Trailing spaces in numeric queries should not error out

Pasting film numbers into a film number search often includes a trailing space. Searches for film numbers with trailing spaces should not error out with "A film number can only contain digits." The system should automatically remove any leading or trailing spaces before processing the query.

  • Wallace,

Thank you for contacting Family Search Support with your suggestion to manage spacing in the numbering for Family History Library Catalog searches. Often times this problem is made by the user when they copy the FHL Catalog number and paste it in the catalog search box. This results in extra key strokes to get to the film.

Our engineers have looked at your comment and are looking at ways to minimize the key strokes.

This site is a work in progress and we hope you will continue to give us your input as you use the beta site.
