I’m annoyed

FedEx claims I'm not at home and can't deliver, but I'm home!

This is a problem that has happened to me and my girlfriend now several times (3 or 4). We will have ordered something online that's shipped FedEx ground, and we'll get an email that there was a "delivery exception," meaning the package couldn't get delivered, and the explanation will be something along the lines of, "Customer not at location." Problem is, one or both of us often work from home, so we know that we were home at the time it supposedly couldn't be delivered. Sometimes there is a FedEx door hanger explaning, sometimes not, but in either case, our buzzer works fine and not only that, our super lives in the building and is always around during the day for deliveries. So something doesn't add up. I double-checked with a shipper just to make sure he had the address right, which he did, and he chalked it up to "lazy FedEx delivery person." I called FedEx's consumer help line and they said that they would check with the delivery hub, but I remain dubious that anything will change.

  • I’m exhausted to complain
    Thanks Romelle!

They didn't come on Monday and changed the online status to "Delivery exception--Awaiting additional delivery information from recipient" at 6:04 AM even I phoned them again Sunday night to confirm every thing again.

I can't expect anything from them and am exhausted to complain again and again..Just return it.

You are right, Never FedEx again!

    • Same problem as the other writers.....Fedx claims that no one was home, but I'm here all the time, and my dog is a wonderful warning system. He barks if anyone even comes onto the property, and he doesn't stop until I check and okay it. So I KNOW that no attempt was made to deliver. Now I can't reach the vendor, and Fedx claims I have to go to them to resend the package. So I'm out over $300. I am pissed off at both of them. Just need to know what to do next.
    • For the second day in a row FedEx claims they attempted delivery to my house but no one was home. We have taken 2 days off of work, and put a huge sign on the front door telling FedEx "we are home please knock."

FedEx again today claims they attempted delivery and no one was home. We were home ALL day. For the 2nd day in a row FedEx claims there was a "delivery exception" and that they tried to deliver the package at my house but nobody was home.

If this were true, FedEx WILL LEAVE A STICKY NOTE SAYING "SORRY WE MISSED YOU"; HOWEVER, BOTH TIMES THERE WAS NO NOTE. No trace at all that FedEx was even here.

It's incredibly frustrating taking 2 days off work and waiting home all day, just to be told FedEx allegedly came to my home but no one was home.

  • I think our biggest problem is that we generally are not perceived to be a fedex customer, a third party we have ordered something from has hired them, therefore complaining to fedex gets us nowhere. I've got my own stories about guaranteed delivery by Christmas items received well after New Years, dozens of delivery exception tracking messages that were nothing but BS, and perishable items like the strawberries sent as fruit of the month that were delivered rotten yesterday because the geniuses at fedex who had managed to get the package to New Hampshire from Oregon apparently needed a couple of extra days to figure out the last 50 or so miles of the trip to my home, despite the package being clearly marked for 2 day delivery.
Complaining to the vendor/sender is my approach lately. Make it their problem. They're the ones who are paying for a service that is being carried out poorly. Eventually, with enough complaints, maybe they'll get the kick in the pants they deserve and which they apparently need in order to make any effort to clean up their act.

  • I stand corrected. After printing out the tracking information for the box of rotten strawberries it was clear that the package wasn't sitting in NH for a couple of extra days. It was too busy ricocheting around the country on a bizarre and senseless tour of fedex facilities throughout the US, including Oakland, Indianapolis, Newark, and Memphis before landing here in NH. I can't blame the NH guys this time, they held up their part of the deal, the shipment was doomed long before they got their hands on it.
I'll reiterate my advice to complain to the shipper/vendor you've ordered stuff from. They're the only ones with any leverage with fedex, and sooner or later they might realize that fedex's reliability problems reflect poorly on them and chase customers to their competitors.
    • And these idiots didn't even smell the rotting fruit? Come on, they didn't care they want their paycheck.
    • I no longer use any vendor who ships solely using FedEx. I tell the vendor that fact, and have even cancelled an order when I find that they will only ship using FedEx. The only way FedEx will change is if they lose customers and the guys paying for their "services". That means the change must come from the vendors who refuse to use them. We customers can refuse to be victimized by only choosing vendors who DON'T ship with FedEx. FedEx should be put pout of business.

  • I had issues with AT&T where the techs seem to rely heavily on automated phone communication and either don't knock, or don't knock heavily enough to rouse my nocturnal butt out of whatever trance i'm in. I do realize that these folks are on a busy schedule in a stressful job, but it would be nice to have less of a gap in communication, generally.

