I’m annoyed

FedEx claims I'm not at home and can't deliver, but I'm home!

This is a problem that has happened to me and my girlfriend now several times (3 or 4). We will have ordered something online that's shipped FedEx ground, and we'll get an email that there was a "delivery exception," meaning the package couldn't get delivered, and the explanation will be something along the lines of, "Customer not at location." Problem is, one or both of us often work from home, so we know that we were home at the time it supposedly couldn't be delivered. Sometimes there is a FedEx door hanger explaning, sometimes not, but in either case, our buzzer works fine and not only that, our super lives in the building and is always around during the day for deliveries. So something doesn't add up. I double-checked with a shipper just to make sure he had the address right, which he did, and he chalked it up to "lazy FedEx delivery person." I called FedEx's consumer help line and they said that they would check with the delivery hub, but I remain dubious that anything will change.

  • I’m betrayed
This has happened to me twice now within the last 6 months. I order something, track it online, and on the day it goes "out for delivery" I make sure to listen for the doorbell (as I often work from home). At the end of the day there's no package, no note on my door, and the cryptic "delivery exception". FedEx customer service suggested that maybe the note "fell off the door"... yeah right. One package was supposed to be a "guaranteed delivery by Christmas", so of course I showed up for Christmas with no gift. Gee thanks FedEx.

They totally lied to us by saying we are not at home when my husband and I both came home early from work on different days to receive the package...no knock, no phone call, no tag at the front door. Because of this we have completely stopped using FedEx and are using UPS. Our UPS driver rocks and calls us both to let us know he is dropping off a package or to see if either of us are home (whether the package is going to my husband or me, he calls us both). Try UPS from now on.

  • I’m disgusted
This happened to me over the holidays with the temp drivers. I work from my home and walked by the front door to see a "sticky" on the window about attempted delivery. I also have five dogs. If the doorbell had rung or there was a knock, I would have known. I finally put a sign up saying I AM HOME. RING THE DOORBELL AND WAIT FOR ME TO GET TO THE DOOR. Needless to say, the next two times the temp delivered packages, the doorbell rung and the dogs barked their heads off. When my regular driver came back after the holidays, I told him the story and got quite the eye roll - like this isn't he first time he heard the same story.

I also have a 8.5 x 11 sign on my garage door window stating PLEASE LEAVE ALL PACKAGES AT THE FRONT DOOR. Guess how many drivers follow that one?

  • I second Tracy's recommendation to put a note on the door to make sure the driver rings the doorbell or knocks on the door.

I have had several problems like this over the years with Fedex and UPS. It seems like the drivers would rather you not be home so they can just leave their 'sticky' and be on the the next house. It's a really poor way of doing things and at times, it forced me to drive into the city to the warehouse to pick up my shipments.

Maybe if these shipping companies based driver performance on how many items are actually delivered to the customer instead of just focusing on speed of the routes, we would actually get our items quicker!

I also recommend UPS instead of FedEx. I get perhaps 10 UPS deliveries per month, and have never had any issues, while the 1 or 2 FedEx deliveries I get per month are a constant headache.

My particular FedEx problem is that they refuse to knock on the door if signature is not required. They either leave the package outside or leave a delivery exception notice, without even knocking on the door.

I tried to complain to customer service, but I was told by a FedEx employee that whether to knock on the door or just leave the package outside is "left to the driver's discretion if a signature is not required."

  • I’m disappointed
Early this morning I tracked a FedEx shipment which was shown as "out for delivery." When there was no delivery by 1 pm, I checked again to find that the status was "exception - no attempt made; rescheduled." While delivery tomorrow is still well within the committment, it's a nuisance to hang around in case a signature is required when delivery has been canceled. Apparently FedEx doesn't want cheap shipments to arrive too quickly, so as to avoid eroding the price structure for faster delivery. Meanwhile UPS is eating FedEx's lunch...

