Problems with using .png files.

I tried adding a .png photo file and it had a few problems. After uploading it showed a small white box in All photos instead of showing the photo. I did click in the white box and it did show the photo so I could tag faces in it, but doesn't show properly in All Photos.

It also doesn't show the second tag I made on the .png file in People part of your program.

  • Can you post a link to your photo so we can investigate.

    Thanks.

  • Clicking on the link is not the problem (that works)... it is when you click on "All Photos" That is where you just see the white box with the words/link "Ancestor Photo ". [https://familysearch.org/photos/view/...]

On the screen you get when you click on 'All Photos" tab you see all the .jpg photos, but on the .png photo.... the .png photo shows just the white box. It would be best to also see what the .png files look like to be able to know which photo they represent.

PS: I tried adding an image to this reply to show you what I am writing about, but that doesn't work. At the bottom of this reply... there is an Add Image button on the lower right corner. When I click on it, it allows me to browse to my image that I wanted to attach to this email. Then I click on the 'Upload' button which changes to 'Uploading'. Then nothing happens even after several minutes. Oh well I hope you get the idea.

  • OK, I know what's happening. We generate the image that is displayed on the "All Photos" page and currently we have a problem with that code for .png files and the thumbnail for the "All Photos" page doesn't get created.

We will fix the problem with generating the thumbnails, and then reprocess the .png files that don't have thumbnails and create the thumbnails for the "All Photos" page.

When that is complete, your "All Photos" page will display the picture instead of the "Ancestor Photo" link.
