  • Serbia is found in the FS Catalog:

    https://familysearch.org/search/catal...

It is also found in the FSWiki:
    https://familysearch.org/wiki/en/Serb...

In which search category are you looking?

I just took a look at the catalog entries for Serbia. I did not see anything that might contain information on individuals, such as civil or religious vital records (birth/christening/baptism, marriage and death).

If you are aware of any existing records that can be Microfilmed, and know who owns them and where they are located, then go to https://familysearch.org/archives/ser... and click the Find a Representative button and report the information to them.

Also, be aware that FamilySearch does not have all the records in the world at its disposal. There are currently some 200 teams in the field digitizing records to preserve them. This is done under contract with the content owners and those contracts dictate what can be done with the digitized records.

Serbia is a war-torn area and as such, you may have better success looking for records from that geographical area under the various names the locality has been known as.

  • Here's a website (non FS) that contains quite a bit of Eastern European family History, including a Serbia section:

And a similar discussion in this forum which may be of assistance:

  • Milan,

I went to the main search form and did a search where the only parameter was Any Event: Place = Serbia
    https://familysearch.org/search/recor...~

There are approx 667k records that have some event on them that took place in Serbia.

Because FamilySearch doesn't have many records from Serbia, most of those shown are going to be records where the event matched was not the primary event on the record (ex. someone was born in Serbia, moved to Ohio and is showing up in an Ohio Deaths collection). The Find-a-Grave and BillionGraves collections do contain some primary event records, but only a few thousand.

The reason that Serbia is not listed in the Restrict by Location drop down on the main search form is that we don't have any collections specifically from Serbia. Your best strategy is to search with Serbia as the place in the Any Event field and then on the results page click the Collections tab at the top and restrict to collections from the place of interest.
