  • At the top of every FS page is "Get Help"
    Click there.
You have several options to phone, chat, or email.
For phone, call 1-866-406-1830, when the operator answers, ask for FamilySearch support. The missionary can talk you through. Best hours are 8am to 8pm Utah time but there are missionaries somwhere serving around the clock.
Hint to remember the phone number. 866 area code is the hard part. The rest of the number is the date the Church was organized.

  • If you are asking a question and want to know how to edit without calling support, it depends on what you entered wrong.
    1. if you entered the wrong date or place for the right person, (using the "person" page, top portion) just click on the date or place and then you see an "edit" button to click, change the data, and save it.
    2. If you entered name wrong (called him John and his real name is Charles,) (using the person page, top portion) click on the name and you will see an "edit" button to click. Change the data and save it.
    3. If you entered a child into the wrong family, such as entering a child into the grandfather's family, (using the person page, scroll down where you can see the parents and children and record the PID numbers of the persons involved) click on the pencil icon to the right of the child's name. You can then do one of several actions:
    (a) remove the child from the parents
    (b) remove the child from one parent
    (c) replace both parents with different parents (you need to know the PID's of the right parents before you start this action.)
    4. If you have created a family with the right children as siblings, but the wrong parents., and you want to keep the wrong parents in the system, find or create the right parents and then do operation 3C above for each child.
