Place to record microfilm numbers (fiche, books, etc) found in the catalog that are located in local FHC.

When microfilm/fiche numbers (after signing in) are available at a local FHC can there by a way to add them to a list? When I find records that I want to look at or order from Salt Lake I just add them to my "Cart" where I can print them or decide to order them later.

  • Donna,

There is no shopping cart for film numbers and catalog items.

The best work around for now is to just open a text document and copy these numbers from the browser page and paste them into a text document.

On Mac OS X you can select the text of interest and then type command-c to copy, click the text doc to switch applications and then type command-v to paste.

On windows machines it is control-c and control-v.

There is an effort underway to add local films and other collections to the FHL Catalog. The Oakland CA region was using a system called Athena to show all the FHC inventory of all the FHC's in the area. It became too expensive to maintain so the FHL decided to add our area's inventory to the FHL Catalog.

In addition I would suggest creating a Source in your sourcebox not attached to anyone. I would add the URL for film ordering and then in the notes section you can add lists of film numbers you want to possibly order or have found at your local FHC. If you do it in a source you will have it available whenever you log in to FS no matter what computer you are on.

Thank you for the help! Those are great ideas and will help a lot. I used to write them all down but papers get lost... Good idea to store on a document or in the source box.
