope. If they do get a hit(s) that user would get an email. Like you said you've probably seen them before, but not likely all of them. You can try clicking on those email links. Most are still active but some aren't maintained form previous years (like Pioneer.)
    • Joe

      Again, 'Thank You'.

      'Yes', I had seen them in the past; but, I have tried accessing them all (well, as many as I could remember) just recently.

      I would still would love a "Complete" List though.

      Hm! ...

      I am not from the North American continent.
      As you will probably know I am from "Down Under".
      But, we have "Links" through our "English" heritage to "Early Utah Mormon Pioneers".

      I have helped Members of the Church from "Down Under" and throughout while in United Kingdom and the Americas; and, found that they (at least many of them) had "Links" through their Ancestors to "Early Utah Mormon Pioneers", that they did not even know about.

      It is sad that, the "FamilySearch"; and, the Church, have not continued to keep, alive; and, active, the campaign for "Early Utah Mormon Pioneers".
