  • We are checking with the original record and we will get back to you.
    • What original record? My Aunt and I have copies for proof of this information and can trace the Rogge/Schultz and Estep/McGowan line back to the 1500's and includes one Colonel of militia in the French & Indian War, a Lt. Colonel in the Continental Army, a member of the Virginia House of Burgesses, a private in the Tennessee Mounted Volunteers in the War of 1812 (New Orleans), a couple of "fire & brimstone" preachers. There is also a private in the 30th Texas Cavalry, CSA, named Samuel Houston Estep of San Saba, San Saba, Texas, USA. Jennie MAE Estep was born 12 Sept 1899 in San Saba, San Saba, Texas, USA, died 28 Dec 1978 in Abilene, Taylor, Texas, USA, and married C F (Christian Fred Rogge) on 15 Dec 1915 in Maryneal, Nolan, Texas, USA. You will find a couple of U.S. Census forms showing my GRANDMOTHER (Jennie MAE Estep Rogge) as a child was listed as Jennie B which I did not know about until I saw it and I questioned my Aunt (daughter to C F Rogge, Christian Fred, and Jennie MAE EStep Rogge and sister to Clifton Fred) and my second cousin Jerry Estep about it and they both said they never could understand and never got an answer from Great-grandad Estep as to why he called her "Jennie B". If you "check the information" take a close look at the document as I have found one document related to my wife where the relative was listed as "Dobner" but his given name was "Dabney".

  • I understand that you have much information regarding the Rogge family and that you have many sources to back up your information which is wonderful. The issue that I was dealing with is whether or not the information extracted from the record is accurate on the beta site. So we needed to go to the original record to make sure what was online from the extraction was correct. By looking at the original record we were able to confirm that what was extracted was what the record said.
There will be a time in the future where beta will have a feature to amend records and we hope you will do that when that feature becomes available. As you can see those who wrote the information down on the original record got their information wrong in several places which creates problems for those who are researching your particular family. So the issue is not that the information on beta was incorrect but, that the recorder of the record put down the wrong information.
