An example of the power of indexed records...

I used the Cook County, Illinois Marriages databases in an "on the fly" example of the power of indexed records in a presentation on Saturday. I asked if anyone in the audience had ancestors from the Chicago area, and got an audience member to give me some very basic info about an ancestor's life. We ended up finding her uncle's marriage record, which included the maiden name of his wife - information this woman had never been able to find. She was delighted! There had been a nay-sayer in the audience, who kept insisting that technology was just making research too complicated. The example was so powerful! Thanks for providing such a great tool to help me identify and come to know my ancestors (and help others do the same)!