  • I’m angry and frustrated
I ordered a $2,500 Dell computer and HD monitor which was suppposed to be delivered on a Friday (according to FedEx's tracking site). I stayed home from work Friday only to find upon checking again that it was reschduled for Saturday. So my husband and I got up early and stayed home and within hearing of the front door all day. Around 2pm I checked the door to find the doortag saying we weren't home. I spent an hour on the phone with customer service trying to get my package. They got a hold of the hub supervisor who said the driver "knocked three times" which is of course not true because we were home and listening for it! Plus we have a perfectly working doorbell that WAS NEVER USED! When I asked them to call back the hub supervisor to tell them we would come pick up the packages at their hub, they suddenly couldn't get a hold of anyone at the hub (this was still during working hours) - apparently nobody answers the phone at the hub when they know someone is calling to complain. Now I have to wait until Tuesday(!) and my husband has to take a day off work to stay home and receive the package. I hate them and will never order anything that is being shipped FedEx.

  • I am glad I am not alone in this matter, there is some comfort in solidarity.
My sister sent my wife and I some wine, which requires an adult signature upon delivery. I have had three Delivery Notices and the third was received today, WHILE we were both at home...no knock, or doorbell...made sure to stick a notice on the door though. I called 1-800-go-fedex and was treated like I was at fault, "the driver was there, put a tag on your door..." A bunch of inept morons!

This has happened to me TWICE. First with UPS and now with Fedex. I ordered a few items off amazon and chose the 2 day delivery option. My shipment was suppose to arrive today, and I made sure this time that I would be able to hear the doorbell or knock. I even checked the front door every 15 min. Later, I get on the computer to check the tracking and it says the delivery has been attempted?! Are they sending ninjas to deliver these packages?! I'm almost certain that the reason for this is because they don't actually have the package yet and are trying to buy some time by coming up with that bs excuse.

I wouldn't be so pissed off if fedex was honest about the delivery date.
    • i worrk as an admin shipper for 8 years now and knowing drivers from all the deliveries companies i can tell you exactly what it is first they always have the item they say they have because its scanned and it is location scanned so that it tells you where it is anytime it gets scanned it automaticly update the location now lets get to the point of missed appointment you know drivers dont have breaks and also dont have the choice to make overtime or not they have few option aviable to them tho when they feel they are not gonna make it in time or they gonna have to finish at 7 or 8 Pm they rather say you wernt home and they did put a tag they will fill the tag and throw ur part later on or if they are really honest they will PASS on your location for multiples reasons , as simple as Full,Cant find package in truck etc etc im not saying they are always doing it on purpose but still...... Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me ;)

I HATE HATE HATE Fedex. Like others here, I waited at home all day, always attentive for the bell/buzzer, and nobody came by. I checked online at about 3 in the afternoon, and apparently 20 MINUTES before that a driver had come by and "tried to deliver", There was even a tag on my building door WHICH I LIVE LITERALLY 6 feet from outside my window. But my buzzer had not rung. I don't think they truly tried to deliver, just left the tag and bailed!

Meanwhile, an entire day wasted-- and I can't wait at home all day again, so now I have to go to their pickup facility in THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE (you'd think in Queens, NY there's no such thing, but there is-- Fedex found a place impossible to reach by public transit) and lug it home myself Being a New Yorker, I don't have a car. This shouldn't be my problem-- this is the whole POINT of home delivery!

Not the first time this has happened with this company! It's bad enough when I miss the deliveryman, but when I deliberately STAY HOME to receive a pickup and they don't EVEN TRY, it makes me upset.

So, I ask to file a formal complaint against the driverwith a copy to the national office and an email copy to me. They made a second attempt on the same day and got my stuff at 5:30pm

They just needs some butt kicking.

I am experiencing the same problem today. There was a child's birthday party at the time that the delivery person indicated that no one was at home. This was on Saturday. They went back today and said no one was at home. My daughter-in-law was at home waiting for him. It appears to be the home delivery status that is causing the delay. The FedEx express was delivered today to the same location. Door tags were not left at either times.

