I’m frustrated

Do you want to open the app?

You have an app. When you send an email that has a link to view content, and you tap that link, there should be a dialogue window that asks if we want the app to open or not.

Somewhat sad that an organization that has awesome websites and awesome mobile apps can't make them talk to each other.

  • That is device dependent. Email links are tied to the email client being used on the device being used.

Ummm.... those clients are getting more and more identical in their construction. You have either, Windows, Android, or Apple. Even configuring imap and SMTP settings is the same on almost all email programs. Even portable ones. I'd rather use any app than a client that breaks 10 times a day and loses mail.

For consideration of problems, the programmers here really need us to be specific. They can't fix things if they don't know exactly what you are trying to do, what is going wrong and what you would like to see happen. Here's a list of questions for you to answer!

    1) What device (mobile, laptop, desktop or other) do you read your e-mail on?

    2) What is the device's operating system and version?

    3) What program (desktop application or mobile app, including version number) do you open and read your e-mail with?

    3) What kind of link are you getting in the e-mail? (I assume a link to a web page but it's best to take nothing for granted.)

    4) When you click on the link, what tries to open? A web-browser? If so, which one and which version? Something else?

    5) What program (desktop application or mobile app) would you like to have open when you click on the link?

    6) To which part of the program should the link take you to?

    7) Or are you asking for a dialog box to open when you click the link that gives you a list of options, including None (that is, "I clicked the link by accident and don't really want to open anything.")?

Screen shots that demonstrate the problem are also very useful in explaining the problem you see.

Often the programmers are too busy to answer here, but good ideas presented here do tend to just show up in the programming in some form or another, usually much better than ever thought of, months to years later.
