Help with Preferred Portraits

Preferred portrait can't be selected in a way that centers the person in the circle. Not only does it cut them off visually as I look online, but this affects family tree charts and such that I try to get printed. PLEASE let us center on the pictures and choose to focus on one person in the picture instead of it including more of the picture than wanted.....

Question: Have you checked that "Tag" for the preferred "Portrait"?

Perhaps it is the "Tag" in the "Image" that is not centred; and, needs re-centering!

    Just a thought.

  • Did you post the photo and do the tagging or did someone else? I have a photo of a large family that I posted and tagged so that each tag is centered and sized exactly how I want it to show as their portrait and it does. https://www.familysearch.org/photos/a...

    • I was unable to go---I did get the DVDs that they recorded at it, and also the book about it. It would have been awesome!
    • I'm from Lancaster County and we went to see the skit. It was really neat to see that kind of reunion! We were able to connect to a few of the attendees but weren't there for the official "Relatives Around Me" experience. And we show no relationship to Martin and Elizabeth in FS/FT.

There is only one portrait per person now. No preferred portraits. In the edit or create portrait you can move the picture around to line it up with the circle, you can use the + and - to shrink or enlarge the picture to it fits in the circle.
    • No preferred portraits? This is a problem with the chart printing because if we want particular portraits printed on the chart, we'll have to go through the different ancestors and relatives, change the picture, hope no one else changes it while going through all of this, and then hurry and get the chart printed. Was there a problem having the preferred portraits? I loved that we could each choose our favorite picture to be the one that showed when we looked at our relative's page.

'Yes'; as, both, you and 'Christina', have indicated, the loss of the "Preferred" Portram, as "Portrait Wars"; and, will and has already lead to contention.
it, was a 'tragic casualty' - to supposedly improve performance.

The loss of the "Preferred" Portrait, has already lead to, what has been 'coined', in this Forum, as "Portrait Wars"; and, certainly contention. Everyone's perception of an (recent) Ancestor is different and quite personal; and, should be treated as such - hence, the "Preferred" Portrait.

I had not even considered what you have proferred about Chart Printing - another 'nail on the coffin' (please excuse the pun) as far as I am concerned, for NOT having the ability for Users/Patrons to have a "Preferred" Portrait.

I would rather see a slight degradation in ( loading ) performance, than not have the "Preferred" Portrait - I would be happy for the 'trade off'.

    ==========

    "FamilySearch"

Please reinstate the ability for individual Users/Patrons to, both, have and maintain, a "Preferred" Portrait for an Ancestor.

Please, disregard; and, sacrifice, any degradation in ( loading ) performance for the ability for individual Users/Patrons to, both, have and maintain, a "Preferred" Portrait for an Ancestor.

The ability for individual Users/Patrons to, both, have and maintain, a "Preferred" Portrait for an Ancestor, would be much more preferable; and, an acceptable 'trade off', rather the current situation, causing "Portrait Wars" and contention between/amongst Users/Patrons.

    'Thank You' in advance.