  • I’m observing once again
I had a chat with my REAL FedEx driver and REAL UPS driver after the holidays to get the story after, once again, I was left a sticky for some important medcine that I needed that needed a signature. I was SO livid, that I called FedEx corporate and they made the driver come back at 8pm. :) But the story is this....the people who get screwed the most are those who are near the end of the route. The drivers are EXPECTED to deliver X amount of packages a day and be back at the depot by 7pm or so or they get dinged by the bosses. An attempted delivery is considered as part of that X amount. The temps mostly can't keep up with the schedule around the holiday - and that's why they usually carry two drivers to make it faster. As for FedEx ground - that's really RPS and those drivers own their own routes. If they don't feel like going out in the rain, it's their decision - as they bid on the route and do as they please. Still not a very good excuse - just an observation.

  • I’m frustrated
In my experience about 50% of the delivery attempts claims made by FedEx are lies...no attempt was made, no knock was made (i.e. I sit 5 feet from the door in a quiet room), and no door tag was left. When I follow up with FedEx through their 800 number, they are almost entirely unhelpful.

Now I just make it a point to email any vendor I buy from who ships to me through FedEx and let them know that I'm much less likely to buy from them if they ship through FedEx...they should switch to UPS.

I got out of work early to get a Fedex Saturday delivery. I have plenty of things to do, but since I know Fedex requires a signature no matter how worthless your package is, I waited. and waited and waited Always right by my door and I even checked the tracking info a few times over the course of the day. Finally at 2pm I checked the tracking info and it told me "Delivery exception- nobody was home" from 1:56pm. I ran outside. not tag and obviously no attempt had been made.

Now I have to wait until Tuesday to get another attempt which Im not even sure If anyone will be home to sign for it...

    Go UPS!!

  • Every time a package is shipped to me via FedEx the story is always the same. "Delivery Exception: Customer not available or business closed." It doesn't matter if I'm home, it doesn't matter if I tell them to leave the package with my doorman. They will fail to deliver day after day.

I ordered an iPod for my girlfriend more than two weeks before Christmas and after several "failed attempts" and a dozen phone calls with FedEx, they ended up shipping it back to Apple two days before the holiday. I begged them to just make the delivery to my job. They wouldn't.

I will never again do business with FedEx. Their employees are incompetent, lazy morons. They lie to their customers on a regular basis and for the high shipping costs you will receive nothing but headaches and unreliable service.

  • UPS stands for United Pulverizing Service. They have smashed many items and damaged them beyond use. Frequently, packages are destroyed, but contents intact. You especially can tell when they use the vinyl banding. I have even called senders to verify that the packages were in excellent condition before UPS touched them. FEDEX has been much better for me, but I use the US Mail when I send. Tracking sucks, but the package gets there.

  • I’m Not happy
UPS drivers always ring our doorbell when delivering. This afternoon 3 of us are home,no noisy TV, Radio, etc....didn't hear a doorbell and I was at my computer in bedroom and checked the tracking link for a package I was waiting for. Guess what? It was delivered a couple hours ago! So,I went to the front door and there's the package.
Nice job Fedex driver....If it was "your" package .......
Com'on, all ya have to do is knock or push the little doorbell button.
    • The next day I was in the living room and just happened to here something like a soft "thud" on the doorstep. By the time I got to the door I could see the driver was moving swiftly to his truck. I could have yelled something like "Hey! Why don't you knock or ring the doorbell?" But, I figure it wouldn't do much good since I'm not his boss...

  • I’m perturbed and agitated
i'd rather have a sticky on my door and have to go get it than what happened today/yesterday. i'd been anticipating a delivery of ingredients for products, for my business. i hadn't gotten a tracking number from the vendor, they never sent one, and i had no choice in who it was shipped by or how. so when i emailed them and they said it was delivered yesterday and gave me the tracking number, i was shocked. uhm...no it wasn't. USPS left a small pkg, but there was no 14lb fedex pkg or sticky. i'd been home all day in a silent house, even checked my computer history and saw that i'd been on a website forum at the same time that it was supposedly delivered. i called fedex, they called the driver "he delivered it, left it at your door" well, of course he did! what else is he going to say? i checked with my neighbor across the hall, she hadn't seen it either, and is the snoopiest old woman on earth, sooo. also, i live in a town of 15,000 ppl...not like it's a metropolis. so, i called them back, they said they'd put a tracer on it, etc...great, wooot...still leaves me with out the ability to fill my orders. i can't imagine how long this is going to take to be resolved. fedex needs to fix their system in a major way. i wouldn't have used them at all if i'd had the choice, but i didn't.