  • Fedex needs to be sued in court or fire those lazy people that don't deliver. I had many issues with Fedex with packages not being delivered on time. Yeah, I called fedex and told them about this many times, they simply don't care about customers that use Fedex. I wish Walmart.com would use UPS instesd of Fedex because they rock. Fedex needs to have a class action suit to change this.

We were waiting at home all day for a gift that was supposed to be delivered today. We had checked the door several times and were watching a movie in our living room. When we checked later in the evening there was a note on the door that they had come at 7:59, but they never even rang the doorbell. We paid a high cost to have this gift delivered today and they couldn't even be bothered to ring the doorbell. We called them and they say they can't do anything about it. What a miserable service!

    I live in Brampton-Canada.
Our Fed-ex guy - calls up people out of the apartment building and makes us wait for 15-20 min.

Then once he has everyone in a line - he distributes packets like an ice-cream truck. Its ridiculous...

Amazing thing is - when he does not find the building buzzer number on the packet - he sends the packet back- with incomplete address (buzzer code not found). - as if he wouldve gone into the building to deliver the packets.

When I call the help-line to complain about his behavior - they keep me on hold and the manager is always in meetings and has no time to talk.

I never know what will happen to my next packet.

My company is a huge Fedex account - I think I should get these guys kicked out from the source & try someone else.

  • funny how fedex hasn't responded to any of these.. why have a get satisfaction page if you're not going to provide good customer support?
    • They want you to think that they give a damn. They don't, of course. Do not do business with any company who does their shipping only with FedEx. If the company won't give you an alternate shipping option, go elsewhere. Sooner or later, the companies who insist on using this unreliable service will reconsider their choice when they start losing customers. .

  • I’m VERY VERY ANGRY
I live at a veterans home. We are here 24/7 365. Our shipping department is not, but we have a big sign, 4 feet by 4 feet that says on holidays, contact security for signatures, or deliveries.

Today I waited until noon, and they never even showed up.. Then I logged on to the net and checked and yes, there it was, the "delivery exemption" so I called fed ex's 800 number and raised hell.

Its now 6pm they have until 8pm. Otherwise I have to wait 3 days, until Monday, for the holidays to be over, before our shipping department will be there. I am very angry as I paid for next day shipping and WE ARE HERE.

    UPDATE
Today is Tuesday 4 Jan. I just called FEDEX, and now I got 2 different excuses.
The lady on the phone told me my shipping department is closed today. I told her, no it is not, and I have been there 3 times, and that this location has people here 24/7, and that 2 other fed ex people have made deliveries..

The next excuse I got was "the driver has the day off", SO THE F__K What!!

I paid to have my package delivered, and its not here and my shipping department will be heading home by the time I get this done..

I am definitely FED UP with FED EX.

  • I was tracking a shipment of wine (requires signature) via FedEx. I work at home and can see right out the window. I saw the truck come up so I waited inside the front door and watched as the driver moved around in the truck for almost 5 minutes and then just sat down and drove off. Shortly thereafter I got the delivery exception notice that I was not home. The stupid driver never even got out of the truck, let alone come to the door. I promptly called and complained. Pretty pathetic service.

    • The service is shit. honestly
    • the service that Fed Ex provides is substandard, they stink !! I was expecting a letter from Indiana to Western NY, send on monday promised to be here on Wednesday,it contained a check from a customer, Saturday I tlaked to the sender and she was shocked that I had not gotten the letter.
I called Fed Ex, only to find out ,that the service that delivers is not Fed Ex,but a private company located in the Ghetto of Buffalo NY, their driver had the nerve to claim that he deivered the letter on Tuesday at 2.04 pm, funny , my husband was home all day with our sick child and nobody from any company was there. at 2 pm I had pulled in the drive way with a bunch of groceries which by 2.07 pm I was still unloading, so I guess I must have missed the Phantom of Fedex, and our security camera that is dated and timed does not show anyone but me unloading groceries, someone is lying !! FED EX your subcontracor is a fraud and a crook!!!

I had a computer ordered from Dell sent to my place of business. Someone is on premises from 7 am until 12 am daily. They said it was closed, but managed to deliver my payroll processor's package the same day to the same address. So dell got the computer back. They don't reship. I can expect my dell credit in 2 weeks. So my money is gone for 3weeks and I still need a new pc.

Got the 'delivery exception' message that said we were not at home... Complete BS as I was sitting at my home office desk which faces the driveway...I also have dogs in a pen that bark at everything and kids playing in the yard. There's no way he was here.

Package is way overdue, and it's a Friday... and I doubt we will see our package next week. Next time, I'm boycotting any store that ships only FedEx.

