Bring back the pilot and record search

It was wonderful to do research using your pilot and records search that was previously offered. The new database is a nightmare. The effective filters you had previously are no longer available and we are left to thrash around through useless data hoping to find someting by accident. For example, where can you enter a spouse name to narrow down a search for a marriage, death, or birth record? In the old search, this would allow you to look for your person of interest in all of those records, leaving out the unwanted litter. I just want to weep with dissapointment and frustration. The person who developed this apparently thinks more is better and know nothing aboout doing genealogy research.

  • Have you viewed the tutorials in the "Help" section that show you how to use the filters in the new program? It might be the assistance you are looking for.
Go to: https://www.familysearch.org/help/sel... and scrool down to 'video demonstrations' then choose one to learn how to use the new program.
Thank you for taking the time to share your idea for improving the FamilySearch website. We appreciate your contribution and hope that you will continue to share your ideas with us.

  • Thank you for your suggestion. I have already done that and I still cannot filter by spouse or children. The number of steps to find what I am looking for is overwhelming. I get too many false hits. To filter out unwanted records takes even more steps.

Please bring back the user friendly datatbase, so we can get back to finding what we want. Did the individuals who do this try to find their own ancestors?

  • I’m frustrated
Was recently in Salt Lake City. No one could show me any way to search that was as efficient as the old search method. Why could you not keep it as simple as it was? A person could enter information once or twice and scroll through everything that was pertinent, not all those false hits. More is NOT better.

Please review this horrendous mistake and go back to an effective and productive search method. Surely you have programers that could fix this!