  • The same thing happened to me on the delivery of my iPad.
My wife was home and we but we still had a signed delivery release attached to the front door just in case she was "indisposed" when the delivery van arrived.

Nevertheless, we still got the dreaded "delivery exception" - the signed release was still on the door and there was no "sticky" notice of delivery posted anywhere.

I was watching the delivery status online though and as soon as I saw the "delivery exception", I called FedEx (1800FEDEX) and asked them to attempt re-delivery the same day. I told them that we did not receive any notice and that there was a signed release still on the front door. They called the driver and told her to attempt re-delivery.

She DID and we got the delivery on the same day.

My advice is to check the delivery status like a hawk - ALWAYS post a signed release notice on your front door and call FedEx IMMEDIATELY when you see the delivery exception. They were actually surprisingly responsive once I complained.

    Be the squeaky wheel...

In our case, the driver had attempted to deliver it to a neighbor.

FEDEX is a no show. Called them up and they said they don't know what happened - amazing! Next time, I'll tell the shipper to use UPS or forget it.

Yesterday I watched my surveillance system in disbelief as a FedEx guy stopped in front of my house, didn't even bother to remove the $4000 computer he was supposed to deliver from his truck, jogged over to my door, slapped a sticky note on my mailbox, and jogged back to his truck and left. These guys are lazy slackers that would rather do less work if it means "delivering" everything earlier. I'm never using FedEx again.

  • Count me as another FEDEX sucker. I have had this same problem for the past 2 Amazon orders I placed. They don't even bother to leave a sticky note on my door, I don't think they even drive by! And I'm not sure where my packages end up. The first order was electronics and the seller had to send me a second one. The FEDEX delivery guy must have needed an HDMI switch! FEDEX ground delivery must have employed a critical mass of lying thieves!!!
    • I had a similar experience with FedEx. They don't bother to knock and just left a sticky note outside my door that they attempted delivery but no one answers. Imagine this... I called FedEx to complain that the driver didn't even ring the doorbell or knock and when they called the driver to redeliver within the same day, he said he can't enter the gate because it's closed. What a bunch of BS! Yeah right - and that sticky note just attached to my door by itself! I believe the driver just wanted to steal my DELL computer and wanted me to sign the release! Never sign the release for FEDEX is my advice to all! And you know how DELL is... the box is full of their trademark so there's no need to guess what's inside - valuable or not. Dell is dumb! I'm not ordering from them again since they only use FedEx. Anyway, when I saw the driver outside for the redeliver, he was just smiling and looked guilty as hell!!

Someone saw our driver just ran up with door tags then left a few time. A lot of residences have filed complains against the driver, but Fedex is not doing anything. They are barking mad and a waste of customers' life.

