I’m frustrated

Sorting for new records

I always check for new records/databases by sorting by date. BUT, the list goes back to alpha whenever I leave the page. For example: I find a great new record, click it to search for my people, then go back to continue checking what else is new. BUT when returned to the Recods list page, it's not only reverted to being in alpha order, it's also put me back at the top of the page! It's very frustrating and waste of time. It should take me back to where I left off.
Please, please consider fixing this!! Thanks, Evie

We have been told that all these posts get reviewed by someone at Family Search and suggestions like this get passed on to the appropriate teams. Maybe this is a modification that can be programmed in by them some day.

In the meantime, to save yourself time and frustration, when you have sorted the list, scrolled down the page, and see a collection you want to search in, instead of just clicking on the title as usual, right-click if using Windows or command-click if using a Mac. This will open the collection in a new tab or new window depending on how your browser is configured. When done with the collection, close that window or tab to be back at the list of databases right where you left off.

  • Thanks for the reminder. I have done this but had forgotten about it. Even when I was doing it, I'd forget sometimes and be back to square one. I do hope it's addressed someday.
