Show Details link for Data Problems is broken

Clicking on the "Show Details" link at the bottom of the Research Help Data Problems window does NOT take you to details of the Data Problems. Instead it takes you to the details of the Record Hints instead.

Note that I am in the process of fixing these specific duplicates so this specific data problems window may not be around for long (although I suspect that this would not behave differently on any other profile that has both data problems and record hints present)

Note that selecting the Show Details link on the main Details page does exactly the same thing (i.e., produces a window of information WITHOUT the Data Problems being included). This is rather schizophrenic, and is related to all the Research Help terminology inconsistencies reported in the following which was reported 2 months ago (specifically suggestions 2 and 3):

  • I'm not sure what you have going with the Data Problems, but as for the Record Hints I found a fix as such...when there is only one Hint, then with mouse click on it and it goes to the Review and Install page. When there are more than one Hint, place mouse in the bottom of the Hints Window and with right mouse go open in new Tab. Then you can move back and forth with the back button until you are done. Hope this is some help.

  • It appears to me that the only data problems that are dropped are the possible duplicates when you click the "show details" I have not been able to find a record that has duplicates and other data problems listed in the data but any with real data issues do appear along with hints when you go to details. However, duplicates which appears as data problems do not display in the "show details" as the original poster displayed.

I suspect this is intentional on the part of the developers but there appears to be some terminology issues. The "show details" link titles the list as hints -- I am not sure why a marriage date before birth date as some records show is a hint. I certainly do not think of it as a hint. Is a possible duplicate a Hint? If so why does in not show in the show all list. We really need a good explanation from one of the developers as to what should show and why and in addition why some other things do not display.

  • When I checked the problem Jeff was having, he had not yet fixed the problems, but I saw the same thing he saw with Chrome on a Windows 7 computer.

I need to find another situation where both hints and data problems exist.

Okay, I just checked a relative who had 3 Data Problems, 9 Hints, and 2 Research Suggestions. When clicking on the data problems icon/title, and then show more at the bottom of the data problem list, all of the data problems, hints, and research suggestions showed up. This is the way it was before, but not when I checked Jeff's person. He evidently has fixed all the data problems and hints, because the profile now shows none in any category.

I believe this problem is now resolved.
    • I suspect it is not. It just depends on how things exist. When I looked at examples where there were data problems, hints, and research suggestion all showing, they displayed just fine, but the case I had with 3 problems and 3 hints continued to misbehave until I fixed all the duplicates.

Every since they rearranged and "improved" the research help area, things have been inconsistent and a bit scrambled. sometimes things are "data problems" or "Research helps" and other times they are "hints". This is one of the reasons that the total number counters are not working correctly all the time.