  • I’m DRUNK WITH REVENGE
My sister paid $650.00 to have a package shipped 2-day air from Chino, CA to myself here in Baumholder, Germany.
We sat IN FRONT OF THE HOUSE all day. If the driver would have shown up, he would have had to walk between our patio set. I had a laptop outside, and tracked the shippment, including when it went "No one home." I called FedEx. and after realizing that once they get paid they no longer care, was told that in Europe, they use contracted companies. Here is my quote "We cannot promise what the contractors do, all we care about is if it makes it into Germany. Once we sign it over, it's no longer our problem." That is was Amir at the Frankfurt office told me, after he laughed at my wife and said if we weren't happy with the mail, then maybe we should move back to America.
I also asked about their "Drop off no later than 6pm." Amir then told me that "FedEx can't even do that, you think our contractors can?" He then said (he is a FedEx employee) that it is FedEx's policy to NOT deliver on time, but say they tried to so FedEx can't be held liable for it. He wished me good luck filing a complaint or a claim, and said all they'll do is blame the contractor, who is NOT responsible under German law.
I got a hold of the contractor and honestly told them what Amir at FedEx had said about their company, and Germans in general. I guess the lady at Tranoflex wasn't to pleased to hear that Amir called her drivers "ragged ex-Nazi's who should be glad they even have a job in the first place" and that "Krauts can't seem to get anything right, so we'll just blame them."
Needless to say, the driver is on his way to my house with the package and they are biiling FedEx triple what it costs.
What a lowlife company. I wish I had a job where I could insult the company I work for, the people, and the contractors who keep me in business. Oh, and insulting the people of the country you live in to boot? Amir at the Frankfurt office has huge stones. Sad thing is, the US rep I talked to over the phone said their "European counterparts" operated under different rules and guidelines. I asked if it was policy on either end to refer to subcontractors as "Ragged ex-Nazi's" or "Krauts who can't get anything right." She laughed and said that "Yes, sometimes the subcontractors we use aren't the best. But you get what you pay for."
I would NEVER use FedEx. In fact, I had asked my sister to use UPS (since they are the ONLY ones allowed to deliver on US Army bases here in Germany). Lesson learned for my sister.

  • I’m Angry!
This happens 2/3 of the time when I use FedEx. This time I had the package sent to my box at The UPS store. FedEx claims a delivery exception because nobody was there at 10:18 AM Sat. BS! If it occurs this often it is not the drivers that are the problem. It is a company workflow to increase productivity. Pretty soon we will have to drive cross country and get it ourselves!

  • that was a lazy Home Delivery driver that didn't want to go to a business address or didn't know it was going to a UPS store... that was open on a Saturday

i know since it usually doesn't say UPS store on the 2nd line of the address form just a street name and suite number i've been in Home Delivery long enough to know that, but others in the system doesn't!

if you include the name of the Business it's going to in the 2nd line of the address form, it'll probably get there without any delay; usually the lazy driver will bring this to the Quality-Assurance cage and they'll look up the address and confirm it's a UPS store & not some other store name in the shopping center complex

use the 2nd line of the address forms to put additional info! like the suite name and number if it's in a shopping center complex to avoid delays in destination. phone number of THAT ups store should be noted on the box as well so if the driver gets confused to where in the shopping center it is located, he can use his/her cellphone to confirm where it is

I think this is half right- the Lazy part. Unless the driver is VERY new. The address is very obvious at this location and the individual store addresses are HUGE! I am so over FedEx and USPS. They suck.

  • you got it half right; some Home Delivery Drivers will skip ALL the businesses on Saturday and just concentrate on getting the Home packages delivered.

I dunno where USPS fit in since they get paid by the hour, like UPS

oh, and this time, HD and Ground are already hiring temp / seasonal drivers so expect more like that unless you follow my recommendations about using the 2nd line address form... so that they can find the destination at their first try.

PS: i've seen some savvy customers utilizing the 2nd line to add any notations like "deliver to back porch" or "deliver to garage port" or "leave package at the apartment leasing office" our system will pick that up and print it out on our delivery manifests

  • like any other business out there, it depends on the driver in your LOCAL area... some good-- some bad -- it's a free country so be down with brown i guess (i have a brother working there so we both know how it is :P)

rarely hear any compliments, just complaints on the internet... i'm glad my customers i service give me compliments on keeping their parcels safe from possible thefts & safe from the weather & leaving my cellphone number and my time frame of when i'll be done for the day so that they can call me to see if i'm still in their area before i head back to the warehouse for the day

another hint: if your package needs a signature, you can print the form out and/ or make a note to where you want your package be left on your home from the website ahead of time before they stick those doortags on your front door (only exceptions are wine delivery and direct signature that you must be home for)