  • Expected a FedEx home delivery package on Saturday at work (via their tracking). Was working at my desk 10 feet or less from the door all morning. Recheck tracking and they they business not open. We had every door unlocked (an side doors open as it was warm). Called Fedex today (Monday) as it is rescheduled for Tuesday! What the!! When I questioned them that they have done this before, just skipped the entire industrial area and stated business closed, they said the driver marked us as closed, bull!!. I do my darnest not to get stuff shipped to me by FedEx or FedEx Home, but some places ship by whatever they want, no matter what you specify. We can't even get the FedEx guy to figure out which business is which in a row building, we are at the front and if I don't accept the package for the business toward the back of the parking lot, they just drive off, and I am sure they mark it as "delivery attempted, nobody there" FEDEX stinks.

  • I’m scared, angry
just found this thread, JUST HAD THIS HAPPEN TO ME! I found three delivery tags on my door all on the same day claining they had tried two days prior to deliver, and that that was their last attempt. I instantly go pissed knowing those tags were not there the last two days so i called fedex about this, they said they'd send the package to a fedex location near my to hold for pickup and helped me file a complaint. Next day I got a call from a manager letting me know that the package was redistributed and is out for delivery today. Get a knock on my door accompanied by a fedex truck and got excited, go to the door to find a fedex guy with no name tag, sunglasses, larger than me, stronger than me at the door who was asing me why I complained about him and continued to argue with me for a good five minutes, asked for the tags back, asked me to call the company and tell them I got the tags. Insane. He finally left, luckily I had that call from earlier from a manager so I called the number back, let the manager know what happened, that it scared me, was totally inappropriate and with how upset the driver was I'm nervous now that if he gets fired he'll come back after me. Poeple are desperate nowadays, you never know. He knows what I look like, where I live. The whole thing is scary. And to top it off its almsost 5pm and still no delivery. BOO. I'm not happy with fedex right now and am now worried about a large angry hispanic man out there that I may have gotten fired wanting revenge.

I just experienced this crap, I've been sitting at home since 2PM waiting on a 200 dollar phone that was due to arrive at 430PM (I had tracked it online) and I updated my tracking to find out it had been changed to "delivery exception" at 325PM. I had been sitting next to my door (which had a "we missed you" note filled out on it) but my door had never been knocked on, nor had my doorbell been rang at all. I'm literally three or four steps from opening my door, and i'm very upset with this due to the fact I leave for California within a week and I want to make sure this phone is working and able to be used before I leave. I'm right now dialing to complain, because FedEx just screwed me over. My tracking online says it should be here tomorrow around the same time, but there's no sense in me not having it now, due to staying home all day just to get my phone set up. Screw FedEx, i'm using UPS whenever possible.

  • I’m frustrated
I have had two bad experiences with Fed Ex. The first involved a check of substantial sums which was delivered to a Fed Ex hub several miles away where a clerk said he could not make out the name of the person to whom it was to be delivered and wrote over that name, in effect changing it. When the package could not be delivered the first time, I received a Door Tag (DT) and called the number on it. The person who answered asked for my name, but since it did not match what the clerk had placed on it I was told that I could not sign for it as only the person on the label could pick it up. This went on for several days until the originating company stepped in and cleared up the mess Fed EX had made. The second involved exactly what these complaints are all about: The delivery person not knocking on the door or ringing the bell, but placing a DT on my window. I was then told that they could not reach the truck driver to instruct him on redelivery and that I would have to come to the nearest office (about an hour away) to pick it up. I was told by the dispatcher in the call center that this was a common problem, and that delivery personnel are instructed not to waste time at any one home and deliver a DT rather than wait so that they can meet their delivery quota. Can you believe in this day and age an operation such as this that is totally unable to communicate with its drivers? Fed Ex should not be given the responsibility of delivering important documents and packages and we would be be best served if it were out of business.

  • I’m Rename Fedex to DeliveryExcept
Here is another reason for a "Delivery exception". I live in a rural community and Fedex deliveries are done by a contract driver who has purchased the right to deliver this route. About 25% of my Fedex deliveries are "Delivery exceptions" since the driver does not want to venture out to my location because he loses money (fuel and operating costs) on these one-off deliveries on the edge of his route. Typically I will get two exceptions in a row until he gets several packages to deliver out my way to make it worthwhile for him. I normally have to call Fedex and complain before he finally delivers. UPS never has "Delivery exceptions" for my packages because they are company employees not contract drivers.

