I’m confused and frustrated!

New vrs Old Versions

Please do not delete the original version. While the updated version gives a large amount of useful information (for new people) there are many times when I just need to go directly to the planner. The new system has no such means of directly opening the planner.

This new version required me to spend over 45 minutes of diligent looking to open a planner which took only 2 minutes using the old version.

It seems that the new pages are intended for an entirely different purpose, i.e. instructing newbies. It does a good job of doing that---but as a 10 year veteran, it frustrates me to the point of asking the Stake President to be released from my calling!

  • In the old version you could go directly to the planner?  I thought you always had to select a name of the person you were helping.  Did I miss something?  That is the same today.  The general idea of the planner is to help consultants find information for the people they are helping.  And Yes it is mostly geared to helping people who have not engaged in Family History before.    Like to get more people involved in learning and finding out about their ancestors.

You indicate that "... And Yes it is mostly geared to helping people who have not engaged in Family History before."

The 'Consultant Planner' is NEEDED by, both, OLD and NEW "Consultants"; as, such, the original premise of this post by 'Dan', is to RETAIN (and MAINTAIN) the OLD version of the 'Consultant Planner'.

I second that premise and request.

I much prefer the OLD 'Consutlant Planner'.

I do not know what Focus Group that "FamilySearch" used to "Design", "Develop"; and, "Test", the NEW 'Consultant Planner'; but, to me (and a number of others), the Focus Groups DOES NOT seem wide enough or indicative of the vast majority of "Consultants".

More times than not, these up-dated/revised, existing Features are foist upon us without warning.

Admittedly, in the case of the 'Consultant Planner', we were advised of the up and coming "Changes" to the 'Consultant Planner'; but, I am of the opinion that the 'Feedback' of the many was not taken into consideration - as quite a number of "Consultants" that I have come in contact with do not like or appreciate the NEW 'Consultant Planner'.

Please RETAIN and MAINTAIN the OLD (Style) 'Consultant Planner' - that is all that we are asking/requesting.

    'Thank You' in advance.

    Brett.

  • I know some people do not believe that we test with users but we do In this case the Feedback was taken from many people. The very large majority have high praise for the new format. They saw things they had not seen before. They think it is organized better and easier to use. Yes some had some concerns and some of those are being worked on. People currently have a choice and most are choosing the new version.

  • I have many records on familysearch.com, but now I can't find any of them. The screen says it does not support my present browser. I downloaded Google Chrome, but it still does not work.
