Sign in - sign out

As a T&FHC in a small branch, I supply my own laptop on Sundays. When sharing this computer, I need to sign out so others can sign in. Familysearch makes it difficult to sign out and then allow someone else to sign in on the same computer. We've had to go to a different browser - or even go to churchofjesuschrist.org and sign out there and then try to sign in under a different name. Or... get the helper number - which is not always easy. Please review this "sign out" and "sign back in" feature. It's been a problem for about 6 months that I can recall.

I also have this same problem at home with family computers that are sync together on google. I have to have my husband sign in on Firefox as I use Chrome. He's the clerk, so you can imagine how frustrated that can make him as he tries to work on his own tasks.

Please advise if you can suggest a go-around.

One solution you can consider using is incognito or user profiles in chrome.

    https://www.pcworld.com/article/20893...

Each user can create their own login on the computer (don't share logins).

If a single user needs multiple browser profiles (One for work, one for home) they can create a profile for each mode they want to work in, the browser will keep all things separate.

  • This is actually the way it's designed, called SSO (Single Sign on) . The idea is sign in on one web pages fs, lds.org etc and we sign into all LDS websites and it stays persistent in that browser. If as you said try and sign in when the browsers has a tab open to any church web sites then it returns that sign on id. Like Lundgren said the work around is included as well as what you discovered, each of you use a different browser.

It does not matter whether or not, one if from, a "Small" Branch; or, a "Large" Ward.

The same holds true in both situations.

I have been a member of, both, a number, of "Small" Branches; and, of course, "Large" Wards.

Most of those Branches and Wards DO NOT have a "Family History Centre" on site; and, there is NO chance to use the ("Clerk's") 'Admin' Computer for "Temple and Family History" Work on a Sunday.

I do the same, take my "Laptop" Computer to Church on Sundays to assist and help, if; and, when, required. And, I have to do the same with each an every different User/Patron, that I assist/help.

Apart from what has been suggested by 'Lundgren', there is NO easy solution.

Anyway, at Church, with the Branch/Ward, I always recommend that if anyone needs some help or assistance with "Temple and Family History" Work, on a Sunday, at Church; then, PLEASE remember to bring YOUR Own, "Laptop" Computer; and/or, "Tablet"; and/or, in a 'pinch', your "Mobile" Phone (with internet access).

    I hope that helps.

I do a lot of indexing (close to 120 thousand names). Now it is getting very frustating to get signed in. It seems to get worse by the day.

Firstly, "Welcome" to this "FamilySearch" ( "GetStaisfaction" ) 'Feedback' Forum.

Secondly, "Official 'FamilySearch' Representatives", do monitor; and, sometimes, participate in, this Forum.

Thirdly, I am just another User/Patron, just like yourself (and, happen to be a Member of the Church).

Many Users/Patrons who regularly participate in this Forum who have a great deal of knowledge and experience with "FamilySearch", like to assist/help other Users/Patrons like yourself.

Finally, I too have noticed that there has been a problem/issue of late; especially, when you have even 'Checked'/'Ticked' the "Keep me signed in for 2 weeks"; and, you are quite often required to "Sign" back in with your 'UserID' and 'Password' well within the 2 Weeks.

      You are not alone.

  • Because of problems that I've encountered going between the beta and production versions of FamilySearch, I now limit my use of the beta version to its own computer. I realize that not everyone has access to a second computer, but I've found that to be the only way to overcome problems dealing between the two systems.