  • Yep. And to all those who have had the door tag while being right next to the door and no knock or doorbell - we discovered why something that nonsensical happens: Guy doesn't want to carry the packages so he just runs down the street slapping on door tags, and no packages in his hands. If you had coincidentally caught him, he'd have to sheepishly admit no the package is back in the truck. Our neighbor witnessed one of these finally - guy doing door tags with no packages in hand and the truck a 1/2 a block away.

Well, I am from the Netherlands, ordered something from Brno, CZ, Monday it left, and thursday it should have arrived. It didn't. according the tracking website the package traveled through France and the Netherlands towards England, back to France again, and now it's back on it's way to England. I contacted them yesterday, and they would look in to it. Not heard from them since!

update: well, somehow They didn't want the package in England, it;s back in France again...Really, if fedex wants to go bankrupt, that's fine by me but please don't toy with my package as if it is a pinball-ball

update: package currently in the netherlands, hopefully the driver isn't how you guys described them...it's a sunny day today, so I'm going to sit in front of my house today. 7 DAYS!! it took them 7 days to make the delivery....clearly they are doing something wrong!

  • If I were a Fed Ex delivery woman,I would stop by the building, or the house. I would even stop the truck, for a minute, or 46 seconds, maybe, the better part of a minute, wait that is too long. O.k., I wouldn't stop completely, it would be a rolling stop, where I would idle for about 2 seconds and a quarter, and then I would speed off like a bat out of hell. In case I go out with friends, after hours, and I happened to be in the area, even if is 2 a.m., I would then stop and deliver a tag, a strip of paper with some adhesive at the top that states that Fed Ex actually WAS here!!!!!!! and it actually tried to deliver the package, at say 1:29 p.m.

As a matter of fact, as a woman who has been waiting the whole day yesterday and the whole day today, for Fed EX to deliver a package, along with her husband whose general demeanor is that of a frozen lake, one the children can safely ice skate on the whole day and whole night through, as he comes from a country that was colonized by great Britain, (small g because I really don't think it was so great when it went everywhere colonizing people, not that I think any other power doing that was great in that case) for centuries, so he is the most mellow person I've ever met, and still he came unglued today, over Fed Ex crooked practices. I actually heard him utter the swear word FUCK, which I am likely to utter quite often, making him cringe, while promising I will stop, for at least 4 minutes, while I have never heard him swear in 12 years of courtship and marriage. When he did swear today, I pretended I did NOT hear him, because I know how he feels about swearing, so I don't want him to feel even worse than he already does now. I didn't even mention it in passing or jokingly, "oh, baby, you swore", because I am pretending it didn't happen at all, since I don't want to him to get any more steamed up than he already is, never mind a frozen lake , this is more like molten lava, from Mount Vesuvius, from Napoli, Italy which is where I was born, so you know I am not what the Americans would call the most emotionallyll rolled up in ou stable person, that is why I had to end up with St. Francis, St. Claire, and St. Pio,all rolled up in one Twinkie, capitalized because of the purity and the lack of gmo among its contents, to get married and stay married, and 12 years isn't bed, considered my first marriage lasted one year. So amazingly enough, I am not that shaken up today, and there are reasons that clearly account for that, while he has come unglued. These poor children went to have fun and just got swallowed up
by a crack in the ice, that gave way to a massive eruption of molten lava because the tectonic plates, have been moving very-very slowly, but for centuries, and in the final analysis, if you are moving very-very slowly, but for centuries, even if the movement is hardly perceptible, you will have gotten, one kilometer, 3 miles,
or even a whole continent away, just like this time that the plates, shaking and shimming, arrived in no other place that under the Puffer Pond's at Amherst, that I am not sure has ever been a frozen lake that is skating proof, like my husband is, but I am positive is now an erupting volcano, now, that is blanketing all of Amherst and neighboring towns under an 8 inch thick red, bubbling, and smoking substance, making such a gorgeous area in our Valley a site of a horrific, historic event that has swallowed up thousands of people and mummified UMass, Hampshire College, Eric Carle Museum, the Jewish Library, (sic, I'm afraid I cannot remember the exact name, but you get the picture), the wonderful Amherst Green, and the Black Sheep,
Subway, Zanna, Starbucks, and more, oh yes, Food For Thought, that wonderful bookstore, and the Bangs Center, where all the activities of the galaxy take place,
so, yes, all under a stratus that will inform the world for millenniums to come that the plates, and we are not talking about your grandmother's china now, actually moved such a distance, that Naples' Mount Vesuvius actually erupted into Amherst epicenter, destroying a thriving community of dynamic universities, and communities, spacious Pleasant St., adorned with its stores, one of a kind businesses, like the Black Sheep, and chains, like Starbucks, all succumbed, and all still survive century after century, for so long so that the whole area, starting with Amherst as its center, has been renamed Pompei !!.

