I’m happy

Index the collections available at all family history centers.

I travel a lot with work. It would be nice to search the catalog and see if the item I am interested in is a part of the collection of the FHC in the town I am at. Or even in o twon near me.

  • You can search 'Family History Centers' and locate the town you are traveling to. Then simply call to get information about the whether they have that item.

Sandra, that is what we have to do now. That is a lot of phone calls to make and the Family History Centers are not open 24-7. If I need to do a 34 hr reset, I might plan to do it one town earlier if I knew that a particular film or micro-fiche was available there. I don't always know which direction I am headed until I pick up my load that morning. By having the index online, I could see at a glance, 24-7, what each Family History Center has in their individual collections.

I recently visited the Family History Center in Sheridan, Wyoming. They had a list of all the films/micro-fiches in their collection. I'm guessing each Family History Center has their own list. It would be a lot easier if these lists were online and linked by film number and Family History Center.
