I’m SAD,

Question: Should a T&FH CONSULTANT either Stake or Ward see THEMSELVES in particular work with FAMILY HISTORY NETWORK where they are CALLED?

FamilySearch

Re: "Temple & Family History Consultant", either, Stake/District; or, Unit (ie. Ward/Branch).

And, 'work with' "Family History Network".

Question:

Should a "Temple and Family History Consultant", either, Stake/District; or, Unit (ie. Ward/Branch), be able to see 'themselves', in the particular 'work with' "Family History Network", where they are 'Called'?

Background:

The reason I ask this question, is that, although my 'Calling' is set-up correctly with regard to the various Membership "Systems", I do not see 'myself' displayed in the particular 'work with' "Family History Network", where I am are 'Called'; whereas, I see other "Temple and Family History Consultants".

Comment (Perceived "Fault"/"Flaw"):

If it is by "Design", that a "Temple and Family History Consultant", either, Stake/District; or, Unit (ie. Ward/Branch), are NOT able to see 'themselves', in the particular 'work with' "Family History Network", where they are 'Called'; then, personally, I (like others) perceive that to be a "Fault"/"Flaw" (NOT an Enhancement) that needs addressing/fixing ASAP.

I suggest and believe that "Temple and Family History Consultants", either, Stake/District; or, Unit (ie. Ward/Branch), in their own right, SHOULD be able to see 'themselves', included in the particular 'work with' "Family History Network", where they are 'Called', along with all the other "Temple and Family History Consultants" so 'Called'.

Postscript:

This matter was also raised in a previous post, some 6 Months ago, the 'link' is to the Last "Reply" in that post is:

Notification about newly called temple and family history consultants in our stake.

Submitted for your information; consideration; and, attention,

'Thank You' in advance.

'Thank You' for joining in on this post of mine.

But, this post of mine has NOTHING to do with the "Knowledge Article" of "The name and contact information of a temple and family history consultant does not show on FamilySearch.org" to which you have referenced; that, relates to one's "Consultant' "Calling" not being displayed, where appropriate.

My post deals with a "Family History Network" that exists within "FamilySearch" listing a 'Consultant's' local "Temple and Family History Consultants" - ie. Area; Stake/District; and, Unit (ie. Ward/Branch).

      Again, 'Thank You'.

  • Sorry I misunderstood. When I go to find local help at FamilySearch my name appears on the list of people to contact.

On the consultant resources “network” page, the specific wording I see is “Other” Ward Temple and Family History Consultants and my name does not appear there.

It seems more logical to me not to see my name in that list :)

    No probs.

'Yes', the lack of consistency (or, should I say, inconsistency) in "FamilySearch" is such a bother.

And, 'Yes', on the top level Menu (on the right-hand-side of the page/screen), there is the "Help" option, that reveals a 'Drop Down' Menu, where there is the "Contact Us" option, on that page/screen, for Member Users/Patrons, is the list of ('Local') "My Temple and Family History Consultants" where the 'Consultant's' sees themselves listed with all the other available Consultants.

Whereas, 'Yes', on the "Family History Network" page/screen the 'Consultant' DOES NOT see themselves listed, in the particular 'work with' "Family History Network", where they are 'Called'.

I agree that the particular "Family History Network" where the 'Consultant' is 'Called" does have the preceding word of "Other".

    Hence, your logic, quite acceptable.

But, to me it is the the lack of consistency (or inconsistency) in "FamilySearch", rather than logic, that I find bothersome.

Either, you appear on, both; or, neither, certainly NOT on one and not the other.

And, in any case, seeing your name listed with the other Consultants within your particular network promotes a sense of team spirit, to some degree.

So, I still maintain that "Temple and Family History Consultants", either, Stake/District; or, Unit (ie. Ward/Branch), in their own right, SHOULD be able to see 'themselves', included in the particular 'work with' "Family History Network", where they are 'Called', along with all the other "Temple and Family History Consultants" so 'Called'.

And, I am supported by another regular participant in this Forum.

So, it is not just me.

We definitely need to promote a sense of team spirit, to some degree.

  • If I understand your question correctly, you mean that you don't see your own name on the list of local contacts as consultants when you are logged into FS/FT, correct?

If this is what you are pondering as bothersome, it makes sense that you wouldn't see your own name, because you would not contact yourself to ask a support question.
    • It would be helpful to see your name to verify that you are indeed set up properly. If you don't see yourself, you have to wonder if something is wrong.
    • Chas

      'Thank You' for that.

So simple; and, what might seem so inconsequential; but, so true.

I did not even think about that one.

In fact, if you were not set-up properly, you would not even get access to that feature.

At least if you could not get access to that feature, when you know that you should, you know that you are not set-up as a "Temple and Family History Consultant".

      Again, 'Thank You' for that.

      Made my day.

'No', of course, you would not, want; or need, to contact 'yourself' to ask a support question!

    That goes without saying ...

    Again ...