  • I’m Anna Carvalho
same thing is happening to me. yesterday, the day the package was suppose to be delivered, they didn't knocked or even rang the bell BUT I WAS AT HOME. then i tracked the order and then I saw the same message. i'm not from US so i don't know what to do and not even where to pick it up. it stinks know that like in Brazil you guys have FedEx and it does poorly as our CORREIOS does. i thought that only would happen in the 3rd world. really sucks!!
    • i can't add anything that's outside of the US... and you probably should have posted your concerns to your local branch instead...

did they leave a doortag? it has a tracking number along with a phone number...

i repeat, it all depends on the driver who's covering the area...

the holiday season is kicking up and there's going to be temps / seasonal drivers going around with rental vehicles already for Fedex Ground/ Home Delivery. So it all falls back to becoming : YMMV again...

the temps are getting paid per hour and they should be expected to deliver better service...but, after 4 years working for this branch of fedex, i know it's not the case.

  • I’m confused
the guy didn't left anything. and I called the office nearby but it didn't help. today i put a note outside the door so i'm going to wait 4 today. if nothing happens i'll go personally to the FedEx office nearby and check what they can do to 4 help.
    • hex, don't go to the nearby Fedex office; if you know the tracking number, email them directly through their website so you don't waste your time going to the wrong branch... unless you know which branch of Fedex (express, ground, home delivery) it is...

this way you have a "paper trail" for future complaints; if your complaint is valid, the contractor owning that service area will have to pay out of his own pocket to reimburse any costs! that's how you can fight back (for ground or home delivery only)
    • i'm sorry but it's really annoying...
i'm gonna try to sent an email. hope it works.
      thank you anyway.

  • I’m not surprised anymore
I've been following this thread since the beginning. What I have read is very disheartening and I have nothing more to add other than what my USPS delivery person said to me [I guess it's not PC to say "mailman" anymore] - he said that the FedEx and UPS drivers are paid to deliver X amount of pieces in Y amount of hours and the companies don't want to pay overtime, so you had better deliver those X packages in Y hours. No overtime - and they are understaffed due to the economy. No news there. He even said to me that the USPS drivers are now "encouraged" to be back at the office by 4pm and also not to come in as early as they used to. We all have been told how much the USPS has been running in the red. I also found out that the desk clerks are making $26/hr.

What I found even MORE interesting is that, recently, I couldn't make it to my doctor's office to get some prescriptions. Since two of my prescriptions would be considered narcotics, the doctor would ONLY send them via FedEx so that they could be traced and have a signature. When I heard that, I started to laugh. I told the office that my current driver just throws the envelope on my front porch, doesn't ring the bell, and that envelope will sit out there in the open until I pick it up. I told them that it's actually safer to just stick a stamp on an envelope because, at least it will be in an enclosed mailbox...and just because the trace SAYS it's delivered doesn't mean that they actually delivered it.

    It's just a shame, that's all.
    • oh, you're talking about FedEx Express... they are getting "squeezed" tighter and tighter...

if your local driver runs that route regularly, you can leave a note where to put your meds (some customers i know have those cargo boxes on their porches with a small sign to place deliveries inside that box!).

but, if it's narcotics, it may require a DIRECT signature to make sure someone is there to receive it in person, not a driver release... personally, if i know it's a small package and the return address suggest meds in it without no signature required, I usually put it in a fedex weather bag & secure it in a safe spot on your home, with a doortag saying where it is... stuck to your front door or sometimes on your mailbox (because that's where morst will look when the customer gets home)

always file a complaint directly to fedex, via their site or 800 # so they can filter it down to the local warehouse & follow up with their local drivers... in my area we will always get them
    • no - just the physical prescriptions. Even the mail order pharmacies will only ship narcotics via USPS with a signature required as even THEY know what FedEx and UPS won't do anymore.

But, again, most of the time, it depends on who your driver is that day. I have some GREAT drivers. But there are one or two that are horrible. I trust my USPS guy completely.