OOOpppssss, it is my husband, who is swearing in the background, but every more loudly than the swear before. I need to check in on him right now.

I don't know. He'll be o.k., bugt he isn not o.k, right now, and tha makes me not o.k. at all, even though Fed Ex itgself had not fuffled my feathers. Now my feathers are pointng sstraight up into the heavens, and yes, you can now say Fed Ex has even succeeding into rusffling my feathers today, which means I have obtained the address for Fed Ex Executive Services, and I will write to them to let them know that I am speaking to my lawyers and Istartinga class action suit against them, for repayment of lost wages, two days for my husband, just counting lathis week, never mind all the otehr weeks, when this had already happened, plus pain and suffering, because when his blood pressure goes up, I suffer and my sister suffer and her children cry, and then their grandfather, who is alreday very ill with waht the doctor say "we can't say it's cancer and we can't say it's not", like brilliant diagnosticians then, he starts crying, and his son in law starts crying and he calls his mother and she starts crying, and she calls her best friend in Guinea, whose son answers the phone, and he starts crying. It's the domino effect. What pain and suffering, you ask me? And all I can say is "you wanna bet?" So, yes, I am starting a class action, oh, my husband just drew a breath and fell on the couch, in a supine position, and his blood pressure is going back down, so, let me start again. Here we go, I am starting a CLASS ACTION SUIT, an International one, since it seems, wherever we live on this planet, we are now being affected by Mount Vesuvius and Mount Etna, that move inexorably slowly, but move inexorably anyhow, so I invite all of you to join me to keep my huband blood plressure down.

  • I’m Ticked
I stayed home from work today for my package that was supposed to come from FedEx and be delivered by 4:30 PM today. I went and bought a 2nd snow shovel (the first is in my wife's car currently) and shoveled my driveway, steps, and porch. I have been by the front door all afternoon and no one has come down my street even. I have no door tag from FedEx, and I never received the email notification saying there was a delivery exception. I looked at the tracking once again at 4:20 PM and that's when I saw that it said Customer not Available. I called into FedEx immediately, and was placed on hold while they got ahold of the local delivery center. After about 20 minutes, I was told the delivery driver was already on his way back and would not be able to bring it today. I let the service technician know my feelings about this and he said he would transfer me to his supervisor. I have been on hold another 20 minutes waiting for the supervisor to this point. What can I do?

  • What can you do about FedX's poor service? Don't use them Tell anyone you are buying from not to use FedX and be willing to pay extra, if need be, to get delivery with some other carrier. As far as getting FedX to change,,, don't bother. They are totally uninterested in serving their customers and treat them accordingly.

  • I can confirm numerous occasions. These idiots don't ring the buzzer or knock or make their arrival known whatsoever.

  • I’m frustrated and angry
Welcome to the "Stiffed by FedEx Club". They do not care whether you get your delivery or not and they aren't ashamed to lie about it and claim that they knocked when they whizzed right by your house in their little van. It's a mystery to me why any vendor would chose to use them. I love their ad with the guy who gives himself a promotion for using FedEx. but admits that he can't give himself a raise. It's one of the dumbest ads on TV and it perfectly personifies the jerks who use FedEx..

  • I’m frustrated
FedEx Will not deliver to my apartment at all ! no one in my apartment building ever receives packages when they are shipped Via FEDEX. the local delivery driver doesnt even bother getting out of his truck to leave tags. A lot of people in my building have called the company and complained about it but our complaints seem to fall of deaf ears.

I live in A larger city and i don't own car, the closest FEDEX office is over 30 miles away out in the sticks..so needless to say the buses don't run there and taking a taxi would cost me a fortune! so Now when i see something is getting shipped fedex I automatically call them and have them send the package back.

  • Overnight FedEX package. Supposed to be delivered today by 10:30AM. I've been home waiting since 8AM. No knock on the door or door tag. Checked the status at 9:40AM and the status says "Delivery Exception" noted at 9:36AM. Called FedEX and complained, the rep said they'll ask the driver to re-attempt today but nothing could be guaranteed. I'm so fucking frustrated.

  • I’m happy
I recently had to deal with FedEx again because the vendor only shipped using FX. So, I immediately went to FX site and sent them an email as to where to leave the package (in my driveway) but I also included a warning which read as follows: Do not even THINK about claiming i was not home. I WILL be home and I WILL file a BB and a legal complaint if the package is not delivered. The package was delivered and left in my driveway, as instructed. I immediately left a message for FX thanking them for the prompt delivery.
