  • Hi, I am over marketing familysearch to members of the LDS Church. I am collecting ideas for what works to help motivate, would love to trade some thoughts, can you email me directly so we can discuss?

  • I have seen the Young Men and Young Women's Organizations get together to help the youth register and prepare a name of an ancestor for baptism. In the process, the whole family becomes involved.

Share the principles which relate to the doctrine of Redeeming the Dead in the form of testimony, 5th Sunday discussions, Sunday School, and in other Sunday block meetings. As a Sunday School teacher, using the Old Testament this year has opened up many occasions to share experiences and information about new FamilySearch. These videos are great motivators: http://lds.org/pa/display/0,17884,885...

If there is a local family history center have an open house to demonstrate and invite members to register.

In the recent Relief Society General Conference it was discussed knowing our history and getting back to the things that Relief Society did in the beginning...such as Family History and Temple Work.

In one ward we had a Family History Fair where members set up booths and dressed up in costumes depicting clothes immigrant ancestors would have worn, They displayed photos and artifacts, and told stories. The most recent FamilySearch products were available for people to try on computers.

Also, if members can see how easy research has become with products like beta.familysearch.org, wiki.familysearch.org, and forums.familysearch.org they will want to become more involved. In less than one hour you can find info about an ancestor and prepare ordinance work. The more family history workers who become knowledgable and share the more members will become involved.

A great idea is for VT's and HT's to spend 10 minutes before they leave to preview a FamilySearch product or show something they learned or someone they found.

    I hope these ideas help!
