Are you looking to find a program to build a family tree? There is a free download on the old www.familysearch.org on the right hand side where you can download a Personal Ancestral File (PAF) family tree for free. If this is not what you want the disregard this statement.

  • John,

FamilySearch Beta is a site specifically to find genealogical data by searching in historical records, user submitted pedigrees (Trees), or lists of record resources (Library Catalog). There are currently no tools built into the site to organize the conclusions you make about the data into a relationship tree (or other view).

At some future date the FamilyTree (new FamilySearch) tools will be integrated into this site as well as made more broadly available to patrons who are not members of the LDS church. FamilyTree is built specifically to capture, organize and facilitate collaboration around these conclusions.

Until FamilyTree is integrated with this site, you may use it at http://new.familysearch.org if you have an account. You may also choose to use any number of free or commercial products. FamilySearch works closely with a great number of the key software providers across genealogy and has provided a list of products certified to share data with the FamilySearch system at https://devnet.familysearch.org/certi...