  • well, i've already given some tips to help resolve the issue; complaining about the whole company for the crappy services from a FEW drivers won't help them get rid or correct those drivers, you need to complain to them DIRECTLY~

that pertains to businesses in general; use their company website, provide tracking numbers and specifics... they'll have people go find out what's going on and either try to weed 'em out or correct their faults. EVERY BUSINESS has good and bad workers, some just hide it better than others.

back to your particular observation; does the condo have an leasing office or mailroom that will accept those packages? or did that driver needed signatures for all those doortags he left? If it's Ground/ Home Delivery, he didn't get paid for those attempts... if it was a temp driver getting paid by the hour then he should have made an attempt to bring it up to every door and knock/leave the tag there...

  • Yesterday I was home when Fed EX rang the bell and my house is huge so it's a hike to the front door...He was already in the truck...Today I was ready and doing my work near the front door...guess what? He had the box in the truck...wasn't planning on me being home. I was pissed because the box looked like it had been opened and retaped...he denied it looked like that...so he grabbed it from me until I gave my last name to that asshole...I would say something else but it would be politically incorrect. Nobody wants to do their job anymore nor accept any responsibility is what is going on.

  • sorry you have had a bad driver...

if he's the regular driver in your service area, you can file a
complaint against him... look above my other posts for more info

if he's a temp/ seasonal driver, they can also track it down to who
had mis-treated you & will reprimand him using the door tag or package
    tracking numbers...

I just got back from servicing my area from 830 AM to 10 PM & I only
see negative comments on the internet. While ringing / knocking on
their front doors at 8PM, the customers shouldn't be surprised that
some of us are out there that late during this month

you didn't say if the package required a signature or not; i'm
guessing it did since he asked you for your last name to enter it on
    the portable computer/ barcode scanner...

when we sort/ load our own packages into our vans, I would always
question an open / semi-damaged package that was bumped off the
conveyor belt... and give it to someone in the warehouse for it to be
    checked/ re-taped...

in this economy, going directly to the website to file a complaint
will help weed out the bad drivers... NOT on this complaint thread
that people randomly add on from the Original Poster's problem

  • I’m angry
I experienced this at least 6-7 times. I was so angry with it. I work at home and never used the Buz phone when it's delivery day. Kept checking the status online and listening carefully to any sound even went to wash room. Evey time I complained to the customer service, just right after I found the status was changed to "Delivery exception--Customer not available or business closed". But it happened to ground parcels again and again.

Same thing happened for the 2 locations in Toronto, one is in downtown, recently in midtown.

Today it happened again. I phoned the customer service last night and told them my Buz Number and let them know I would be waiting at home for it for the whole day today. But at 8:59am this morning, the status was still changed to "Delivery exception" even I was at home waiting for it..!!!

I wonder what their tracking information is for. If you wouldn't come or are not sure if you are coming, you don't need to display the delivery date so that we don't need to change our plan or waste time to wait for it ! ---If you list your delivery date, you should be there, NO EXCUSE!

If you don't care your customer, who cares you ! ???

    • Use UPS next time or demand it. That's what I did and no problems so far. FedEx drivers are lazy!
    • Thanks for your reply, Romelle!
It happened again today! I was waiting at home and the status was changed to "Delivery exception--Customer not available or business closed" quietly in the early morning again. I found the tag from the front door later. It's something like playing game "hiding and finding"! --The driver came, put a tag on the door then left quietly! --Just let you guess when she comes!
Actually I phoned them last night for today's delivery and got a call back one hour later from the dirver(I think it's the driver) and said it would come today from 9am to 5pm. But today the online delivery status changed at 8:37am!-- Out of her schedule! --But I was still at home at that time though and the driver still claimed "Delivery exception--Customer not available or business closed" again!
Does FedEx likes to play such a game with their costomers again and agian?!!

  • I’m mad!
June, exactly the same thing happened to me and that's why I try to avoid FedEx at all cost. I got a tag on my door and yet when I called FedEx the driver claims he can't enter the gate. So the next day I waited for the delivery and nothing (no door bell, phone call or buzz from the gate). I finally decided to go outside and check. Well, guess what? I got another door tag! I was furious! Are FedEx drivers a bunch of lazy ninjas?
