ERROR: PRINT facility. Family [only]. REVERSE side of form, containing, "Contributor's Name and Information" and "Instructions" NOT Printed.

ERROR: PRINT facility, from the DETAILS Screen / Page. Selecting ( print a ) "Family" [ only ] ( ie. Family Group Record" - without "Sources" ). The REVERSE side of form, containing, "Contributor's Name and Information"; and, "Instructions", sections, is NOT printed.

I do not know if this problem / issue has been discussed in the forum or not in the past; but, ...

For your information ...

I have never really used the "Print" facility from the "Details" Screen/Page very much; but, I have just noticed that when you Select ( print a ) "Family" [ only ] ( ie. "Family Group Record" - without "Sources" ) then there is an ERROR; whereby, the "Reverse" side of the form, which contains the "Contributor's Name and Information" section; and, the "Instructions" section, is NOT printed.

And, it does not matter if there are any children or not; or, the number of children.

Whereas, if you Select ( print a ) "Family with Sources" ( ie. "Family Group Record" - with "Sources" ) then the "Reverse" side of the form, which contains the "Contributor's Name and Information" section; and, the "Instructions" section, is printed.

Just thought that you might like to know; and, fix.

Regards,

Brett

It has been one year ago since I raised this problem/issue:

    And,

    (1) the problem/issue has never been acknowledged; and/or,

    (2) more importantly, the problem/issue has NOT been addressed/fixed.

Can an "Official 'FamilySearch' Representative" please confirm, whether; or, not, this problem/issue, has been added to the ever increasing list of problems/issues; of course, subject to limited resources and competing priorities.

    'Thank You' in advance.

    "Up-date"

Just in case, to "Help" you [ ie. "FamilySerach" ] along with addressing/fixing this problem/issue ...

The reason that the last page of a "Family Group Record" containing the "Contributors Name and Information" with "Instructs" ( and a "Blank" bottom section for notes, etc ) is NOT "Printed" when a User/Patron goes to ... "Print" ... a ...
"Family" [ only ] ( ie. "Family Group Record" - without "Sources" ) is; because, the "Last" parameter, "ContributorPage", is set to "false", in the resulting "URL".

You [ ie. "FamilySerach" ], either, need to (1) set the "ContributorPage" to "true" in the resulting "URL"; or, (2) give the User/Patron the "Option" to include/print that last page containing the "Contributors Name and Information" with "Instructs" ( and a "Blank" bottom section for notes, etc ).

And, by the way, it does not matter whether the User/Patron is "Logged-On" on with a Member or non-member account.

I would not have thought that addressing/fixing this problem/issue would not have taken so long; and/or, been too taxing; and, that was despite the fact of limited resources and competing priorities.

Low on the list of priorities, I know; but, for such a relatively quick and easy fix - Hm!

    'Thank You' in advance.

  • I'm going to venture that the decision to not include a contributor's information was intentional, that only the actual group (with or without sources) is printing. In the past, Family Groups Sheets were used to submit ordinance requests.

That method is no longer used and so I suspect (but do not know) that the developers simply eliminated that from the print out.

It would, however, be nice to know if anyone from FamilySearch can confirm my guess or let us know actually what the story is (over looked, perhaps?).

    'Yes' ...

    But ...

The last page containing the "Contributors Name and Information" with "Instructs" (and a "Blank" bottom section for notes, etc) IS "Printed" when a User/Patron goes to ... "Print" ... a ... "Family with Sources" (ie. "Family Group Record" - with "Sources").

The aforementioned is due to the fact there are no additional "parameters" included in the "URL" of that printing feature such as "SourcesPage" and "ContributorPage", like the one I raised in this post originally.

I would hazard a guess; and, say that you may be correct; and, they overlooked that in the printing a "Family Group Record" - with "Sources".

    Again ... Lack of Consistency.

Anyway, I would still like to have that last page containing the "Contributors Name and Information" with "Instructs" (and a "Blank" bottom section for notes, etc) "Printed". Of course, not for "Submission" purposes; but, in case I wanted to pass on a "Hard Copy" to a Family member or Relation; or, someone I was "Helping".

    • Consistent? FamilySearch? Dare I laugh?

All humor aside, I can only pray that eventually, a good person is assigned to seek out and make sure that FamilySearch is consistent across all teams in how it defines and uses terms, sets up pages, and so on.

The job is called editor. In film and television series, the person assigned to that task is given credit as the Story Editor.

Here, with FamilySearch, we need a site editor.

      Don't hold your breath!

Hey ... You could always volunteer!

      Sorry ... Just kidding!

      But ...

      Seriously ... 'Yes'.

  • I agree it is not printing correctly, however, I do not see any benefit of having the contributor page. I would suggest that it be removed from both prints. I do not see any benefit of having that page. These pages are not submitted to anyone so why have the contributor page.

Like I said to 'Tom' ...

I would still like to have that last page containing the "Contributors Name and Information" with "Instructs" (and a "Blank" bottom section for notes, etc) "Printed".

Of course, not for "Submission" purposes (although, technically, I think that they can still be "Submitted" - there are those who do not use, computers; and/or, the INTERNET - Granted, only a very small number; but, they still exist); but, also in case I wanted to pass on a "Hard Copy" to a Family member or Relation; or, someone I was "Helping".

    And, of course, ...

    Consistency.

Working in one ( "Family with Sources" ) and not the other ( "Family" ) ...
