I’m angry at wasted time

Do people live to 145 yrs?

I looked up Betty Jackson b 1716. I got loads of results for 17 1861 census. This is ridiculous. Can the filter be "tweaked" to stop this?

  • I’m fabergasted that family search has gone down the same road as ancestry
looks to me as if they have taken a (very) quick look at ancestrys 'new search' but did not stay around long enough to find out that many custurmers are very very unhappy with the 'new search'. family search has seen what they seem to have other there and cloned it here . big mistake ancestry 'new search is a white elephant in mosts eyes!

  • I’m indifferent
IIt's obvious that Ancestry has some flaws in their search engine. However I do think that their still trying to find a better way. The problem is finding a balance between too few hits that may exclude useful records, vs. too many hits that takes too long to sort through. Coming up with that balance is not as easy to solve as some may think. The more records that are added to the data base, the more difficult it becomes to try and sort those records. Ancestry is one of the few online databases that allows users to customize their searches in more creative ways. Another problem is the amount of records that haven't been transcribed or indexed in enough detail to narrow the search argument. That's why indexing is so important, and why Family Search may potentially have an advantage over Ancestry. They can index records cheaper and more rapidly than Ancestry. I may be pointing out the obvious, but some of you need to stop complaining and have a little patience.
